    Be shure to replace coolant expansion tank cap. A number of coolant leaks are result of stuck pressure relief valve inside this cap.
    So, if it starts to leak somewhere because of pressure inside cooling system can't escape thru the valve and finds weak spots over and over again.

  • @rhkavli
    @rhkavli Před 7 měsíci +3

    When I bought mine, some 3 years ago, it just had the oil cooler replaced. Apparently it had been a severe leak, and the mechanics had done a very poor job cleaning up the mess. It was smelling burnt oil for a couple of months. But that, along with an unnecessary gearbox adaptation reset after a fluid change, that made the gearbox slip on almost every gear for several weeks, I got it dirt cheap. The oil smell slowly faded and the clutches started to grip again after it had again started to get a grip on realities.
    Looking at all the carbon buildup in your butterfly valve (exactly: It is not a throttle!) and inlet manifold, I think I've got a plan. Mine has done 208 000 km now, so I'll, at least, stick a borescope in there.

    • @Vera_and_Christian
      @Vera_and_Christian  Před 7 měsíci +2

      Mine has the slipping trans too. I did a fluid change and adaptation reset. It shifts like new but it is not as solid on launch when cold. Not as good as my LR4 TDV6. Christian

It doesn't break, the HVAC book is displayed but the heater works, and I did have problems with the engine speed momently increasing by 300rpm, changed every sensor and then found I could have sorted it by cleaning the MAF sensor, BUT it runs perfect and appears to start easy when the engine is hot.

    One solution for comfortable access to the engine bay is to use your two post lift. Raise it to just above engine height (without a vehicle on it) with the arms facing inwards then strap down a sheet of plywood with a piece of foam or similar then, with the bonnet up, drive the RR carefully under it. Shame your lift is outside as it might be a bit chilly at the moment 🥶

    That intake manifold reminds me very much of our 93 Ford Explorer . The first time took 3 hours and after 4 or 5 times about 20 minutes..

    Just a quick tip. When you buy a new battery keep the little terminal caps off it. When you pop the negative terminal of the ol’ Rangie pop one on the negative terminal. Greetings from a Toyota owner in Australia. I can confirm Range Rover owners do put the wrong fluids in the wrong holes

    A foam mat would work and make it less painful to work ontop of the engine bay. Glad to see that it appears to not be that horrific to work on. Also Happy Birthday, such a nice present, a oil leak on a cold day!

    Hi clean the container out with some acid as we do on boat engines . Great work once again and I am still not purchasing an LR . Hyundai rules 134 K miles and only The roll bar bushes replaced under warranty no brakes disc or pads replaced . Tyres 70k miles . Hence it gives me time to watch you both .🤩🤩

    Wow, what a job, happy birthday. I’ve not seen an engine bay so crammed full of pipes and stuff. At least working on that V8 means you save on gym subscriptions and that plenum clean was just in time . Given no oil leak up top was found, why did you mention, at beginning, a leak underneath?

    • @Vera_and_Christian
      @Vera_and_Christian  Před 7 měsíci

      The oil in the V runs down on the back of the engine and makes a huge mess all over. It is common that workshops do not care and prevent oil getting int othe V and then the engine will "leak" for a long time and smell even if the leak was fixed. Christian
