Looking forward to seeing her done. Looks great! I have an '82 that I am going to start tearing down next winter. So it is nice to see what challenges I will be expecting.
Congrats. I'm pretty much at the same stage with my 78. Unfortunately, my body work on the tub is not complete. I'm at a decision point on aluminum tub vs new floor pans and bed pan.
It was definitely nice to see the paint start to go on - that means parts can finally stay on once it goes back together. The tub on mine had been reworked once before, and the floors and rockers were pretty rough...I had a bit of a limited window of time to work too, so I just went with a 3/4 tub to help speed things up. Seems like quite a few are happy with the alu' tubs and they turn out nice once done. I went with steel since I'm more familiar with it and was going for bit closer to OEM appearance on the dimpling. Whatever gets it back on the road is a good thing. :-D
I tarped under the main area, which helps, and I had the big filtered exhaust fan which helped too. You do get a fair bit elsewhere, but it lands as "dust" moreso than sticking like actual overspray, so that's a little easier to clean up with a broom or a leafblower. There's still pockets of white dust in places a few years later though. 😆
There's no heat in the garage/shop, so it's pretty well closed up for the winter. I mostly just do the work for my own projects, but if you haven't found anyone to patch your rear doors once summer swings back around, drop me an email (addr' in the channel about) and we can see if there's anything I can do to help.
For the fronts, I bent up a pair of wire "J-hooks" to reach into the weatherstrip channel so there's nothing touching where the paint would go - you can see the shape around 7:46. Leave them a bit longer, you'll want to bend the J' curve to find a balance point so the doors hang nicely. For the rears, the window opening is a flange for the window seals, so you can just hang it on a peg as that area doesn't get exposed and is under the seal when the glass goes in.
Love your work thanks for the videos. Simon.

How bad is the overspray in the garage after all that? Does it leave a lot ? Good watching your videos👍

Great work. Want to repair my door bottoms?

Awesome job mate , silly question how do u paint the part where u hang the doors up? Is there like a trick to hanging them with wire , cheers
