    Awesome. Pretty much there! I saw your comment on mud yesterday about how much time it takes to film and edit these videos. Know that we are grateful for the documentation and insight you provide. A great help to the cruiser community!

      Appreciate it! Got the next one edited up... apparently getting the front doors assembled took longer than I expected, needed to split that one into two. 😆

    What happened sir - you left us on a cliffhanger- was so looking forward to the completion and first real drive video! I do hope all is OK!

      I did, my apologies - the 40 is all together and doing well, but a job change and house project interrupted the video editing side of things. Trying to get back at it shortly, though!

    So in Wisconsin they call you a hobbyist (license plate). Ha! If they only realized the work that goes into this !!!

      Ha, long story there - in WI, they have three plate classes, all non-expiring:
      * collector (20 years or older, unmodified)
      * hobbyist (20 years or older, modified)
      * antique (older than 1945).
      I fixed my '98 Dodge Ram a few years ago, and it was old enough for the plates...but it was slightly modified with an aftermarket hood, so it legally needed "hobbyist" vs collector plates. Getting a second plate (or third, etc) is half price...so the FJ40 ended up getting hobbyist as well. (I actually kind of prefer the green plate to the blue plate anyway...so it works, and they're the same price. ) To your point, I'm not sure I'm a "hobbyist" or a "collector' though...they need a "caretaker" plate. :-D

    Very nice series, will be big help when I start mine. Are you an AME? Or pilot?

      Hope it helps - they're pretty straightforward rigs, but I did have my share of doing things twice. And good guess...I am a pilot (personal, not professional)....guessing the old Warbirds shirts gave me away. :-D I'd love to get my IA/A&P, but haven't found the time.

    Good work. Is there paint or something protecting the underside?

      I thought about something like LineX, but opted for the more OEM angle and just kept the paint all around. It does have epoxy primer underneath, which should hold up well enough even if the color coat gets a chip or two.

    I am almost caught up on my '76. What spare tire spacer did you use? Thanks!

    • @lonewolfworks
      @lonewolfworks  Před 8 měsíci

      I did a basic 2" spacer for the typical 6 bolt pattern, works decently...just a cheapo from Amazon. Since the tire is pushed out, you do need good bushings and rubber bumpers on the carrier, and the carrier adjusted well against the door to avoid any extra flex from the added leverage.
