I still own one in .22 from 1981. Just put n a new spring, and seals and a new barrel latch. Love the 35 to use for hunting. Keep the barrel latch well greased mate. Thanks for showing! 👍
Bought a new 35 myself a few months ago , I won't be putting a scope on it , I've a few scoped rifles , these excel with just the irons and brings back so many memories
A great in-depth video Paul. I have a virtually new Hw35 Export that I bought five years ago. I’ve put a Vortek kit in it but when stripping it down noticed that the cocking arm had scored the tube due to that infamous galling problem. It looks like this one has the nylon insert to prevent that.
Had the money in my pocket at the height of the pandemic, couldn’t find one. settled for an HW50 which was actually was 3rd choice after an HW98 and HW35. But I’m happy.
Great video and great memories, As a kid on holiday we stayed at Sunnyvale holiday camp sometime in the mid to late 1970s . My grandparents were busy playing bingo one afternoon and myself and cousin went for a mooch over the big metal bridge and had a look around the shops ,, Once over the bridge to the right were rows of little shops , We ended up in a gun shop. We had the bloke behind the counter mithered, We left with 2 milbro catapults and spinning heads after seeing all the guns . Last day of our holidays, grandad took us to the shop ( after listening to us for hours on end talking about the place) . He bought 2 Harrington gats , 2 boxes of pellets and gave them to us . Best holiday ever . Love the vids keep em coming, now subscribed cheers
I shot a 35 a few years ago and I loved the accuracy and smoothness of the 35 but then I shot a 55 with the original spring, so I lost the desire to have a 35 and didn't rest until I bought an old 55 from the 90's.
I’ve always been a fan of the 35 (export - from Optima Leisure! (Airgun World) 😄 it was the second air rifle I’d ever had (early eighties) and if I’m honest it’s all the gun I ever needed,I regret selling it to this day.Love affair. I used to love using the open sights but unfortunately my eyes can’t cope any longer.Still use a 35 std sometimes, really great gun.Very mild mannered.Easy cocking.Great barrel lock.Rekord trigger.Accurate.Reliable.👍
I got my first HW35E from Optima as well. Cost £80. I literally wore it out. I fired thousands and thousands of pellets through it . I just got a HW35 K for £140 . I prefer my HW35E.
Looks absolutely lovely, I love shooting my 99 with opens, something really really satisfying about it! I love these new stocks as well, seriously considering one of these in .177 to go along side my 99 in .22
I reckon my HW99s was an absolute bargain brand-new, £259 I think, apart from a faux mod to act as a barrel weight and cooking handle, it really is pellet on pellet. I recently bought an HW57, an underlever with the pop up pellet port, looks great with new style stock, not quite as good as the 99s, unless it's down to an inferior scope. I definately would have considered this HW35k had I known it existed. To put this praise of the 99S into context, I have HW 100KT PCP in .177 with walnut stock and my local gun shop has an HW90 which has been nagging at my purse strings.
Hi Paul, Thank you for an interesting, passionate review of this fantastic air rifle. I think I'm a couple of years younger than you, and my memories of this beauty didn't get any further than just wanting one. I'd have dearly loved one of these air rifles. The lever/catch on the lock-up is beautiful engineering. I wonder why they didn't use it on more models? Maybe it was to encourage people to buy the HW35? The writing/printing on the compression chamber is there because of health and safety I would expect. They'll have to dot every i and cross every t when making something of that nature. Otherwise, it wouldn't be long before the no win, no fee team jump in both feet. I'd expect their hands will be tied with that one. Best wishes, Paul, and thank you again.
I was shown a trick back in the 1980's involved trimming a tiny amount of rubber from the sole of an old shoe trimming it to fit in the cocking link instant click gone I am surprised it has taken so long for HW to catch on, the story goes that it was at Hull cartridges insistence, But what other changes have been made? Has the gun been blessed with an updated piston? the old ones used to slop about like a candle in a bucket. Have they got rid of the unwanted power soak? I do hope so. I have to agree with you the warning message embossed into the trigger block is truly awful probably for the US market and the stock design not to the taste of old farts like me. Still I have a late seventies Luxus and three E's to console me, lovely walnut stocks that ouse class. Now the rumor back in the day was that a Normay Vixen had been tuned to nineteen FTP I find this unlikely without major surgery to the gun, and I know the collector who holds the first vixen gleaned from it's developers estate and I am not aware of that gun being over 11 ftp's.
