- hI every one back on the rats here in the daylight for a change using my Wolverine R 177 12ftlb with the Hikmicro Alpex on the top and it turns out quite an enjoyable night to be fair.
Most negative comments come from those who have never had to deal with this type of problem. I grew up on a farm and these buggers cause no end of havoc. Good work mate. A clean and humane way to deal with them.
Thanks Mal and ye i am used to the idiots that do not understand the Countryside.
I love it when something that was recommended is actually worth watching.
Thank you Karl.
It is amazing the way Rodents will gnaw thru Breeze-blocks, Reinforced Concrete and Steel Cladded Buildings. I have repaired Cladding Footings with Concrete and Angle-iron Shuttering for a Maltsters, but shooting the Rats remains the best way of stopping them! I like watching Hares too, they are very elegant. Thank you.
They sure do pal.
@@MikeVan-j7s Goof yourself Pal. You got nothing constructive to write, then just don't bother!
Other than the commentary, other than the marksmanship, other than the great scenery , other than the true sense of hunting , Simon, I find it hard to believe that you're one guy producing these excellent videos. I'm thoroughly impressed , a fan for life .
Thank you my friend and i really appreciate this comment as i always think i could do better at editing and such.
@@simon6ppc246 It's about the discipline for us, the vid is fine. Your meticulous habit for accuracy is appreciated. Impressive! Carry on!

Excellent video showing the perfect way of how it should be done. I couldn't believe my eyes when Hartley photo bombed the video, a stunning animal to be seen in it's natural environment albeit in a farm yard. Thank you for taking us along I really enjoyed it mate.
Thank you my friend and ye it was good to see Hartley make an appearance.
l enjoy watching your videos Simon not just because your a professional pest controller but also because l like your whole attitude to wildlife.
Thank you my friend.
Hear, hear. 👍
@@simon6ppc246 nice to see that mate you didnt shoot that young hare in that yard ...i was about 19 went i shoot a hare worst mistake i ever made i have nothing but bad luck since and thats a old saying and a hare will cry a loud noise like a baby crying ............... no please people dont shoot hares

