I don't get tempted to eat junk food because I hate all of it..I become tempted by all the healthy foods that I have been eating healthy since I was 20 yrs old, I am 63 yrs now...I am addicted to all the healthy foods and in the past if I eat anything that is too sweet, my stomach feels upset! Just knowing that foods are prepared with unhealthy oils, I am not even tempted by any food that are know that are dangerous for my health! I don't care too eat food that are sold except healthy salads. I prepare all my own foods....

Sleep:- go to bed at the same time every night and aim for 7-8 hours sleep.
Train your internal body clock to adjust to sleeping and waking up.

I need something to look forward to - so every dark season I start researching possible global travel. Sometimes I actually travel, too! Pics of memories, nature - and amazing places I've been or might visit - also bring joy. Go for walks and explore one's local world - by slowing and looking at things with new eyes...by looking for surprises in nature.

We are raising criminals, in some cases. As an ex teacher, I feel very strongly about our school problems. I retired from teaching, because I was threatened. Many, many teachers have left the profession, as it is impossible to teach children, who have no training at home, it would seem. It is imperative that an answer must be found. Teachers are being threatened and even worse, violated!

We need to go back to pre-1970. All should be able to have a good education like the old days. I had to read and write copious amounts of information starting in first grade. I also had homework starting in first grade that counted as a grade. One should not have to be wealthy to get a good education in America! Most students in my city would qualify for special Ed. It’s sad that most will have menial minimum wage jobs the rest of their life if they’re that lucky. There’s a big divide between wealthy parents and poor parents. And it’s only going to get worse because we are encouraging people to apps of human and like animals. My grandmother taught for over 45 years and most the students were immigrants from Mexico and she brag every day that they were well mannered and more intelligent Than the students that she taught Sunday school in a wealthy neighborhood. Now almost can’t read or write and think it’s cute to be 456 grade levels behind wealthy students. I hear that only white people read! I’m going to be a drug dealer or a stripper . Or even better I’m gonna just live with my parents and my grandma’s. It’s sad because the students were smart when they were in elementary school.

I was at primary school during the late 60s. We had morning break with a tuck shop, we then had school lunch which was more healthy I guess than canteen choices these days. We came out of school to eat jam and home made bread until we later had a meat and two veg meal with parents. I have suffered dental issues, far too many sweets and juice, my grandparents gave us sugar cubes .....can you believe that ! We were never overweight but desserts were served everyday. It's taken years to control my sugar cravings. I have managed to get my two sons to adulthood without any tooth decay. They don't seem to be addicted to sugar. Though one eats too much processed food.
I spend my life sending links to my daughter's in law with studies about food choices, to save my Grandchildren from ill health in the future .Education is key.

My daughter had seizures the first 16 years of her life. My sons intestines were bleeding at 10 years old. Both had their health restored by removing gluten. They are in their 30's now, healthy when they stay away from gluten . Yes! The guilt! I was baking them " healthy" whole wheat bread. We did the best with the knowledge we had.

Back in rural india just about 80 to 100 years ago, we ate only two full meals, once around 10.30 to 11.00 and one just around sunset or just before ..around 5.30 to 6.30 pm. whenever you needed an energy boost in the morning, it would be a hot kanji or gruel made with ragi powder, or fermented left over rice water with salt and chilli or onion.

7 minutes in. I’m not a medical professional by any stretch but I’ve learned a lot over the last 3-4 years about health, food and medical info. All started with my cholesterol battle with my doctors. However, I think the problem here is that if someone else was in this situation, they would have no choice but to follow doctors. Now you had good people overseeing your son but you also have training and know how to research and understand it. Most people in my opinion based on what I’ve learned would get to page one and close the search engine in frustration not knowing what they are reading or how it applies. As much as I’ve learned, which is a lot considering, I still have difficulty understanding how some things work. If I sent some videos to friends they would say what the hell are you sending me! This is for professionals. And that there is the problem. People rely solely on their doctors without even trying to understand at least some of what’s going on or happening. Again, what I’ve learned has given me enough knowledge that I can go head to head with my doctor of 25+ years. That’s not discrediting him. It’s letting him know I understand and more importantly have questions. We’re a team but I pay the ultimate price if WE fail each other. These are great videos and I appreciate all the information your providing.

Though I'm sorry it took the crises with your son, I am amazed at how you took that experience, studied, researched, and consulted with others above various topics. Thank you, *The Pillar of Health* is important living in the world. I'm reminded of this quote: *If your body is weak, if your body is out of shape, then it may not be able to sustain you as a vehicle in this world. Many promising people have fallen because their physical health was inadequate to sustain the life that they had assumed. Here again you must assess your strengths and your weaknesses. Everyone physically has weak links in their health. What are those weak links? Where is your body strong and where is it fragile? What must you eat that is proper for maintaining a strong constitution? You must exercise every day and find the time to do this.*
From: *Building the Four Pillars of Your Life*
Getting your life in order, then, involves also addressing the needs for your health- *your mental health and your physical health.* The mind requires some structure; *it requires enjoyment; it requires companionship; it requires relief and rest.*
From: *The Great Waves of Change* Chapter 5: Deep Evaluation
Both quotes by *Marshall Vian Summers*

I eat at 12 and 17 ….the snacks are my temptation since the shops opened. I live alone and so there is no-one but me to regulate my behaviour or habits as there used to be many years ago. We need each other to say ….’let’s not buy that” or aren’t we stopping snacks. All these channels assume everyone is married with 2 kids. Some of us struggle alone without a family to support us. My channel will be for those living solo and needing moral support to make it through these difficult times. Challenge is not quite the right word. Right now it is adjustment. And it is difficult with a disability and no support. I do everything for myself. And sometimes I go to cafes as there is noise and people. I haven’t seen anyone lately for 4 weeks. So therein lies our society and how we are forgotten at home. I joined so many groups and so on. Getting there, sitting for an hour and facilities are a blocker for me. I do on line learning with foreign language teachers and paint. My life is nothing like the majority. Yesterday I spoke to a receptionist - the first person in 4 weeks. Post covid world is worse for disabled not better. Remember we are not all leaping 2 legged people.

