When ur kids are at college and ur mind is shit. And you have so many memories, your gonna wish you had more videos and a camera phone. If a crime happens your gonna wish you had a camera phone. you might remember some of 8, but probably not because 13, 14, 17, and 18 were really tough, becauyse thats a human with thoughts opininons and is changing and you will not be able store all of these cute adorable family moments. Every day i take pictures of my cat and sometimes im like why do i do this? Because i fucking adore this little shit. he is my world. Why wouldn't i capture him and make sure i never forget how he was. I dont have many photos of myself from highschool due to insecurity. Now in college it looks like am a government weapon and there is barely any record of my existence until i got 100 pounds lighter and even then, i dont have any real full body photos of myself with friends i dont get to see anymore.
People forget things all the time. Especially and unfortunately loved ones. While yes you shouldnt be looking at mechanical engineer memes shitting on carptenters. However, the idea that capturing footage of a moment isn't just for profit. content whatever. Cameras were made so families could actually have tangible memories.
I heard a story about this guy who was raised in england for 2 years or so. He developed a leads accent outside of the home, but not in the home as he was american. His mother wishes she had a phone so she could've snuck more captured moments of his cute little british accent.

actually seek help. Thats a shit take. bad take. I wish i had more audio of my grandmother before her passing. Videos and capturing memories. Does not mean your a shitty parent. I dont think that trying to capture moments always means your living out side them. Its just an understanding that moments are fleeting and temporary no matter how good they are. No matter how much you think you can sponge.

TLDR: It's amazing and you should get one. The Light Phone 2, allows you to call and text, of course, and it has a calculator and a GPS. I'm not sure if it has it yet, but eventually, you can add audiobooks and use it as a music player.
My honest review featuring some learning curves I had transitioning to it and things to consider before switching:
I got this phone, the Light Phone 2 specifically, and it was the best ever. My main issue was other people kept sending me photos and then getting mad at me for not receiving them. I told them constantly to send the photos to my email instead because you can't view photos on the Light Phones. But they kept forgetting and sending them anyway.
Also, if you type fast typically, this phone will definitely slow you down. I type fast usually, then go back and edit errors but because of the size of the Light Phone, which is the size of a credit card, you have to type slowly to make sure the letters register. By slowly, I just mean you have to be more deliberate with what you want to write if you write a lot like me. If you are visual like me, you can't see the entire message if it's long until after you send it. I'm the type that writes longer messages instead of a bunch of shorter ones. So that is something to consider.
Another thing was on phone calls, I don't know if it was an issue with the phone I had or if it is a general one across all their phones. But because of how small it is I had to constantly move the phone when I needed to hear the other person and when I was speaking to the other person. If I just held the phone to my ear normally and talked the other person would say they couldn't hear me. But once I moved the phone so my mouth was next to the speaker then they would be fine with my audio level. Again, I don't know if that was just a my phone thing or not. I bought mine 2nd hand from someone who tried the phone and it didn't work for their lifestyle. So they went back to a smart phone.
Other than that, it was the best phone I ever had. I still have it and am not currently using it, but I really want to go back to using it. I switched back to a normal smartphone because my hands were severely injured again, and I couldn't transport my camera easily. So having a camera on a phone was a better option for me size-wise for taking photos. When I had the Light Phone 2, in order to leave my camera at home, I was using a smartphone as well to take photos and videos but I would have to switch the SIM card back and forth between the phones if I wanted to send them. I'm definitely not going to have 2 phones active on my plan and pay for 2 lines so I had to switch the SIM in order to use them. If you don't mind paying for an extra phone line then you can easily have both without switching. Another issue was that a lot more companies are forcing people to "have their app in order to get discounts." And you definitely can't have those types of apps on it. And you have to tell people not to send you links to your phone, only to your email. My main issue was doctors appointments they were trying to send me links for the paperwork I had to fill out before the appointment. I would have to wait until I was home and type in the entire hyperlink. It takes maneuvering because so many people expect that everyone has a smartphone. So it's a learning curve at first especially explaining it to others.
When I had the Light Phone 2 I was so much more present in life, though when I was out of the house. And the size was FANTASTIC for putting it anywhere, even girl's jeans/ skinny jeans which annoyingly have the tiniest pockets imaginable. Or sometimes literally no pockets at all, but it fits so easily everywhere. Just make sure you have a designated home for it because it's so small it might get lost. I had a few times I couldn't find it because it fell off my bed or was in the bottom of my bag lol I got a smaller bag so I could find it easier XD

I have owned the light phone II for a few years (since summer 2020)....and for most of those years its been shelved in a box in my closet. Every once and a while when I stumble upon it I have fond memories of my desire to detach from tech, and this phone signifies that attempt. It was a really amazing idea, but the execution unfortunately was extremely lacking. If you're going to release a "light" phone that really only has 2-3 functions.....those functions need to perform flawlessly or whats the point. The Light phone was more a deterrent from even using a phone, because it was painful for any basic function (maybe thats the point?). Texting was near impossible...so why even have it. Making phone calls not the most intuitive due to the nature of the address book and scrolling through names. Navigation I never really stuck around for, it was being "developed" when I gave up on it. No offence to Joe and the team. My first phone bricked and they replaced it and were great at trouble shooting, but the phone needs major help to be a functional device, and not just a pretty piece of plastic you can use to make a statement about being anti- technology.....Cudo's for a really amazing idea, I just wish the phone itself had been built on a more solid platform that allowed you to use it as intended. I might have stuck with it had it performed decently....

I love the light phones take. I’m planning a different route. I intend to grab an Apple Watch Ultra 2. Point is I need my phone for work to run multiple apps. But I’m off 3 days a week. My plan is to use the watch to be reachable so that I can just leave my phone sitting in my closet when I’m off work and on my 3 day weekends.

Something I noticed is that when phones come out, the conversation grinds to a halt. They just aren't paying attention enough to come up with a response.

I have always felt this way about phone, apps, social media - it's a waste of time when we could.be productive in other ways if we were to get that time back. But then I think that with such quick access of the internet, emails, photo sharing, and apps - does the speed and access on your phone make up for the time lost ? I know it sounds contradicting but it's something I go back and forth with all of the time. Wasting time on my phone but then my phone is helping me communicate, share and gain access to information at a faster rate than not having my phone on me.

I love how, at the end and deep down, us humans we CRAVE for another device that solves our smartphone addiction, one that will resolve everything, one not being distracted by, like it’s so easy to just out down my smartphone in silent mode/do not disturb on the table yet our capitalist mentality make us think we need an “escape” device… we already know the answer for our screen consumption yet we lack willpower to make it stop.
Phone looks dope tho. Love the minimalist design.
