    I think the idea of recapturing your life via adopting a digital minimalist lifestyle is bloody brilliant. I even like the LightPhone but hate the price but happily your recommendation of the UniHertz Jelly 2 and their new Jelly Star spoke to me; that's my sweet spot for a daily driver and I still have my Cat S22 Flip as a backup headset. Brilliant stuff lad, thanks.

    Hello, Jose! Thank you so much for your videos! I had my LP2 for about a year and a half and then had to switch back to a smart phone for a season of life. I am now very happy to say that I am going back to my Light Phone! I already have most of my contacts and everything put back, and have started using it with no hiccups. I’m really looking forward to slowing my life down again!

    Thankful to come across your channel! These past few months I've been realizing how unhappy I am with my smartphone. I'm too addicted to CZcams lol, but having it on the laptop verses phone is much better. I tried a flip phone for awhile and it really helped! But I was still able to access CZcams on the browser (even though it was very clunky). I just ordered the Light Phone II and it is supposed to arrive this week. I'm looking forward to a slower life style. I also think the Eink screen will help with my eye strain and migraines. Thank you for sharing your journey!

    Hey, thanks for your channel. I believe it was you who brought the Light Phone to my attention. I've had mine for going on 2 years now and it definitely works for me. I do wish the battery life was longer, and it has a couple of weird quirks (like not being able to answer an incoming call sometimes or having occasional issues when I use with my Google Voice account), but the pros outweigh the cons by far.
    I'm a big believer in "digital minimalism" and hope this stuff catches more attention. I have real concerns especially about how our younger generation(s) use tech, and I also believe that undisciplined use of tech is contributing to poor mental health. That said, for those who are ready to dumb it down, your channel is a definite resource.

    Best phone I've had, bar none! I use it in the UK with GifGaf with whom it works well. It must be my imagination but it seems as though the battery life is now better than it was when now, which is only around 6 months ago.
    The touch screen also seems to have improved sensitivity. I wonder whether both these attributes are a result of the updates made by the Light phone company since I bought it, maybe so!
    I use mine all the time and don't use a second phone; my 'smart' phone hasn't seen the LIGHT of day since I've been using the LP2.
    Great company with excellent support should it be needed.

    Jose, I took advantage of the Light Phone discount and received the Light Phone 2 very quickly. The initial presentation out of the box was excellent. After a little apprehension and initial difficulty in migrating my contacts over from the cloud, I am finally up and running. Here are my initial impressions. I love the small size of this thing and the very clear call quality so far. I love that I'm not neurotically messing with my phone, and I am trying to get back to being more intentional. I believe that using the Light Phone in concert with an old beater iPhone during work hours (via switching SIM back and forth), that I will be able to reclaim some of my time.
    Concerns I have so far:
    You are not able to add addresses for your contacts. This is a big drawback for me. Hope Kai and Joe consider addressing this with an update.
    Bluetooth feature does not work in my 13 year old car as there is no way to enter a 4 digit pass code to pair it.
    The navigation tool may be useful for walking but definitely won't work for me as is while driving.
    It is still early days yet and I'm hoping I'll become more comfortable using the Light Phone and that this will be my go to phone. I welcome any constructive comments or suggestions.

    I wish Kai and Joe would come up with 2 or 3 different phones with different concepts taking into consideration the most common complaints people have about smartphones. That would be super difficult to do but a girl can dream. 😊 Having said that, I’m ready to buy the Light Phone 3 in 2025. I’m really grateful to have my Light Phone 2. After two years on the lightphone I came up that if Light have plan to make another device with:
    - optional accessories like "camera/torch case" so anyone can decide wheter to use or not the camera, and have a torch.
    - Banking, 2FA, NFC
    - faster E-INK panel
    - a more complete Direction tool
    - User Replacaeble battery
    - USB C
    - Higher quality MIC and Speaker
    - Whatsapp compatibility somehow, to receive calls and write messages, with the LightOS UI.
    - Voice Assistant for quick actions like "take me there" "call mum" etc..
    Then, it would be my main device.
    I switched to a Jelly, which is a complete android, and my main regret it's that LPII has the best form factor, also e-ink display which make you less addicted, also It will change your brain, for the better.
    For now, I'll wait for a newer version, since many things I mentioned, are hw upgrades.. but who knows?

