- Sit in demonstation in Imphal on Sunday morning by several NCC alumni. Young people held posters demanding peace in Manipur. The turmoil has been on for 2 months in the state claiming more than 120 lives, leaving thousands homeless. Col Shanti Kumar Shepam, Ex-Serviceman from Assam Rifle is also the president of NCC Alumni, Imphal Unit. He broke down recalling how both Kukis and Meitis had together served the nation in his regiment but today stand divided in Manipur. He questioned as why hasn't PM Modi issued a statement over the situation in 2 months. People at the protest pledged unity for Manipur in the interest of a better future.

you are doing a commendable job I saw ur reporting on the recent train accident now u have finally landed in Manipur to show the ground reality all other national news channels are playing the blame game and for the shake of TRP making intellectuals fight on the live discussion but non of them could come up with solution except bifurcation of the state so-called onlookers who are residing outside won't help to get through the current situation ...my state is burning from past 2 months internet has been shut down completely corporate employee like me had to relocate from the state just bcoz I need internet service. I fully agreed Sir, 👍 💯 👌 🙌 👏, you are deeply hurts, even we from outside. I have been to different Districts of Manipur when I was working in NEC Adviser IFC . All communities were living in peaceful ✌ conditions and all of them were together actively associated in implementing these developments projects sanctioned by NEC. I have been to Ukhrul, Cherachanpur, Bisnapur, Thoubal, Senapati, Imphal East n West, and all communities were so actively involved and so peaceful living together for the development of the State of Manipur.
I think Central Government should go to the roots to find out who divided Manipur in this way. I am also feeling very painful to see killing, burning of properties. Ultimately there is no gain only lost n sadness. Let me suggest few vital opinion here.
India Economy is Fifth in the world and likely to be third in near future as Hon'ble PM stated during his recent USA visit, Then for such a good economy, why not GOI immediately announced Rehabilitations Packages to rebuild all these Damage Properties irrecpective of whose communities they belongs for Manipur.
Perhaps this assurance is the First Step that Center can create the confidence building measures for both affected people.
In addition payment for compensation for those who have lost their life and especially the breadth earners, Creating Extra Professional Medical Seats in Central Universities to accommodate Manipur students to enable them to continue their studies without much time loses as demands by them recently Perhaps this is temporary and next academic years they can rejoined their colleges.
This will definitely healed the deep wounds of both Communities. Hopefully time is the healer and my best wishes that one day both communities will reunited again and Lesson learned is not to give chance to repeat again.