You /should/ be pleased... Nice grain on that stock! I find the recent barrels (with laser printing) extremely good, hope yours is the same. Enjoy your rifle for many, many years to come!
The latch is weak and will not return the barrel to zero if you use a scope or receiver sight. This gun can only be used with the iron sights that it comes with as they are both mounted on the barrel.
The best Hw model. What a beauty. I now have the same besides me Hw35e. Man , I love the Hw35k .it shoulders so nice with the new stock. I think i like the new Hw35K even over my E version. It is só ridiciliously smooth to cock. Of course I always degrease and re lubricate every springer. You only hear the smooth positive click when the sears lock. The Hw35e has a tiny crunching noise. Cant find why .
Nice though they have done the same thing with the stock to the new 80s you can get a silencer that fits over the foresight now aswell cracking gun paul 👍
When I was 10 my dad got a.hw35 basic and it was 177 taught how to shoot open sights and I got good at it , and on Christmas day a scope dad put it on and we got is zero and its the same to day but the scope was ok as we knew nothing the days I should have kept the rifle and the journey started with hw rifles and I have more then I need and have the 35e long barrel in 177 walnut and a very good scope 4-16x50 mount master and it shoots so smooth cocking is smooth and silent and deadly accurate and I in the market to buy another Hw rifle 57 or a 35k and I feel more drawing the the35k
That has real nice grain, some are very plain, definitely think these later 35s are much better than the older models, Just bought one of Guntrader l should receive it in 2 days, only paid £195 and he's paid the Parcel force 48 fee, l do prefer these K models with the shorter barrel,
@@fieldsportcymru4636 someone l know bought one last year with a walnut stock and it'd been reblued at some place in Birmingham that does shotguns real nice job it was, he paid £600 for it.
Just got mine today,,, totally magical and probably the finest quality you vould buy,,their is no finer quality,,,these are magic,,, incidentally the rifling is very shallow, which i like ,,,hope its not too tight,,mines a 5.5 mm,
I do not like the new stocks either. I feel weihrauch felt guilty about resting on their laurels which in the case of their spring line up, they could have done
Hi Paul...got a question for you, would you buy an old version of this rifle,(1975)?? Based on what you said, these early models suffer from barrel droop, am I wrong?
That is a seriously ugly stock design, and unfortunately a VERY common problem these days. I think the idea is that the profile must stand out and be recognizable in a gun rack in the shops!? How it looks is less important to the seller, almost all guns are ugly these days anyways!
It's a shame they are not the same quality, look at the state of that stock, probably still a decent gun, but they've messed with internals, you have the warning engraving all over the block and the nasty white lettering, just a step up from SMK quality.
I still own one in .22 from 1981. Just put n a new spring, and seals and a new barrel latch. Love the 35 to use for hunting. Keep the barrel latch well greased mate. Thanks for showing! 👍
Just bought a forty two year old one in superb condition, virtually unused. Still have the HW 80 i bought in 88. Superb quality guns.
Me too from the late 70's singles sided safety, much better built than the newish 35k i fettled last year for a lad.
Bought a new 35 myself a few months ago , I won't be putting a scope on it , I've a few scoped rifles , these excel with just the irons and brings back so many memories
You know ,in the late 60s i could have bought one for around £30,,,how things have changed ,,,but love this rifle,,,WOW..

I’ve had one for 23 years, absolutely fantastic guns 😎

Hw50s îs perfect 👌..watch my vieo
I also change spring..work perfect 35..40..50.mt
lovely gun, back in 1980 i bought the hw80 when they first came out, heritage of shooting these weihrauchs can't be beat.

Lol sunnyvale camp was once lifting with Rabbits ,as a kid i spent many happy winter days ferreting them from under the chalets .

Congratulations on your new gun. Looking forward to seeing it out in the field.
Beautiful little springer.
Still using my hw35 after 45 years still love it.
Great rifles i so wish i still had my old E

Is there a decent website in the UK to look at purchasing one of these.?….2nd hand and brand new?..👍
Lovely 35. I do wish HW wouldn't take the section out of the bottom of the buttstock.
I agree
On my HW35's (now sold) you could reverse the rear sight from Vee notch to Square.

I like the old grooved stock better than this condom style. The 35 is such a classic and this stock is too flashy.
