Manipur: "Why did I serve in Army when Nation had to fail us", Ex Armyman mourns with anger in heart

- Rocket Singh has been with Indian Army for over a decade, fought for India at places including Jammu and Kashmir. He retired recently but hasn't quit the spirit of a soldier. His son, Vaikom Sanjit Kumar Singh, 28 years old was there at the frontline on July 10, when a bullet pierced through his chest and killed him. He was one of the volunteers guarding a village in a divided Manipur. Rocket has lodged police complaint against Assam Rifles claiming the bullet that killed his son was from an Insas light machine gun assault rifle, one that is available with the forces. He admits that there was a cross fire situation and that his son like others had "picked up weapons in self defence and to protect the land". He alleged that he didn't get the minimum help from Central Forces, even to recover his son's body. "I have served in Indian Army and can't accept that central forces killed my son", lamented he. Rocket questioned the silence of PM Modi over Manipur crisis. "I was a soldier who fought for India but after I lost my son, none from State or Centre reached out to me, empathised or cared to show that they care for me", Rocket broke down in pain and anger.

This is the reason meiteis have been asking to remove Assam Riffles. Once one old lady too have cried and said in a video that the Assam Riffle fired on them while working on the field. If they are doing this then better go to other side and attack from front, this is what that old lady cried and said. They don't feel safe when they guard them. Even though the kukis fired the villagers the AR never intervene, instead they tell the meitei villagers to leave the place and run.
