great list
Hey! Great list! Thank you for sharing it, keep up the good work!
What do we say after they respond no
is it too much to ask for you to….
Can’t believe that I’m starting to get 30% response rate after being ghosted for weeks 😂😂. Voss, you’re a discovery for me.
TACTICAL EMPATHY: “is now a bad time to talk” has opened many collaborative doors for me. Thanks so much to the whole team!
Use the phrase many times daily!
@@chuckgravity7616 I will try even with mad people.
Tactical Empathy
Tactical empathy!
Awesome! Glad to hear it has been effective for you.
Tactical Empathy: such a knowledgeable human being, Chris Voss
I used that “is it a ridiculous idea” on a woman that I wanted to get acquainted with…she said “yes” it would be ridiculous if we got better acquainted. Lol
This made my day thank you we’ve all been in this position
Is it a ridiculous idea for me to buy you a drink? 🤷🏻♂️
pick up is a whole different beast. if you haven't demonstrated higher value first, you are wasting your time (also applies to negotiation)
I guess you could have started with an acusatory audit... you're not going to like this, you're going to think that I am just another guy from the hundreds of guys trying to hit on you every day, etc or whatever else females throw back to you in these situations. Keep going on for 1-2 sentences more and then say and you're right. wait for her reaction and say nothing after this
overstating it helps bring a smile/laugh on and would make her feel flattered
I just sent a text to the buyer’s agent who’s been ghosting me ‘Have your clients given up on (the property address)?’ he called me right back. It worked. Lol
I’m about to use this on my bff realtor who is bit upset at me and ghosting as well…allowing him to sell my house but not be my buyers agent
It's great to hear that it worked. Keep up the good work!
Yes! Worked for me. I was quoted $5,000 for a program for my elementary site. I asked if it was ridiculous for them to only charge us $500 and allow our district (7 schools) to pilot the program. I received a response within 30 minutes....$595 for all 7 schools!
At 2x speed he sounds normal. I love Chris Voss. Changed my life.
I've read NSTD and I love that damn book. I came up with these and thought I'd share: Would it be…[ bad, a pain, a PITA, trouble, super-difficult, stupid, a bad idea, impossible, impractical, inconceivable, unattainable …] to.....
Would you be [against/opposed to…](take an action)? eg. meeting tuesday afternoon, say, 2pm?
would it be uncomfortable if I...([._____________ (brought my manager?) (gave you a hug?) (recorded this meeting?)]
the s*** works.
Glad to hear you loved the book! Great insights, by the way. Keep it up!
Tactical Empathy - “Would it be a bad idea…” After 5 interactions with the other side, I just renegotiated our property lines and saved our future business expansion ability. I never would have been able to accomplish this without your coaching. Thank you Chris Voss!
So tactical empathy from the book means to "INTENSELY listen to each word" that your counter-part is saying to "drain the swamp"
Congratulations! Glad our coaching helped. Thanks for being part of our community!
TACTICAL EMPATHY: Love how each approach breaks the listener out of their pattern to actually listen.
0:25 - "Is now a bad time to talk?"
2:52 - "Is it a ridiculous idea..."
5:13 - "Are you against..."
11:34 - "Have you given up on..."
I’ve been a successful salesman for over 30 years. Do not use “word games” and manipulation as this gentleman recommends. People are not stupid. Most can recognize when they are being manipulated.
Be genuine. Be honest. Build “Relationships”. Success is guaranteed. 😉👍🏻
Awesome. Great comment. Be human with each other. Don't be a hustler with word games and cleverness. The future for people who have not even been born yet depends on how we act with one another right now.
It sounds like you’re struggling with the message. The message is pretty clear and useable if you can understand what the message is. Get a little deeper into the philosophy and you’ll understand the benefits!
If you’re a successful salesman and don’t like or need the information, based on your comment, why are you watching Chris Voss videos?
Tactical Empathy. Too good to be free. TOO GOOD. Already used that once today. "Is now a bad time to talk?" I swear the change in demeanor is palpable...
Tactical Empathy -
Wow ! One of the absolute BEST training I’ve heard in my 20 years in sales ! I used one of your scripts immediately afterwards to someone who was ghosting me , and it worked like a charm !👍 Thank you for the value !
Hi there.Thank you for the amazing feedback! We're thrilled to hear that our training and scripts have been effective for you.