I’m having a heck of a time trying to get a rat out of my garage. It gives me great pleasure to have watched this video. My terriers usually take care of them but they just came back from teeth cleaning at the vet. Set a trap and I’ll check in the morning.
Thanks for not killing the bunny.
Hi from Sacramento California
Thanks Joe ye a trap is the way pal
i have an old Webley 22 for rats in the garden that wander in from the farm next door. I sit in the kitchen doorway and wait for them to climb up onto the bird tables for fallen seeds. Nobody else in my village has one, but they all have cats and they get more rats than I shoot.
We don't normally call hares bunnies in the UK. That epithet is reserved for rabbits.
Sacratomato!😊
@@joelspringman523
You must be a Sacratomatoen to know that. Or at least know one lol
Good video! The daytime shooting was a nice change-up. Those are big, healthy-looking rats. It’s amazing how accurate your pellet rifle is. Pellet rifles sure have come a long way since I was a kid hunting with a .177 caliber Sheridan Blue Streak pellet rifle! Well done! Hope all is cracking with Jack!!
Ye thanks Charles and you are 100% right, these pcps these days are just out of this world with the accuracy they can produce this Wolverine of mine still just blows me away as an head shot rat at 30 yards can be achieved over and over again. You stay safe my friend.
Brings back some fond memories!! I had a neighbor who had an old barn in their (open-field) backyard & the rats came out of there like new from a factory. We used BB guns back then (most preferred at that time was the Daisy Red Ryder: this was before the pellet guns became more & more perfected; one guy had a .22 !); l later had a Crosman pellet gun and had, l think, about 30+ kills on it.. rats & snakes only. Nobody had a problem with it then, like they probably would now; we would tell the local law we were hunting rats and all they ever said was to "be careful". Good times back then- miss them alot !!
.
My dad had a Blue Steak I used'ta shootvwhen I was a kud...
i had a .22 Webley..... packed a punch,,,,
much later joined gun club still got a colt.45 1889
a magnum .44 a assault rifle , Thompson machine gun
Winchester 73 all genuine year of manufacture Ed
@@simon6ppc246 just came across your video! Awesome! What kind of pellet rifle is that?
The Hare brought back a memory of when I was flying my now 22 year old male Harris Hawk one evening, and he came across a Hare trundling across a field. Talon glided slowly over it at about 10ft you could see him thinking bloody hell that's a big rabbit. Fortunately he turned on my whistle after thinking better of it and as usual came back to me. He would have been about 5 or 6 at the time. 😎👍anyway nice change to see a quality day time rat video mate all the best from a very wet Devon 🤠
Ye thanks Gary how old do the harris hawks live to as that seems a good age.
@@simon6ppc246 usually about 25years but research now is saying 25/30 years. 🤠 however I think anything over 25 will be a bonus. He's retired from displays now although he still goes out flying, at his age he's seen it all and done it all bless him. Outlived 2 of my dogs he's been a fantastic bird and a great mate on many an adventure. I can honestly say he's never let me down. I hope to have him around for a few more years yet 👍
Hawks need to be killed just like rats because they are varmints that prey on small game like rabbits and other game animals we do not need their help.
Very nice to see your work . Daylight , clean shots and a master of his equipment. Cheers from Minneapolis Minnesota.
Thank you.
Man those rats are big as cats....amazing accuracy out of that iron, and videos are a great watch. Good show Simon.
Thank you my friend.
Good marksmanship and hats off to you for resisting that Hare. I couldn't have left it. I do like hare pie.
Lol cheers mate
@@simon6ppc246..It’s Poontang for Me 💯% 😂😂😂👍👍☮️
And I know exactly what you mean!
Great video as ever. Currently got my own rat issue to deal with, so watching your uploads is always a positive for ideas. It was lovely to see Mr Hartley Hare going about his business with no issues. You're a true professional and always informative. Hope your wing dog is doing well and looking forward to the next upload. Regards
Thank you Matt
Thanks for the vIdeo Simon. Yes confidence of your zero is crucial, even if it means getting the cardboard out mid shoot. That area should be target rich after dark.👍👍
Ye cheers, i havn't shot that place yet in the dark.
