Before coming across LR Time, I would never have thought that a Sunday morning highlight would be a coffee whilst watching a German engineer with his lovely smiley wife, forensically and precisely disassemble and rebuild a British car... Fun and fascinating to watch each week, thanks.
Thanks.
Just came across your channel! I think this is one of the greatest DIY channels on youtube. Nice germans, showing how it’s possible to live with these great but whimsical cars! Love it! Unfortunately you bought the wrong Mercedes, You should have gotten a V6 diesel OM642, as it is cheap now and compares to the TDV6. Or ever the Audi V6 that is even worse! Keep up the good work! Cheers!
Land Rover should make you two instructors for their mechanics tech update days. Great video as always.
As a veteran of several autobox oil changes, getting everything within several square miles covered in oil is perfectly normal.
Ok, thanks. I do agree. 50% work, 50% cleaning. Christian
@@Vera_and_Christian Except on a Toyota which never needs oil changes! ;-)
I spent 2 years doing at least 2 autobox oil changes a week on an inferior 4x4 brand. Hot red shower every time as there was no drain. Add a rear diff oil change also with no drain.
I’ve done it I’m in the club at last …. Picked my freelander 2 up yesterday I love it 🎉
Congratulations!
Toyota guy here , but love you all L R Maniacs 😊😉
Thanks.
are you watching to see what the rest of the car owners have to do to keep them running 😂
@@josephgittos3787 I have got renault and toyotas so do the maintance job quite offten. Also like to work with my cars myselfe.
I don’t even like Land Rovers, but I love watching you every Sunday. Christian you are very knowledgeable and Vera Is cute as a button! 😂
Perfect, my favourite Sunday morning viewing, thanks to you both.
This channel inspired me to finally open the hood on my wife's LR4 Mall Crawler (and it was complaining about a low coolant level).
Good job but there is no way back now. Same as when you used the washing machine for the first time... Christian
Must give you a nice warm feeling knowing that all your fluids are changed, especially up your arm!
What a nice chap Edgar is, such a kind gesture. He must really like Grenadiers to buy two.
He is a software engineer. Everything he does has logical reasons. His plan to fix the wrong configuration worked out and now he´s got the better vehicle for less money. Well done in my opinion. Christian
LIKE THE guy from Harry's farm on here, he buys every 4x4 that comes on the market, us poor people buy used
I am also having issues with my 2010 tdv6, windows n doors on the passengers side no communication, no volts at window power socket
Edgar did a great thing! The way Vera and Christian are going they already have more Land Rovers than Harry’s Garage! Not as many Lambos though @@Vera_and_Christian
Christian......don't forget to loosen off your filler plug 1st before removing the drain plug.
Minutes later...Vera....did you loosen the filler plug 1st ??? Christian .....no
😂😂😂😂
Vera is clearly the brains in this operation. ❤❤
Nice present from Edgar, thanks Edgar we will all learn something from this lovely tool.
Yes. Very nice of him. Thanks. Christian
I invested in a Draper 10L vacuum pump for oil changes via the tube next to the oil filler cap. Works a treat for intermediate oil changes 😊
My weekend is incomplete without you guys!
Vera is spot on at 7:30
It's the lifetime of the oil (unknown due to many unknown factors when the oil was first added to the component)
So you need some comman sense and expect ' filled for life" to be 2,3,4 or 5 years
Change immediately when you take ownership of a used land rover, and change again depending on how and were you drive it.
👌👍🙋♀️
Thanks!
Another absolutely brilliant and in-depth video. the dynamic of Christian and Vera makes this channel so enjoyable, educational & funny. Edgar was kind to gift his oscillatorscope to you. What a lovely chap. Thanks for making Sunday's enjoyable
As a long term Hilux owner i don't think this is the vehicle for me 😂😂, Brilliant channel never stop making the best LR content 💪
That thing is even for Discovery driver too much. Christian
Great Sunday morning viewing - thank you 😊
Have you guys ever thought about doing an old Landrover , Series 1 , Disco 1 or 2 ?
There is a young girl whose channel is Land Rover Sophie who has . Believe it or not when she started on her first she was a secretary at her local undertaker
She impressed her local Aston Martin dealership so much with her skills they have given her a job , she is doing an apprenticeship with them
What she has taught herself is on another level , your son would be impressed with her metalwork skills as well
Have a great week 👍👍👍
Not sure what we do next. We have to finish the queen and then decide which one we sell. I got a full time job and whatever we do needs to fit my time budget. Christian
Have you seen Landrover Sophie ?
