I love this poncho! It’s so adorable and easy, too!
I made two panels 20 inches x 31 inches and I crocheted them with a half double crochet stitch. Each ridge counts as 2 rows, and I have 60 rows in each panel.
You can make it with or without the border. Either way, it’s so comfy and warm.
I used one skein of Bernat Baby Sport Yarn (1,256 yards, 350 grams) and I used a Size H hook.
The border is super cute and lacy! You can also use the border from my shawl video, too!

Just for a reference...I sat and counted the chains for the one I'm making for myself. For 26" its 70 chains.

How many chains will I have to make if I want to make a size 3xl
All you have to do is add a few inches to the length and width, depending on how large you need it to be. I do explain how to do that at minute 5 in the video. Hope that helps 😘💖 Happy crocheting!

You can use any yarn, but just make sure to use the dimensions as your guide, otherwise it could get very large of you’re using a thicker yarn, like a size 4. Let me know how it goes!! Happy crocheting 🧶🥰💖
Great design! Trying to make it for a coworker who doesn’t want it too long but wants it a littler bigger than her medium size. The original chain determines the width or how long the poncho is?

When you measure your chain do you stretch the yarn slightly or just lay it flat to ensure appropriate sizing?

Hi how much stiches must i use for an extra large poncho
Suggestion:
For the poncho with the neck flap lapel, add a small chain along the edge at the end area, add a corresponding small button to the underside at the edge. Using a button in the same color as the yarn makes it hide away or use another that could be decorative. Adding the button allows for the collar to be closed up to keep the neck warm when wanted and allows for a larger opening to help put over the head. Hope this makes sense in my description.

Oh how i wish this had some translations on the terms. I'm from Denmark and we use centimeters instead of inches and numbered hook sizes instead of letters. I'm giving it a try.

The poncho can be made with one skein, but you'll need to buy two if you want to make it with the trim. Make sure if you have a smaller skein that you buy 3 or 4. Have fun crocheting! 💖😘

You could probably make it the same size as mine. I’m 5’’3”. If your are thin, you could decrease it by about an inch. Hope that helps 😁💖