Great shooting Simon. Enjoyed the daylight session. Professionally accomplished as usual.
Thanks Dougie.
Heck of a scope, and like a whisper. Precise like a surgeon. Kudos for passing on the cottontail heh
Cheers pal.
Beautiful young hare, there, Simon - such a pleasure to see, much the same way we see them here in Cambs.
Ye 100% my friend.
Outstanding Simon can only imagine what this place would be like a night…………place would be crawling wif em!!!!! All the very best give Jack a pat from me 👍🏻🏴👍🏻🏴👍🏻🏴
Ye thanks James i sure will pal.
This is so satisfying to watch. You're quite a sharp shooter.
Thank you
Some years ago I spent four years shooting 3 and 4 position indoor and outdoor small bore competition. In my opinion your a very professional shooter.
Thank you my friend, they say it takes one to know one 👌😉
@@simon6ppc246 thank you. I tried anyway
Hey Simon you sharp shooter, lovely to see you in action 💪🏻
Thanks again Bert i did enjoy that night to be fair only 12 i think it was or 13 but ye a good night.
HI Simon nice reticle on that scope spot on accuracy mate fred.
Ye cheers Fred i do like the Alpex and the C50 to be fair both are cracking scopes.
Well done! It's always satisfying watching an expert perform.
Thank you.
The accuracy of that rifle is amazing and you shoot it very well!
Thank you Michael.
Nice 👍 similar set up, used it for the neighborhood yotes. Since elimination @10 years ago, they've not been back. Still out in the garage in case they do come back. I was out to @1/4 mile, practiced with quarters 😊
Cheers pal.
Nice to see Hares making a comeback, ive noticed in the far north of Scotland there are more Hares now than rabbits which have been decimated probably down to RHD2
Ye the same here to really pal
My old HW77, it didn't matter where you hit a rat, it would punch clean through front to back out to 80 yds. I called it my anti tank gun
Nice sound like a Nuclear missile
Great shooting as always Simon, nice trigger control!!thanks Randy
Cheers pal.
Hartley the hare, now he scared the crap out of me when I used to watch Pipkins !!!! Great video 👍🏴
Well ye come to think of it he was an horrible git 😂
Excellent gear! This is also a 'new' method of pest control overhere in The Netherlands. I live in a rural area in the northern part and our cat sometimes brings us home 'presents' like a mole, fish or occassional rat😊
Lol cheers pal.
@NI.Kink,,,hi there cat brings home his trophy's
my cat Pudwood he honestly killed rattlesnakes
so proud after ,,,, he quicker than the snake
rikki tikki tarva,,,, Ed Arizona
@edwinthompson,. All the best. Happy your cat stays safe. Happy hunting to him or her.
As always, Simon, great shooting. That tail spinning is what we call the helicopter affect. Wood chucks do the same thing when hit. Stay safe 🙏 my friend. I look forward for your next video.
Thanks Donald
Could you plz explain on this helicopter effect? Thank you..
The only pesting channel i watch, WHY! this man has an attitude to wildlife thats missing in a lot of shooters "how many would have taken that hare" got my respect.
Thank you John and really appreciated.
Its always good to see a professional doing a good job, with what looks like expensive kit.
Thanks 👍
Great video Nice to see in daylight Ive recently started rat shooting Ive got some good permissions Not too busy yet but im busy honing my skills and like you wait for the perfect head shot Much more satisfying knowing you've killed it clean Plus easier to find when clearing up 👍👍
100% David lots just plug em any where and its not right in my eyes, i would sooner shoot 5 clean than 25 all wounded
Thanks for another enjoyable video Simon. Cheers from Texas.
Cheers David.
*Simon6ppc* Bravo well done, thank-you sir for taking the time to bring us along. GOD Bless.
Thank you 👍
@@simon6ppc246 You bet.
Just now seeing this series, it is well done. I also use a .177 pellet air rifle but usually only the iron sights, once in a while with a scope if shooting at longer distances. I also use a ‘shooting stick’ similar to the one in the video. I do this as a service for the community gardeners. On occasion, keeping in mind target safety and security, I help manage the pigeon population (but not at the pleasure of our hawk population).
Brilliant pal
I actually thought you were going to shoot that Hare. I was ready for pressing the back button haha
You will find i am not like any one else on CZcams
@@simon6ppc246 Brilliant mate. Love it.
Gotta love rats eating pellets !! Thanks for taking us along.. Good times as usual..