Definitely worth a look at 👍👍
@@Vera_and_Christian I doubt there is any way you will ever prise the Discovery keys from Vera ... 😂
The Dutch fanclub is happy to see another episode. Even though the Dutch fanclub owns a Berlingo. ❤🎉
We thought about a Berlingo for Robin. Christian
@@Vera_and_Christian it is the most useful car. Easy to maintain, easy to get parts. It can do everything. It is ugly and not comfortable. But regardless of the latter, like a human being with these characteristics, it can still be loved.
This member of the dutch fanclub has a load of old subjects off the queen: original RR 1e freelander and a 110 and 90
I really like the way you guys do things correctly it's a pleasure to watch.
I used to have scopes like that with FFT from the 1990s and 2000s and they worked very well to support work with my Solartron frequency response analyser. That was a blast from the past 😂
I have to educate myself on this unit. There will be a science project video on the ACE suspensionon the queen down the road. I am working on this right now. Christian
Your videos got me looking at LRs, and I ended up with a 300tdi D1 in my driveway. One thing that I really appreciate about it, is that so far literally everything can be taken out with just hand tools. I've also had a number of Toyotas, and while they don't frequently require work, when they do you need some special tool, or you have to modify your tools, in order to work on them. It's like LR knew their vehicles were going to need to be worked on, so they designed them for maintenance rather than assembly. It's wonderful.
Great stand up routine Christian and Vera. Henning Wehn has finally got competition. Although I only have a VW Tiguan, I feel fully prepared for future Range Rover ownership, apart from the hoist on my driveway that is. Best Wishes
As always I stayed in bed to watch this weeks instalment.
Great work as always ❤
Morning both been waiting all week for your video better watching you two than watching TV more entertaining 😅
Thanks.
Sunday morning, full English breakfast, LR Time : )
Wonderful to have my coffee with this Sunday morning :) Thank you!!
It should be obligatory for all people who work commercially on Rangerover, Lr3 and Lr4 to watch your videos (including an examination)!!
By the way, I guess I’ve been updated to version 3. I don’t know when, but I could find the video description, haha!
Thanks Christian and Vera for yet another skillful performance and witty comment!
😅👍Good, we got asked once at least. 🙋♀️
Excellent as always.
Keep up the good work!
Already looking forward to next Sunday...
Cold and windy here, me by a warm fire, another good programme, Thanks.
It's good to know that someone can fix your complicated vehicle's problems, cares!!!
Yet another educational Sunday, thank you Christian & 'oh my god' Vera
As always great video.Nice to see Edgar helping out and what a car he has WOW.
Classic. Another excellent Sunday morning episode. See you next Sunday. 🙏
Editing is getting better and better. Great content. Totally fascinating and enjoyable, even though I’m not sure why.
Classic LR Time episode. You two are getting good at this…
Very entertaining - Well done Christian and Vera.
Another perfect start to a Sunday morning, great video as always. "See you next Sunday"
your channel is wonderful. your passion for these vehicles and utilising them and owning them sustainably is nothing short of beautiful.
So happy to have found this Channel for our upcoming velar and discovery sport. You guys are great! Love how you guys do the proper service for the LRs. Subbed.❤
Good morning, my Sunday routine is perfect with your nice introduction about your Range Rover, Queen.😊
Don't know why but I always find it satisfying when I change all the fluids. A bit sad, but it's as if the vehicle is thanking me 😁 great video as usual
Another entertaining video as usual - and extra thanks for the link to the Service History site.
Note that you can change the make as well, so I switched it to Jaguar, and I was able to download the full JLR service record for my 10 year old XF 3.0D-S. Brilliant!
I don't know anything about land rovers but I love watching the two of you interact. You're both a blast !!!
Again a very good video!
Thank you Cristiaan&Vera.
Hvl.
Incredible video thanks a lot
Superb yet again
Another great Video from you both, look forward to the next one.
I don't have a friend like Edgar so I have ordered my must have oscilloscope from the Itchyfanny Tofu Dreg Factory Guangzhou. If it arrives I have space beside the Lathe in my kitchen. Tip Top episode once again.
Ha ha!
😅👍👌🙋♀️
Even though I only own one of the Queen's lowly subjects (D3) I am really enjoying this series of videos of the Queen and how you are bringing her up to standard. What a mess it makes with the oil change why don't they just have drain plugs on the bottom where they belong! There wasn't an out take so the test drive must have gone well😊I also use your app for recording all the 'spendies' and maintenance carried out it's a great way to see where the kid's inheritance is going 😂. See you next week.
It is possible to vacuum extract from the top of the engine. I should have done that instead but I dont have an extractor. Christian
@@Vera_and_Christian THERE IS A TOOL THAT CHRISTIAN DOESN'T HAVE?! 😝
He will probably make one himself...
