    • @Jens_van_den_Broek
      @Jens_van_den_Broek Před 3 lety +2

      I am a economics student. In regard to the zero lower bound; the nominal rate being zero. The central banks cant do much unless inflation is raised. Instead of aiming at 2%, the level will be higher for probably a year... with that in mind, most assets will go up in nominal!! value. Tyler thus suffers from money illusion in the last bit...

    • @Jens_van_den_Broek
      @Jens_van_den_Broek Před 3 lety +3

      @@GlennC789 inflation in itself is “good” in nominal terms. You get “richer” in face value. Example: asset A in 2020 was 10K and is 11K in 2021. That’s an inflation rate of 10%.
      That is what’s happening now. For (almost) every market this is happening.
      The formula
      real value= nominal value/inflation level
      then indicates that if the inflation level gets higher the real value goes down. (Extreme example of this is the hyperinflation in Germany during the war.)
      So in essence the real value of things goes down. Due to the nominal interest rates being low because we are still recovering form the financial crisis in 2008 the zero lower bound is reached. Therefore, the Central banks (could be the fed if you are American) needs to let the average inflation rate creep up. Way higher than the standard goal of 2%.. to eventually be able to control the economy again.
      So you are deff right. Everything shows signs of being bubbles. (Especially bitcoins etc) Even stocks nowadays are highly sensitive to the markets. And the housing market is heating up as well...
      The reason for this is quite simple. Lending money is cheap nowadays. As far as I am told and can predict the interest rates you will get at the commercial banks will remain low for at least a year and maybe stay low till 2030. 2030 is what my professor argued through demographics. In fact, you can look at Japan. They are 15 years ahead of Europe and the US in regard to everything essentially.
      Thus I guess long story short, investing now is cheap. Once the central bank nominal interest goes up, you need to watch out..

That was also how ford was with the 5.4L and those intervals caused severe engine damage and resulted in having to do the phaser/timing job $4500 after 3 years and an engine at 5. IF it lasted that long.

Starting last March when most of our state closed, he started seeing prices go up and up. By May, all of his remaining inventory was purchased up by bigger dealerships at or above his listed prices and now, in order to stay afloat, he's buying ATVs, trailers, and Nissans (yeah, I put those in the same boat lol). He hasn't had a Hyundai or Kia in nearly 6 months because the prices on them are so high at auction that he doesn't feel that there is any profit left in them.

The scary part of his ownership of this newer Land Rover was how he was able to compliment the truck only because he has a long extended warranty. The cost of all his repairs without his warranty would have been much higher than he implied. And this is a car with only 50k!

I'm actually wondering if over all those miles that's what ended up damaging it due to the way it ignites. Also the AC went out, doorhandles always broke, paint was peeling and many more things, these since were taken care of, it probably totaled itself by all the repairs expenses. Couple of things, the bigger issue for car manufacturers is that the main producer of microchips in Taiwan, had a huge fire and the factory burnt down, add to that Covid has reduced build time as more space between workers is required.
    Secondly re the new Defender, it’s built on the same D7U platform as the Range Rover, Range Rover sport, Discovery all the same platform.
    In Europe we are used to 12 month servicing or more, as most of our cars with mineral oil, compute when the service is required, based on journeys, ave speed etc.