I've practiced them already in my negotiations, not a difficult ones, but the ones that matter, and every Q got the answer I needed. It's a magic!
Hey man, I am a fresher blockchain developer who has recently started a job, using Chris's techniques I was able to negotiate a better salary for myself, frankly way more than they were offering, I can't tell you the exact numbers but Thanks Chris
Wow that's great! You rock!
TACTICAL EMPATHY: Being 46 and having changed carreers, I'm finding myself banging my head against the wall while trying to reestablish myself. Your videos are helpfull and your no nonesence approach resonnates with my own. Keep it up.
Keep moving forward. I reinvented myself at 50.
Hi there! Thanks for your support. Keep up the great work!
Hello 40s peeps 😂
TACTICAL EMPATHY: it's fun to see my colleague's reactions whenever I ask them, "is it a bad time...? or "will you get mad...?" They freeze for a second or two, and they will look at me with this weird facial expression. Afterwards, they will answer, and it almost always works, but in the moments that it doesn't, it's apparent that they're not interested or out of focus. It probably fails because they might not feel heard or understood, so I need to work on my collaboration skills and active listening. THANKS, COACH CHRIS!
Chris at his very best. An ‘all in one’ short and helpful intro to a different way to communicate.
Tactical empathy indeed! Thank you Chris. The techniques you share are absolute gems!
Tactical Empathy 🎯 💯
Appreciate you and your team Chris - as well as all the amazing content you give away!
Wow, just watched this video now. I then implemented one if the question for a prospective client that ghosted me someone months ago. Guess what! She called me immediately. I have been wondering why she ghosted my team after showing a lot if interest in our service. It turned out she had some business and personal challenges. I totally put my sales pitch on the back-burner and spoke to her purely as a friend, even gave her free tips to help her and encouraged her. At the end, she felt better and I am sure when she sorts out her issue, my business will be top of mind. Thanks for the video!!!
Tactical Empathy! @Chris you are changing my life ... Thank you. Unlearning the bad habits is so hard. Trying the new things is uncomfortable but I'm committed to low stakes practice, it's fun.
I’ve read Voss’ book. This stuff works. For instance, I was once the only guy to be placed in another flight. All the other screaming SOBs got a night at a hotel by the airport.
Tactical Empathy: From adversarial to mediation....Game changer for me...Thank you, I am learning a hell of a lot from you. Thanks Chris
Tactical empathy. I want to just say thank you, I've used your first two Masterclass lessons to great effect within the first two weeks of trying. I wish I would have bought your book 2 years ago when I first saw it.
I love this! Great content! Thanks for the knowledge!
So awesome Chris! 🔥
Tactical empathy:
Thanks for walking through these and giving such great examples to connect them with.
Already see a handful of ways to use these in our sales and marketing efforts.
TACTICAL EMPATHY! I am a old schooler "GETTING TO YES" person. We read that book in my college Buyer Behavior class. This is a complete upgrade and I can see value in it by just reading your book. Can't wait use these new methods.
Love it! This book is a game-changer, you'll find so much value in it. Can't wait for you to try the new methods!
Tactical empathy. Solid. Thank you very much for this exceptional content.
Thank you, great stuff.
Tactical Empathy. Outstanding video, Chris! Will try these out this week! Thank you.
Tactical Empathy.... great summarization in two words.... I have been applying something like this for a very long time and didn't really know how to word it so precisely, or even that I used no as a basis. I've really become good at the reconnection and it has always come down to starting by recognizing all of the issues that have caused the problems, addressing them and then getting a yes or you're right as a confirmation that this is what or why they had an issue.it directly creats a repor even if I don't have the best way to fix it at the time. By addressing every problem they have before they have to tell me let's them know we are on the same page and we can move forward with a clear direction. The no orientated questions is new clarity of concept that I kinda knew but it was more of a vibe feeling thing that I now can be more direct in its application. You are exactly right that it's easier for someone to give you a no then a yes. You are first recognizing there's a lot of factors for them to consider. You are then asking them to pull the line back from needing them to commit to dealing with all those things right now, and more of consider the possibility of weather those things could work out. It takes the wieght out of the decision and adds a recognition of that wieght.... which gives you more of a...(hard to word) ... credibility in regards to your intentions being to actually create a beneficial situation or agreement for both of you. Letting them know your understand thier objections and moving toward a shared goal. I believe you genuinely need to know that shared goal, or be shooting for it, or it's kind of a corrupted concept. More like manipulation... that's not to say that that kind of thing doesn't work, it's just not for me, it's a contradiction of who I am and it's a misuse of my abilities.