I love you guys. And now the Queen is on board. Great video and content. Already looking forward to next week video and omg/humour . Thanks again Mike
Great video and good explanations. Thank you for sharing the manuals and other links.
我最近买了2015路虎揽胜,看了你的视频对我以后用车的养护很有帮助,谢谢你❤
Two class acts. Such a joy to watch Christian and Vera. Our local heroes. When are you going to to make a trip to East Sussex. The Queen needs a trip home sometime soon.👏❤️🥸
What a great job guys. So pricice. Loved it
I'll never tire of this! 😂 I'm glad I've given up drinking because I had the urge to do a shot every time I heard the word DRIBBLE. Wunderba as always guys!
LOL 😂 🏆
German know-it-all here: "Dein Wonderbra ist wunderbar"-that´s ok. There is no wunderba. No offence!
Brilliant, loving the videos on the new car...
Hi Christian and Vera, good job ✅
The Vera "OMG" count is 13
😅👌🙋♀️
Oh, wow. I cut out many more. A video like this is about 10% of the footage we film. Christian.
I love your work and humour too
Good afternoon Vera & Christian 😊 Great seeing the Queen getting all her fluids in the German 🇩🇪 hive 👍🏻 See ya next week 👍🏻 For Vera 😘 xx
Just did the front, rear differential oils and the transfer case on my L494 last week. The transfer case seems to have cured the judder I was getting when pulling away with steering lock. I just did the quick way with the fuel filter and did not remove the middle plastic trim and brace then stuffed around the fuel filter with blue roll. A bit more messy but it was too cold that day.
Still trying to find my handbrake issue though so I have something to keep me busy at least. 🤷🏻♂️😂
I am glad you don´t get bored. Christian
TY for the video, I spit my drink when you remove the oil drain bolt though.
Great episode!
I love you two ,your like proper car surgeons 😂
Hi guys from Australia, love your vids. Challenge, love to see you do an old Land Rover on the side. Back to very very basics.
Yes just simple engineering and simple mechanicing!
Simple and easy is not really our thing. 😅👍The more complicated the better for us. 🙋♀️
Great videos, enjoying them. As someone who is considering a used L405 however, you’ve curbed my enthusiasm for wanting one a lot! I don’t have any mechanical skills and I wouldn’t want one that breaks every other week. I don’t know what else to get. But I’ll keep watching anyway.
A Toyota?
@@GT380man ugly looking, crap interior, small engines, no features. I’ll pass.
These two people are worth a trip to Germany just to watch them in action.
You are a god and welcome to the L405. All jobs on my queen have been done, including a transmission megaflush.
Oil cooler job is next weekend. Ich hoffe, dass es reibungslos verläuft! Keep up the content 😊
Enjoyed the video but even my wife commented on your fantastic log pile in the background. Very impressive
😅👍That pile of wood is my pride and joy. It was a lot of work, really a lot of work, harvesting out of the forest. I have touched every single piece of wood, that goes into my oven 5 times.🙋♀️
Today Christian and Vera I have been working on my Toyota hilux in New Zealand I was installing a new radio and followed your wiring procedure plus is minus works a treat until the smoke got out hahaha. Just kidding love your videos keep it up the queen is looking great 👍
superb video - thankyou
Thanks for the video.
Nice music while changing pollen filter! 😊
Love this video! 😊
My 'new to me' 2001 Range Rover P38 Bordeaux is delivered tomorrow morning.
And you think YOU have problems? 😂😂😂😂
But that sump drain 'dribble' was hilarious. Been there and got the oily T Shirt !
That L405 sounds absolutely superb and now its in good hands it will reward you with many miles of superb driving time.
Enjoy that P38. Christian
And I dare say this again everyone needs a German uncle like this man
Love the German humour.I bought a 2011 XJ at first I loved it in the end I realised You needed to be a mechanic to own one or a millionaire with a good mechanic.
Brilliant stuff ☘️😁😁😁 from northern Ireland the mechanics I can do the electrical side different ,, my Tdv8 sport gearbox oil change at80; thousand miles,, that's why I bought it,, service is everything,,👍👍👍👍 from northern Ireland 😁
You two are great!!!
😃🙏🙋♀️
Thank you.
I don't own a LR, but your maintenance items were very well done and entertaining! 5W- dumbass...awesome! I'm going to use this oil in my Lexus!
Enjoy all you do together, educative with the right approach.
Concerning the Diesel filter, 24K miles, lets say 40K km. is in my opinion overkill if you always refill at the bigger gas stations in Europe.
Our diesel is so clean the filter can last 100K km without problems.
The maintenance schedule from the manufacturers is based on diesel in very remote, less developed countries .
Open the old Diesel filter and check it for debris.
Keep on going the good work !