Great vid as always, you got impatient on the last one I think😄
Ye to be fair he was just about to go behind the wall so it was like quick quick shoot lol.
Cracking video that one rat looked a bit manky there Simon Cracking shooting😊

Pretty impressive shooting at the end, when you checked the zeroing. Especially as you weren't using a tripod.
Respect maaaan☝️✌️👍!

Perfect shot placement every time the trigger was squeezed. Very impressive.
Thank you
Love watching your videos. Very professional and clinical
I appreciate that!
" That rat is very dead " 😂😂😂
Get your self a Thermtec lad 🤣😂😁
😂😂😂 yes. OK 🙄
Brings back memories of when I did competitive shoot (hand gun to long gun) and I used to go around to local farms and did "rodent control" for practice
‘Daylight Rattery!’ More great shooting Si. Although my heart did miss a beat when you sat down and spun the rifle round into position! 😂 Respect for leaving the Hare too mate - they deserve that. 😊
😂👌one of these days i won't get away with it
Great skill , onto your targets quickly , good idea to check the zeroing before heading home .
Absolutely pal cheers
My grand dad taught me how to shoot a rifle by shooting rats on his farm in Texas. Rats are horrible vermin that will eat and kill everything. We were never allowed to kill anything but rats because my grandparents respected all other animals but those damn things. Really liked this video. It reminded me of those cold mornings and evenings when my grand dad would smell like coffee and cigars.
Lol cheers pal
This is so satisfying to watch
Cheers Tony.
That little grin and look at the camera when explaining the thermal was hilarious.
Lol cheers pal
As always, good shooting Simon 👍 Except for the last one 🤣 As you said, it does happen to us all. I get a few Hartleys on my land & I love to see them 😎
Ye cheers pal lol
Grate video Simon all good clean head shoots
And you have respect for the other wildlife that may pop though your permission
Quality Vrmin control
Thanks 👍
Don`t ya just love the Wolverine? Mine is a B lite in .22 FAC which I bought new in 2014. It still holds air just fine, and when needed, it puts an 18 grain pellet exactly where aimed. A wonderful trigger helps. Like you, I shoot holes or sharpie dots on plain paper, one shot per each.
Ye too right David i really believe the best rifle Daysate have ever made and i have and owned quite a few other Daystates
Takes me back to my youth growing up on a farm shooting wolf rats with my 22 single shot using 22 BB caps from the top of our tool shed that over looked the chicken yard after a it snowed at night, that is a lot of fun, you take it to a whole other level of fun! Lol
Lol cheers pal.
Great ratting Simon good shots too,👍👏
Thanks Billy.
Very enjoyable to watch , even better in daylight , and Mr hare looked pleased with himself 😊
Ye thanks Ian i to think the same
Great footage and pin point accuracy, nice to see an honest miss as we all do it but some scabby mangy looking rats there buddy one was that bad it looked like it was wearing camo it blended that well into the wall.
Ye thanks pal that ones was a mess to be fair
Well done….excellent shooting
Thank you Tom.
@@simon6ppc246 I have a small ranch in Colorado, USA. I was in the Navy back in the 1970’s, but living out here I really had to sharpen my long range shots to control our prairie dog population. I use a .243 in the open range, but my .22 long rifle makes my animals skittish. I have a few rats in our barn….need to get a powerful air or pellet gun I think.
👍👍👍 as always fantastic job !
Thanks again Big Mac
Hi Simon,
Thank you for your video. Just looking at the buckets/containers you were sat on.
At the NEC Shooting Show last year, 2023, there was someone selling a seat that when pulled out made a drum, but would concertino in flat with a carrying handle so could be carried easily. They would appeal to birdwatchers, shooters, photographers etc. They came in a range of colours including camo for us. Best wishes.
Ye cheers Ian i usually always find some thing to sit on lol.
Great stuff Si. Hope Jack is well mate. 👍🏼
Thanks Dougie ye Jacks ok pal.
@@simon6ppc246 Very glad to hear that brother. Your health. 🥃
Seeing this video in colour and clarity like this, is certainly superior to nighttime videography..
Most interesting and enjoyable.
Ye i agree pal, the NV vids do get very boring for me just thats the time to see more of them i suppose.
Remarkable that they would come out in broad daylight like that - I can only imagine if you put a thermal weapon sight on that thing
Ye not been there at night yet pal
@@simon6ppc246 farmers I know down here in south tx do that and absolutely murder them- but they are literally protecting their livelihood - I know shooters that fly in copters as gunners for the government - they say there’s no way the population will ever be held in check- we are completely overrun
Thanks for a nother cracking video mate, top notch shooting as always, and hope Jack is doing ok Cheers 👌👌👌☝☝☝☝☝
Thanks Casper.
Top notch shooting as usual. George's buddy Tubby Tucker didn't move fast enough.😅
I bet Jack is taking a well deserved nap.
OBTW - George is rat character in another ratters videos.
lol cheers pal.
Rats sure develop a “nervous “ condition after getting shot.
Ye they do pal 100%

Great to see again. I hope all is well with you and your best friend Jack.
Cheers pal, Jacks fine but is getting very stiff these days if i be honest.

Those rats are well fed! Good shooting and glad you saved Bugs Bunny!

Great shooting Simon, must be a change shooting rats in the daytime.
Ye it was i think day light ratting rocks to just seeing loads just shot in NV as to me it just gets boring.
You don't fool me! You miss on purpose!
😂👍😉👌
Great video Simon only way it could've been better is if ol Jack was with ya.
I like to see people shooting accurately. I've never shot a pellet rifle, but my sako .22 comes close lol. It puts 5 rounds into a group that only needs a single patch at 100 meters and I'm very happy with that.
Ye i to have a Sako Finn fire which shoots brilliant Markc
Nite Nite Tubby Tucker. 😂👋

What happens to the rats afterwards? I sometimes worry that they are in the doner kebabs that I eat.
Lol they get burned or buried pal
Great vid Si, Wolverine looks a nice bit of kit👍👍👍😂😂
Thanks Eddie ye to be i fair i love it pal its took the place of the HW 100 if i be honest.
I really like the day time ratting videos for some reason. I like night videos too, but the day time videos just make everything a little clearer to see the layout etc. That one rat at around the 6:50 mark looked like he had the mange?
Ye thanks Ridin day light rules for me and they are damn hard to shoot as they seem more fidgity lol,
Outstanding! Right between eye and ear.
Really nice video, good shots. Impressive this is in daylight, never seen a rat in daylight.
What pellets/slugs do you use? Can you perhaps take us for a "gear/equipment" tour? Tell us about your different PCPs and rifles. You for sure master shooting.
Best regards, Mads, Denmark.
Thanks Mads ye i didn't really go on about what i use in this one but i will the next as i am editing right now.
Another excellent video Simon, well done.