So, so true! I must say I use my regular family doctor to set up tests for me or for referrals to specialists. My naturopathic doctor is my go to doctor for the rest, mostly diet changes and supplements. I have gained so much understanding of food values and body works from her. My NAFLD was found on ultrasound 3 years ago, but fluffed off as not important by my regular physician. It is now much worse, but I am already pain-free, thanks to my naturopath's advice about my foods, a liver supplement , daily detox, and weight loss. I got no instruction at all from my other doctor. I felt let down. Diet and more natural medicines must be part of the medical curriculum in medical school. It is the key!

Dr. Chattergee, I find your podcasts really interesting and informative. However, as a teacher of many years, I would like to point out that schools have many pressures on them when it comes to pupils eating healthily, as Jamie Oliver found out. Firstly budgets; suppliers determined at County level; budgets to employ cooks; other parents who pack their child's lunch boxes with crisps, chocolate bars and cheesy dippers for lunch; children whos last meal was yesterday's school dinner ( 30 years ago I worked in a school where each teacher brought in a pack of non- sweet as possible biscuits for the classes every morning and distributed these at breaktime because of such children. A colleague of mine is still there and still having to bring in such things); pressure of trying to get through the National Curriculum ( which barley mentions nutrition).
I realise that you were just posulating an idea and, in principle I agree with you. I hope that this real world perspective is of some use in your future thoughts. Many thanks

You are awesome, Dr. Rangan. I am. an ardent follower of your presentations.
I am a teacher, currently teaching Grade Three. The theme we are working on entails understanding the impact of the past on our present, and my next study point would be body systems. One thing I am going to use is the journey of humans from the point of hunter-gatherers to current times and how food related to stress slowly developed and impacted modern times. Thank you for your insightful presentations. It's my dream to meet you in person one day. Be blessed.

I really value that you are going back through and making compilation videos of the various podcast guests that you have had covering similar topics. Yes we could scour your page and individually try to we find each and every one of these related videos ourselves and put all the pieces together. But I think it is a very nice revamp of the show to occasionally have these reviews it makes it much easier on the listener who is really interested in these specific topics review all the different information and experience offered by different people. It is a very digestible long podcast for show format and nice to learn and relearn the information. Thank you for taking the time to do these you and your team

I think the type of foods that pregnant women eat have a profound effect on what foods the child and then the adult will prefer. Also if a child has been eating sugar from a young age, I think they become chemically dependent on it as adults.
I speak from my own experience. I cut out sugar for 6 weeks once and the slump and depression at week 6 was horrendous. I need some sugar, I don't binge.

Take a nap, go back to work at 4:30 And eat a late snack for dinner like soup or Mozzarella , cold cuts! Italians don't eat eggs, or breakfast. Espresso and sweet bread maybe! They don't eat between meals. Maybe a gelato when they walk after work

I’ve heard a few times in this video that health isn’t just for the healthy. However, you just commented on something that’s an important difference. “To the Head Master”. These are private school systems. A lot can be manipulated in that setting when parents are paying out of pocket at high tuitions. How do you transfer that to public school when that is supported by government and subject to the guidelines / regulations of said government. Much harder task as you noted when mentioning Jamie Oliver. He tried that in the states and even making a dish with 7 different vegetables in it he still did not meet our SAD guidelines somehow.
In regard to water. Quite complicated to say the least. I worked at a private school. Had kids drinking water like mad via bottled water. Buy and sell operation. Then came the plastics reduction movement. Got rid of the bottled water. Put in expensive water distribution systems with blue lights etc. kids bought school bottles (plastic mind you) but then you have constant loss of their bottles, concerns of are they cleaning and sanitizing them, will it cause illness because of it? Like I said complicated. All to simply drink more water. And I get it. From someone who actually served meals AND SNACKS. It’s a lot. We had breakfast at 8, snack time 10:00, lunch 11:30-1:00 and end of school snack time at 3:00. cookies, wings, dumplings, pizza on different days. Understanding a lot more today. I can see how much it’s screwing things up for us. Keep up the good work.

Regarding the talk with Tim, we should start with Drs and hospitals regarding nutrition. I would love to know the percentage of overweight and obese individuals in healthcare. Most Drs/nurses cannot answer the most questions regarding nutrition. They and the scientists, should be leading the charge against these additives and junk in our food

Dr, would you consider doing an UPDATE Video on the Microbiome including an emphasis on how you go about Testing Your Microbiome here in The UK . It took me some time, but having seen that The US seem to be up and running with this in a big way, I’ve managed to find a Company that do testing and I sent off my first test kit back to them. I appreciate you would not want to advertise for individual Companies, but just the pros and cons on how to start down the track of testing . We all have to start somewhere and this is so important. Thanks for all you do. Brett
