    Can anyone tell me what the stitch counts would be for a size 14-16 (L-XL) size? I don't want to try and guess and I don't know how to figure it out as I am fairly new to crochet. I know she says add 5 stitches, but I still can't figure out whether that would work. The front panel is on the bias so do I need to make sure it fits from the shoulder to past the opposite hip?
    Thanks,
    Debra

    • @CrazyCoolCrochet
      @CrazyCoolCrochet  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Debra. For a L -XL start with a chain of 70 (a multiple of 5). Then add 10 rows. This is for each panel. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching.

    I love it how many rows for a large person,and the yarn I’m going to be useing is lion brand yarn 16oz I pound,

    • @CrazyCoolCrochet
      @CrazyCoolCrochet  Před 2 lety +1

      To make a larger size increase you need to increase the beginning chain in multiples of 5 in order to get the v-stitches correct. The poncho, while a size small/medium, runs large already so try increasing the beginning chain (for each panel) by 25. That will make it wider. Do not add more rows as that will make it longer.This is using the yarn I used in the tutorial. Since I didn't use another yarn I can't tell you if it will size the same with a different yarn.

    • @CrazyCoolCrochet
      @CrazyCoolCrochet  Před 2 lety

      The sizing is S/M, L/XL, 1X, 2X with instructions in the Etsy printable pattern. LInks to Etsy and the blog are in the description area below the video. Use a multiple of 5. I suggest a ch of 65 for the next larger size. However, personal tension, yarn used, etc., will affect the sizing. So adjust as needed. Thank you for watching!

    • @CrazyCoolCrochet
      @CrazyCoolCrochet  Před 5 lety +3

      Thank you so much for the comment and for subscribing. I truly appreciate it. If you are using such a small hook (pin?) the entire garment will look, feel and fit very differently. It will be much smaller of course, but also the weave will be very tight. It won't be airy and light as designed. Of course, you can make whatever changes you like but the outcome will not be the same. The measurements are in the comments below. Here they are again in inches. The length of one panel is 32 inches and the width is 16 inches. I don't have it in centimeters. As an American, I was only taught in inches. So sorry!

    • @CrazyCoolCrochet
      @CrazyCoolCrochet  Před 4 lety +1

      Hello Francine. The original size (Small-Medium) does work out to be double the width for the length. To make the pattern larger add to the beginning chain in multiples of 5 and add V stitch rows (recommend adding 5 rows per size increase). I hope this helps! Thank you for watching.

      Hello beginner! Thank you for your question. To increase you need to increase the beginning chain in multiples of 5 in order to get the v-stitches correct. I love this poncho and you did a great job teaching how to do it in this video. My question is this. I think a medium would be the right size for me, but I want it to be longer by approx four inches. Do I just add more rows? I'm concerned if I make the bigger size starting with 70 chains, that will make the neck opening bigger and I'm not sure how much length it would really add. Also, did I miss somewhere if you gave a gauge for the pattern?

    • @CrazyCoolCrochet
      @CrazyCoolCrochet  Před 3 lety

      Hi Paula. If it is too long you will need to use a shorter foundation chain. This uses a multiple of 5 so remove chains by 5's. If you don't want to start over, perhaps try unraveling a few rows on each panel to see if that helps.

    • @CrazyCoolCrochet
      @CrazyCoolCrochet  Před 3 lety

      Hi Terri. I'm happy you want to make this poncho, however, if you change the weight of yarn used, it will completely change the outcome. I cannot advise you on number of stitches and such for chunky yarn as that is not the yarn I used here. If you want to make this pattern as it is designed, I would use a starting chain of 85. You need a multiple of 5. Then You will need to add about 5 rows per additional size larger. The tutorial is for a size small/medium. Try 15 additional rows. I hope this helps.

    • @CrazyCoolCrochet
      @CrazyCoolCrochet  Před 2 lety

      Hi Alison. To make a larger size you need to increase the beginning chain in multiples of 5 in order to get the v-stitches correct. Try increasing the beginning chain (for each panel) by 25 for an XLarge. That will make it wider. Add more rows (try 5 or 10) to make it longer. You didn't specify a size, however just add chains in 5's to keep increasing size. Hope this helps.

      Thank you for taking the time to comment! And your concern/preference is understandable. I do address the issue in the video/pattern when I say that I use a larger hook to deliberately make it more " gapey" as you put it, so that it is NOT too warm. It is designed to not be heavy and "hot". It is not meant to be a wintery garment. We can use ponchos for all seasons. And thank you SO MUCH for your good wishes! (I'll be uploading a classic cardigan tomorrow that is not at all gapey. Please come back and take a look. You might like that one better. :)
