    Good shooting Chris. I have a real soft spot for the 35. It was my first “proper” air rifle and I’ll never forget my dad bringing it home on my birthday.
    It was my dream rifle and it even had a 6x40 scope on it. I spent hours and hours shooting pests on our local allotments and got paid for my toil with apples, plums, pears and runner beans. Happy days.

    I've bought a used (very good condition) HW35K from Crack Shot, it's the classic blued steel version with iron sights in .177cal. I'm really pleased with it, price was £225, I bought a case for £20 and a tin of RWS Superfield 8.4gr pellets for £10 at the same time, so for an outlay of only £255 I've got everything needed and I'm shooting with a near mint example of this classic, accurate springer. The guys there were very helpful and easy going too, when I asked to have a look at the shooting range upstairs they said "Yeah sure, have a go with your new gun if you want, there's a space free, no extra charge" so I took them up on the offer and shot some paper targets using the iron sights. I'll be going there again without a doubt.

    Classic Weihrauch. I haven't had one yet. This gun was overlooked by many when the hw80 came out, including myself. That gun was a beast in comparison to what was around when it came out in 1980.

      The HW35 has been around since 1951 and to some it may be lacking in style compared to modern rifles. But one should ask why is this rifle still being made today? Because it is very well made and is accurate with a proven track record and is a naturally compliant sub 12 ft lbs air rifle. The big HW80 (Beeman R1 as it's know in the USA) was designed for higher power and is supplied to the UK in its unlicensed form with a weaker mainspring which renders the firing cycle a rather lazy affair. In short it is not as nice to shoot as the HW35 at UK power levels.

    Just had my 60s 35e out today it has been tuned and at 30yards it's as accurate as any modern springer it was producing 1/4 inch groups bench rested with the new 15.89 grain hn pellets and it had not been shot in 2 year's what a rifle.

    If you close the breach like you would any other spring break barrel you will end up with the dreaded leak , from the latch scoring a groove across the breach face.Close the gun with the latch open.

    They've stopped machining out the finger grove along the side of the forestock. I think that's a shame as this feature is both pleasing to the eye and practical.

    Love my hw99s, cost £200 new and will do 10 under ½" at 30m and 10 under 1" at 50m. Fantastic rifle, certainly a keeper. Not sure why the 35 cost so much more than the 99, same gun apart from the lever to break it.

    • @Seamaster1963
      @Seamaster1963 Před 2 lety +4

      It’s certainly not the same gun. The compression tube is much larger than that of the 99 and it doesn’t gall like the 99.

    • @harryzero1566
      @harryzero1566 Před 2 lety +2

      That's pretty much what I was going to add, my HW99s is my goto, when I don't have time to sort out HW100 14 shot magazines.
      I've added a HW57 underlever, because I found my HW97TK just too heavy and as I'm getting a bit more clumsy, I didnt want to damage it.
      It is like going back to shooting school using a spritely springer after being spoilt by using a HW PCP.

    • @ianwhite5799
      @ianwhite5799 Před 7 měsíci

      The HW35 has a larger diameter compression tube and a screw in trigger block , also the cocking lever is different and does not gall.

    Your "Hold", is only okay for, "Same Hole", PCP's, try holding the gun with the fore stock in the palm of your hand, with it resting on the cushion, (sorry, bench rest) You need to be in control of the recoil, without Fighting it. The Gun, (as you're holding it) is jumping all over the shop. The Grouping (though not bad) will improve - A Lot !! (I've only been shooting springers for near on 50 years, so what do I know)

    This channel has covered a few springer s now. i ve been wondering if its possible here to get say a hw97or tx200 accuracy tested then get it tuned with a reduced diameter piston,perhaps lazer glided[plastic rings] then repeat the test to see if it made it any more accurate ?

    Shooting a springer of a bag will never group as well as the rifle can perform, at 30 metres it can make 1 hole groups learn to shoot holding the rifle with the left hand and allow the rifles natural recoil proceed. Bags grip and Golding the butt firm hinders recoil. Traditional artillery hold its known as, try this out its great with practice. Good shooting.

    You should never slam the barrel shut on a 35 like that, you obviously know nothing about them, I wouldn;t touch that one now, the barrels probably bent now.