True. But only one time filled at a poor gas station changes everything. We never found any contaminants in the diesel in our cars. Diesel is extremely clean in Germany. Christian
Another awesome vid guys - makes me almost want my L405 SDV8 back …..
Almost... not quite... Lol. Thanks. Christian
@Vera_and_Christian Too much of a bad experience, I used to be big advocate for Land Rover, especially helping out at events etc at Eastnor Castles at LRE, but I was treated so badly that I won’t go back.
Excelent videos as always...🤙🤙🤙🤙👌👌👌
Don’t even have a landrover but I love these videos! 😂
Thanks.
The gearbox oil filler is a beauty!
Its 70 Euro but well constructed. Christian
i found this video very very interesting i like how you research to find good service recommendations and it makes me wanna tackle my own servicing on a range rover if i had one, i own a old Series IIa SWB landrover and i do all my own work and rebuilt the engine back in 2012 very easy to do compared to the more technical 2.7l diesel in the disco, my mothers toyota corolla is barely near 100,000km and im wanting to service the trans fluid even though the dealer said oh nah we dont service that its filled for life garbage and im like nah i dont think so... the same went with some Briggs & Stratton mower engines filled for life and it was not its just a gimmick so lazy Americans didint have to drain and refill the oil on them.
but i think your videos give landrover and other owners the confidence to do their own work if they know a few things about engines etc.
If I had these skills - I would buy another Range Rover. But relying on dealers in the US - no way in hell. Awesome to see you guys doing this work the right way - such care and precision!
Great start to Sunday morning, I just bought a Toyota 😊
Great video for any RR enthusiast! I would not worry at all if I have to leave my car for some tlc with Mr and Mrs LR TIME ;) Liked and subscribed.
I haven't even got a Ranger Rover so why am I looking forward to watching you guys service one ..
😅👍🙋♀️
Nice work! Really love your content, your logical thinking and never surrender attidude. 👍 A little note on the video - it seems you forgot to drain the little turbo oil sump during the oil change. The drain plug sits right behind the crossmember thus hard to spot. At least it is on L322 body (same 448DT engine). About half a liter comes out from there. Keep up the good work and greetings from Estland! 🙂
I will check this out. I think the L405 is different but I am not sure. Thanks. Christian
best sarvice 🎉
I am astonished at the quality of your English. Ausgezeichnet!!
Black Sabbath were the very first band that I ever saw live, when I was a very young teenager. Im guessing that was Vera's choice of music 🤔 I will email you a pic of my ticket stub. Another brilliant video from you both, I just couldn't imagine Sunday morning without my LR TIME fix. 😀👍
Great Channel I always wondered what Jurgen Klopp did in his spare time amazing Man , and who said Germans don't have a sense of Humor really funny and interesting I love the Queen reference quality ....but I still believe you are both English as your English grammar is excellent even the funny quips you throw in so your English putting on dodgey German accents 😅🤣🤣A great watch makes my day , and I love Range Rovers keep it up xxx
I own a 2014 L405 V6 gas. I never get under the car or remove the engine oil drain plug for periodic oil changes. The large oil capacity guarantees a mess (5W20 in North America), so LR placed an oil drain suction pipe under the oil filler cap to connect to a pneumatic drain. It's also why they put the oil filter on top of the motor. A pneumatic suction air tool connects to your air compressor line and uses a venturi effect to draw out the oil or any fluid via a hose connected to the pipe, which itself goes to the very bottom of the oil pan. It is pretty inexpensive and very handy for any DIYer. Turn it on, sit back, and enjoy an adult beverage. Great videos, many thanks.
The queen has that too. But I thought I know better... Will get a suction tool and container now. Christian
Thanks. Your videos are the first time I have heard of the GAP IID tool in North America. Cost over USD$500. Do you recommend it because it is a dedicated LR diagnostic tool? It seems similar to a Carly device I use for my 2008 BMW, which is also a BMW dedicated device.
@@m.cooper1854 We use icarsoft (LR/Jag) and the Gap tool, with the Gap tool, you can change settings and do calibrations, you can't do that with the icarsoft. But then, not really everyone wants to dig that deep into their Land Rover. For most, the icarsoft is good enough.🙋♀
Great advice, thanks. I am very pleased that the two of you purchased Her Highness. There is very little on CZcams on L405 and lots of content opportunities for you. For example, my owner's manual under headlight bulb replacement states go to dealer.
Another great video and Paranoid by Black Sabbath, What else could i ask for. brilliant!
I enjoyed watching this video while I changed the motor oil (5W-Dumbass) and transfer case oil in my 235k mile 2006 Toyota Sequoia. So simple, so easy, and since it is a Toyota I don't have to do it again this century. Oh my God !
