Starscream is one of my top favorite G1 Decepticons!!! I bought this G1 Walmart Reissue version of the Decepticon Air Commander, Starscream. I have the Encore G1 Starscream as well. Thank you again for this review.
Tip: The front landing gear can be stored in the cockpit. The only proper G1 Starscream I ever saw was in the back room of an Otasco in 1985 or 86, and I regret to this day I didn't put up more of a fight to ask if it was for sale. I'm guessing some employee set it back for himself.
Yup, I just picked up both the Starscream and the Hot Rod reissues at Walmart a couple of weeks ago. Both were great finds. :) I was especially surprised to find that Starscream was made with this much die-cast metal. I think the last TF toy I owned with at least this much die-cast was my G1 Ultra Magnus toy from waaay back in the '80s, lol. I'd imagine the reason the wings gap a bit from the body of Starscream's plane mode is because it probably makes it easier to simply flip them over while transforming to robot mode instead of having to remove the wings and fit them to the back.
Love the very in-depth review and comparison video. Have to say I'm impressed with this new reissue, the painted eyes seals the deal for me, I don't mind the elongated missiles, makes him look menacing!
They might as well make and release vintage toys of Megatron, Galvatron, Optimus prime, prowl, Bluestreak, jazz, Skyfire, the aerialbots, Powerglide, warpath, those other decepticon seekers and everyone else.

Good review, bro! But about his Technical Specifications... Hasbro mixed up Thundercracker, Starscream and Skywarp, specs by accident. His actual tech specs are: 7-9-10-7-9-9-8-8. Which are actually printed as Skywarp's, tech specs. They corrected the mistake on Transformers series 1 collection cards that came out in in like 1987 or 1988. Then they made the corrections. On some mini characters in the early 2000's But for some reason. When Hasbro does the reissues. They just refuse to correct the mistake. Lol. I don't know.
I have the actual explanation for why he has a 5 in rank. On the original toys, they got the tech specs Starscream, Thundercracker, and Skywarp mixed up
Got Optimus and astrotrain reissue and really wish I had picked up this one while it was still on the shelves at Walmart cause I didn't have any seekers as a small child.If I knew he came with the megatron gun I probably would have bought it when I seen it.
I wish I could have bought mine in Michigan! I bought mine from Walmart this past Friday in Abbeville, Louisiana. He was $34.97 at that particular Walmart.
Hasbro nor Takara can reissue The Dinobots unless they resculp the parts. The recent Devastator reissue is a new sculpt based on the classic molds. There are small differences. The Dinobot molds are lost/gone. Same for Wheeljack, Mirage, Sunstreaker, Seaspray, Beachcomber, Cyclonus, Scourge, The Original Prime mold (all that exists is the G2 mold update of the classic toy) and MANY MANY MANY more. If enough people write hasbro (proper mail), They said they would re-do the Grimlock mold. Just get a silver G2 mold. That's what I did and it's half the price.
Nice. Reminds me of the last time they reissued. Went to toysrus on the way to a dr. Appointment. Saw they had hoist, grapple and sideswipe. Picked up one of each and headed for the cash register thinking my wife was going to have my head. All three came to like 7.00. I told the cashier I'll be back in a sec and ran to the shelf and bought what they had left. Nice find.

I would pick him up for $15 but $35 is high when you already have the figure and only want the Megatron gun feature. Enjoy your reviews as always

Lol top gun was free advertisement for transformers back in the day and we didn't even realize it. I wasn't planning on getting ANOTHER starscream but when I saw that it included megatron with the prime hand.....Oh yeah. It's on like donkey Kong. Great vid.

I got screamer and hot rod for Christmas. The night before I saw devastator and I wanted him because I love g1 and bayformers devastator but they are still sold out

I found Devastator in a Walmart for 70 bucks probably not worth that much but my dumbass bought it anyways I really hope to see more stuff like that cuz if they make a reissue Soundwave or Blaster my wallet is going to jump out of my pocket

That's a good question. I didn't think the first Toys R Us reisseu back in 2002 would go up. And it has doubled in price. Even the 25th anniversary reissue from 2009 with the pink cab and the pale trailer has doubled in price! So given Walmart as the first U.S. Optimus reissue with long smoke stacks it could become the most valuable version of the 3.

Does anyone know how different the Megatron gun is between this one packed with Starscream than the one packed with the 20th Anniversary Masterpiece Optimus Prime?
The cutout is where the robot points. The original G1 Transformers boxes had them the larger the figure the more the points were. Starscream box had a 2 on it. If you acquired enough points you could send away for a free transformer! Some like Reflector and the Omnibot were only available in the U.S. through Mail away!
I must say, out of all the g1 figures, Starscream is my least favorite. There is not much to him at all, it feels like they took a few shortcuts in his design. Pretty disappointing. But the review was good though!

Then Hasbro came along and licensed them and packed them all in one toy line The Transformers! And this why they don't scale well together or some figures seem inferior to others !

The rub signs do work, but they are different and cheaper - they just turn rust colour, not multi-colour like old ones.
Wow I thought that but then just dismissed it because it was so subtle.
Actually the rub symbols are colored Autobot Red and Decepticon Purple respectively.

Cliff Jumper has only one reissue that I know of. The key chain reissue and it was solid.

To be fair Starscream was designed in the last 70's in the Diaclone toy line. Then made his way to Hasbro in the early 80's .
