      I bought mine in Sept 1971. Took all of my 1st months wages £29.99 It was from Allsports in Gloucester I think. As far as I can remember it was very early on when they first came into the country. Before that it was the usual choice of BSA Airsporter or Webley Mk 3. I still have it but have no where to shoot these days.

    Arguably the best of the HW range .Not overpowered,relatively heavy by modern standards, devastatingly accurate and a joy to use with iron sights.The fact that this gun is still in production says it all- from the early Fifties 'til the present is a testament to how good this gun is.The trigger is a joy in itself.

      It should be said that the latch is weak and won't hold zero with a scope. With the factory irons it is fine and a good shooter. It was designed way before anyone thought of putting telescopic sights on a springer.

      @@starling61Maybe yours is worn or similar, I've had a few 35s over the years and I've always put a bit of preload on the spring for the latch, and kept well greased, cracking rifles and they shoot better at around 14ft/lb in 22 using FTTs

    I stumbled onto your channel while looking for reviews on this gun. Man...I absolutely love your camp. At 75 years old, I still love to get out and camp at least a couple of times a year, usually during squirrel season and deer season. I am just getting into pellet guns just for the fun of it and may hunt with one this coming season. I just purchased an Umirex Fusion 2 to plink with but would like something with more quality and traditon. My mother once said, "Quality has no fear of time." I’m a Weihrauch man through and through having two HW 95k’s in 177 and 22 and the blue laminate HW97k in 22 which is my favourite and also a HW99s which is my grab and shooter for the odd rat that appears in the garden, then my HW100 KT In synthetic which is my main rat basher. I’ve had all makes of airgun over my years but have settled on Weihrauch’s for main springers you just can’t beat them in my opinion they just keep going and the build quality is second to none.

    A really classic air rifle with a good impact, I would think it is at the better end of the scale, but a scope of good quality will give this air rifle just what you need in terms of accuracy and natural look. Just wanted to say congratulations on your Weihrauch HW35.

  • @Beesa10
    @Beesa10 Před 10 měsíci +3

    The HW35 is a solid choice and remains one of the best break barrel spring rifles. Often overlooked in favour of the 'workhorse' HW80 and sleeker profiled HW95, but the barrel lock up and traditional style stock of the 35 lend themselves to comfortable and quiet operation. The powerplant design operates comfortably below 12ftlb, excellent trigger and the rifle is very well built, high quality over all. It's relatively heavy so a sling is a good upgrade but the weight helps accuracy. I have one in 177cal which just so happens to have very nice grain in the dark beech (I think) wood stock.

      Yours sounds like mine, 177 HW35 with a beech stock built in 1980, no chequering, no pistol grip, just plain beautifully finished beechwood. I've changed the breach seal but done nothing else to it? do they loose power??

    • @Beesa10
      @Beesa10 Před 5 měsíci

      @@michaelfitton4645 All spring rifles can lose some power over time. When new they may gain some power during the initial break in period as new seals bed in and grease settles etc, then over time the spring will 'take a set' and after multiple tins of pellets the spring will be weaker than it was to begin with and may become canted (bent) or even break (another good reason not to dry fire). Piston seals deteriorate over time also but remember, with spring guns power is not the only consideration. A quiet, consistent and smooth shooting old HW30 with a crisp trigger may be shooting well below 10ftlb yet the performance and accuracy of that high quality old gun will likely be much better than the majority of brand new off the shelf full power plastic fantastic break barrels.

    My Weihrauch HW35 is from 1955. Which makes it just a year younger than my Dad is. And it still shoots on point and can break a 1 mm aluminum sheet given the right angle as well as i once shot down a hanging old dusty cob web (!) from about ten meters with just two shots (one shot one half, one shot the other). Hello my friend,
    Thank you for your video. Your camp looks fantastic, a real get a way from it kind of place.
    I began my air rifling journey only a few years ago, in my fifties now. Ive wanted them all my life.
    If I may politely say, beware of the nice position you are in at the moment. Have you heard of the saying, Beware of the hunter with only one gun!
    This means, if you only have one gun, thats the gun you go yo every time, pick up and use. You'll soon know it inside out and be fiercely accurate with it, as opposed to having a cupboard full and not knowing how any of them shoot.
    Good luck with your HW35, it looks a beautiful unit. Enjoy your time in your smallholding and best wishes to you, my friend.

    Also a .22LR CZ455 Thumbhole stock, to be fair a 100 round box is pretty small too! and cheap.
    Also a WW2 Russian Mosin Nagant 7.62mm....OK the rounds are big and £1 a piece, and it aint quiet, and it aint gonna break!

    @JHenry-wv1xv Před 8 měsíci

    The trigger is insane. Adjustable from hard resistance to impalpable release. But be careful: at the very softest setting, the slightest impact on the rifle or even the weight of the trigger itself when the barrel is pulled up to a vertical position is enough to trigger the shot.
    Judging by the lightness with which you cocked the gun, you use a normal 7.5 joule spring (max. permitted in Germany for free air rifles). Try the 16 joule export spring! I did it as a teenager, the first shot went through the bullet trap (self-made from oil drum sheet metal), the door behind it (unfortunately only better cardboard) and the fuse box on the wall. That caused a bit of trouble with my father, who didn't even knew that I knew that he had this gun and where it was...
    Now, some 40 years later, the video inspired me to get the gun out again (which my father has since given it to me) and check its condition. Nothing to find, even the seals are in perfect condition.

    Great to see you. Very nice wood stock on your air rifle. I'm running a Gamo magnum 1000fps. 1000fps is just under the speed of sound. Accuracy goes down as you exceed the speed of sound due to thermodynamic changes above that speed. I'm getting dime size groups at 100 yards with a scope. I aim 4-5" lower at 50 yards. Definitely a game changer for small game hunting. Thanks for the show mate. 👍sorry

    0:15 totally irresponsible gun handling. At that point should the top sear in the trigger cassette slip or fracture under the sheer poundage that breech will slam shut in a micro second with your thumb still under it.

      Happened to me once with a HW35 as it happens.
      I was holding the barrel but too loosely and it slipped out of my hand resulting in a deep cut on the thumb from the breech.I was very lucky I didnt lose my thumb altogether.Lesson learned.

    Worst air rifle of the entire Weihrauch range. Heavy, awkward, under-powered with a latch that won't return the barrel to zero with a scope.