Sorry for writing a chapter in the comment section.... I'll leave it there
Tactical empathy. Thank YOU Chris !!
Tactical empathy. Even though I began with Never Split the Difference in 2019, the lessons never get old, there's always more to absorb.
Tactical empathy. I’m learning so much. Thank you
Really good advice! Thank you! I haven't had a chance to use it yet (simply because I write this comment right after watching this video) but I am already looking forward to implementing this with you a few people today
Thanks for the video! Some really great content in there which is very simple to implement.
Excellent advice, thank you Chris! 💯
Tactical empathy. You help me organize my successes from the past. Hindsight being 20/20, when I practice the things you clarify, I win. Thank you
Tactical empathy - used ‘have you given up on…’ to restart a conversation that died nearly a year ago and got full buy-in from my contact. Brilliant!
Tactical empathy. Thank you Chris.
Tactical Empathy and growing a bit each day. Great lessons in unwinding the rooted norms I've been following blindly and even unknowingly.
Your book blew my mind. Best thing I ever read. I need to get this information running through my vains ❤️
Tactical Empathy -- We love what you do, Chris and the BSG
Tactical Empathy. Mr. Voss, thank you for this video, and all the other videos you and your team post online.

Love your videos Chris - this really works!
I just sent a "Have you given up on_____?" text and it scares the crap out of me for two reasons. I don't want to be menipulative and I care about the busy that I'm trying to work with.
I am so thankful to have learned tactical empathy over the years from Chris. It is the most influential component of success for me
Tactical Empathy!

Tactical Empathy - Thanks for this. I really appreciate the coaching.
I highly recommend everyone pick up Never split the difference, I especially like the audio book version.
I used No- Oriented questions while asking for a raise to great effect.
Thanks for all the lessons on tactical empathy , Chris!
Can you give example like
I like the audio book too but I wish Chris Voss narrated it himself! The existing narrator isn't bad but just not the same.
"Never Split the Difference" is a must-read, especially the audio book. Your success with No-Oriented questions during your raise negotiation is impressive! Keep it up!
Love your videos, will keep watching and practice :) tactical empathy ;)
Tactical empathy
I've been through the book at least a couple of times, and I've watched a lot of the videos. It's time to put this knowledge into action. Thank you to Chris, Brandon, and everyone at The Black Swan Group for getting this valuable information out there!
Hey! Thanks for being here and putting that knowledge into action! We appreciate your support.
If you haven't already realized what Chris Voss and the Black Swan Group have to offer, don't waste another moment. For 35 years I watched these negotiation dynamics in business. I didn't understand them and I did not practice to this degree to become better. I read all the "brain" books on cognition, human decision making and realized there is a science to how we think.
This is a completely unsolicited endorsement - get the book, either from your favorite book store or the library. Read it. Read it again and take notes. Practice it. I am telling you Chris and his group know what they are doing, and this is all about making all your relationships better and making things work out for all involved! Truly the compilation of all the science and know how on how to collaborate and create amazing partnerships.
Thanks, Chris. Never Split The Difference is my reference book for human interaction. Really great stuff.
Chris this is absolutely brilliant! I have watched this over and over again and have completely changed how I started my opening conversation and ultimately will lead to more closes!! Many thanks! Your content ads tremendous value.
Awesome! Thanks for the feedback. Glad it made a difference. Keep up the great work!
5:51 Yeah, that one is really tough, when someone get used to say no and they don't even listen to you anymore! It literally became a habit.
Tactical Empathy: I have received tons of unexpected information from counterparties with no oriented questions. Still a lot of practice to further achievements, but great guidance! Thank you Chris, and thank all of the Black Swan Group for your generosity with the information.
Tactical Empathy. I love his book and the philosophy of Mr. Voss and the Black Swan Group. It is so helpful in my career as well as in my personal relationships.

🙂🙂🙂 Life changing! Love the line "is now a bad time to talk? I usually use this one... catch you at a bad moment? Of course you still get some negative reactions, but it seems they are much more open to talking discussing in a conversational manner. Thanks!... got the book, and EAF also.