I've been burnt by the Punkt in this regard. I really like your channel Jose. Your story I am sure has inspired tons of people to look at their lives and ask what exactly am I valuing when I am spending my days and nights staring at a screen. I know for me I have owned the light phone 2 and other dumb phones multiple times and they provided the basis to make significant changes in my life. I am sober 6 years, porn free for over 100 days now. I own a smartphone the Cat S22 flip but I don't use it on a daily basis. Currently on the Punkt but moving back to the light phone 2. I realized for me I just hate having any smartphone (even the Cat S22 flip) I just feel happier and lighter when I don't have access to something that gives me dopamine hits all day long. Even on a recent vacation with my family where I took the Cat S22flip instead of reading books I listen to podcasts and I did not like that. So I am getting the light phone so even on vacations I can be fully present with my family and not lead on tech when I am bored. The light phone 2 has the directions tool, calendar, which are critical for me. I almost went the Sunbeam route but I just don't like flip phones they look stupid lol in this day and age. For me, the Nokia 800 Tough hits the sweet spot. It has everything the Light Phone has, but a 45 day (stand by) battery, durability (water and drop resistant) and a really, really light and limited browser, which I only use in "emergencies", such as checking the opening hours of a certain place, or the contact info. I'm facinated by the small and light form factor of the Light Phone, but so far I haven't been able to convince myself to switch from the Nokia. Nokia costs about 120 euros/dollars.

But personally I'm about the features that I need to get the things I need to get done done.With this lens the LP is a terrible value for the money. My Cat S22 Flip,AGM M7 and even my Nokia 2720 Flip and Nokia 2780 offer more at a considerably lower price.Also IMHO the features that they're adding to the LP should've been there on launch. Last, before buying a Light Phone, I recommend watching Scott Pugh's review of the LP.

      While money is an important part to consider, you also have to remember that people sometimes just want a selected amount of features. That's why it's important to approach the switch to a dumb phone with a list of services and apps in mind

    Hey Jose! Always love your lil light phone updates, I've been following this company for a long time ever since their original Indie GoGo campaign and I'm glad to see how far the phone has come. With the HOLIDAY 20% sale and the recent improvements I think I'm just about ready to make the switch. I just had one question I was hoping you could answer, does the $10 Verizon plan include international talk and text? I live in the United States; however, I have lots of family overseas I would still love to stay in contact with.

    The ringer and text sounds also aren't loud enough so between by device being dead and being too quiet, everyone I know is frustrated with how difficult it has become to get ahold of me.
    My device also randomly cooks itself to the point that it shuts off to protect itself, usually happening (but not reserved to) the odd occcasion where I have to turn on the wifi hotspot function.

    I have some issues with this phone. I adore the idea behind it. But this makes you rely more on your other devices. So are you really disconnecting or making your lifestyle more inconvenient.
    Theres no camera for example so you now need a camera, no big deal. Just upload the photos to your computer when you get home.
    Theres only 1GB for music and you have to sync your playlist. So once again computer.
    Your on vacation and lose your boarding pass. Or checking into a hotel.
    Hold ON! Let me grab my computer.
    See the thing that makes smartphones useful no one is forcing you to use all the functions. You can make an iphone minimal for example.
    But I can see myself having this phone & everytime I come home straight to the tablet or computer for emails, uploading photos from my camera, & to sync new music.
    Those are my 3 go to’s for my phone. I talk alot & take alot of photos & listen to alot of music and like being able to respond on the go.
    Coming home and having to all that when it can just be done on a commute or out & about means when I come home I am more connected not disconnected.
    This phone would make me more reliant on my computer and have me take an ipad everywhere lol.
    Its just not worth the inconvenience.

    • @JoseBriones
      @JoseBriones  Před 5 měsíci

      Yep. It's all about the lifestyle you want. As you mention, it's not for everyone. I don't take pictures or need a large library of music. I get that for those that have constructed a certain lifestyle, it is not convenient or worth it to switch. Maybe future versions will help with this.

    • @jaimeerobertswarz
      @jaimeerobertswarz Před 5 měsíci

      I was thinking about that with the calendar. Where you need to sync it to your computer. But I use a planner. I have an LG Venus from 2008 that I wish they would just remake & update to 5G & the camera.
      The Nokia 225 is a better example of minimalism but modern and not as expensive. Cause you could just delete the social media apps. But if you need uber or maps or email its there. It also has a camera.

    • @orp5us
      @orp5us Před 7 měsíci

      While I understand that it is about intention, smartphones are designed to capture your attention.
