I had the original G1 toy back in the day. This brings back memories.
I could never get those eye stickers on and, of course, I was 12 in 1984. I loved ther seekers so muck, skywarp was my favorite. can't go wrong with black and purple.
Have you ever heard of anyone who's favourite is Thundercracker?
@@TheSmart-CasualGamer Thundercracker was the only seeker I had as a kid....so by default he was my favorite back then.
Ah, there we go. I've always preferred him to Skywarp, but I'm definitely part of the 'Scream Team!
The way you are transforming him is how I’ve always conceived it. I would transform my Ramjet the same way. I agree. Having Megatron as an accessory is almost a must. So glad the modifications to the reissue are slight. Ugh. Never liked Bumblebee’s cartoon head, especially since it reminds me of the cartoon personality rather than the ambitious warrior depicted in the tech specs.
Lisa Simpson: Wait! Don't be fooled. He's just a regular Starscream with a stupid cheap gun.
Me: But he's got a Megatron gun. I want it, I want it...
really nice
, the old school gen 1 box really nice
I agree. I love that old style logo and box art too!
You transform him just like I've always transformed him. Who are these people who take him apart and put him back together a different way? This is Starscream, not Omega Supreme! Subbed, BTW.
Thanks! I watch you guys too! I've seen a few reviewers disassemble Starscream like a parts former (specifically seen a bigger gaming CZcamsr do so as well) and I was screaming at my monitor "No, not that way! No! Noooo!"
the best starscream review I've seen.
And haven't seen anyone else transform him better.
That Classic Starscream looks Really Sharp and your Reviews are Awesome 👌👏😎like Always Mr Rodimus Primal
I'm glad hasbo went back with the real starsrceam in his classic g1self.he's also can transformer in to he's f-14 strike eagle and not that mbay triangle shape doritosrceam
F-15*
Thank you for showing that the Megatron accessory comes apart! I had no idea and their instructions never mentioned it so I was boggled trying to figure out how to get Starscream to hold him, finally coming here. Thank you again!
Oh I definatly liked the video Roddy! I am like you, ofcourse I have the original G1 Starscream, however, I did not have the small Megatron gun until now! To be honest, I bought more than one so I could have one of the Megatron guns to use with my Masterpiece Transformers. I almost wish that they would sell just the little gun alone so that it would be easier to obtain him! It is so awesome to see Megatron the way he is SUPPOSED to be! Not some dang Tank or other made up rendition! Yes!! A gun!!! Love it Roddy! If we could only get SHOCKWAVE in his gun mode the same size, besides the Combiner Wars one! Thanks for the great review bud!!
So that's how he holds Megatron. I wondered how he did that. Great review!
Form feet and legs. Form arms and body. I like the old Voltron reference.
"Welcome home (to Rodimus' house)...NOBLE VOYAGER!" 😉😎
What do you think old Megatron 's gonna do with Starscream? Nothing gentile I presume.
Looks like Starscream found a good home after a few trips lol. Enjoy!
Thanks again! I mentioned you in the PO Box video too!
niiiice. I got this Starscream back in the summer.
Seeing Dirge and Ramjet next to starscream brings back memories. I remember being a kid in the early 200's and having my uncle give me 2 Transformers toys from his childhood-the original G1 Dirge and Ramjet. I was so happy. I had some awesome games with them. Then one day my brother threw them in the bin. I spent months searching for them with no knowledge of what he'd done. I was 10 when he told me that he had thrown them in the bin because he was jealous of how I had them and he didn't.....Aaaah... sweet childhood.
BoboFett 72, I do not recall my brother ever asking to play with them. However, I do recall him throwing one of my other toys in my baby brothers nappy and he had to get thrown out. He didn't ask to play with that toy either.
I do that landing gear hiding too
15:45 _"back in my day..."_
Yes good video Rodimus!
Thanks!
@@RodimusPrimal no prob
They did amazing job on this reissue. Great vid. ^_^
Thanks again! Till All Are One!
I have the Japanese reissue and '02 reissue. Being that Starscream is my favorite, I'm going to have to pick this one up too! Great review as always Rodimus!
Wow super awesome nice to see these which remembered me of my childhood..
Very cool, love this Starscream. I never owned a Decepticon jet. Always wanted one.
A neat blast from the past, almost tempted to go get one.
For me the Megatron accessory and fists are worth it.
I have a few G1 Toys from my Childhood and other ones I love since where the first iterations of my favorite characters, but to be honest, I´ve never had much love for the G1 toys... After I Grew up and saw how they were not like the cartoon characters. But your reveiws are making me apretiate them!
Rodimus, I admire you very much 🔥
Great vid man really cool toy
Uh oh. You said "used our imagination." Michael French at Retroblasting rages a little whenever someone says that about Transformers. LOL.
That's funny. He and I were on LioConvoy's live stream last night!
I the original Starscream for Christmas 1985. Those stupid eye stickers were such a pain in the butt to apply. I always thought that the forward landing gear folded in on the original. Although putting the landing gear in the cockpit is a great spot.
The reason I got this guy is because 1 Megatron's gun mode and I love Starscream. Good job reviewing this!!!
Thanks! That's the main reason I did so too!
I never thought you do toy reviews
I just bought this! it was on clearance so I am quite happy with myself. This was my first Transformer as a kid. I remember my mom ordered it for me from the Sears catalog and it took three months to get it. Great times.
I also worked on the F-15 for the Air Force for 12 years, so the original seeker designs have a special place in my heart.
That's awesome. The Joint Base I pass on the way to my in laws place has an F15 in the front.
I used to do the same thing with the landing gear too....NEVER lost one!!!!
Exactly. I wonder if I saved some G1 collectors some frustration.
That never occurred to me for my whole G1 Transformer playing days in the 80's and early 90's. Somehow I never lost a landing gear! I have Thrust and Starscream.
Here's another secret. The back comes off the original G1 Soundwave. It reveals the battery compartment. His shoulder cannon and gun can fit in there as the two batteries. I didn't find that out until I read it in a Transformers book about ten years ago. The original instruction manual for Soundwave never mentioned his back came off.
When attaching the fists you made is sound like Voltron was forming
Nice Rodimus
Nice video!
I need to buy this simply because of the Megatron gun 😀
I might just get the gun.
Got the Optimus and astrotrain but missed out on this one,if I knew he came with the little megatron gun I would have picked it up when I saw it a year ago cause he is one I didn't have(or any of the seekers) when I was a kid.I hope Walmart reissues skywarp or thundercracker.
Brings back the memories. He was one of the first Transformers I owned and I wound up breaking him after like the first day. I think I dropped him down the steps. That really sucked, but he was great to have for those moments.
I wish I bought more. I only own one. My local Walmart had their Hotrod's on clearance, so I bought 5 of them (only $15) and I bought 3 g1 Optimis Prime's. I'm reliving my childhood again and making sure I got backups.
My favorite Transformers character. Although I already have a Screamer, I really want this one as well. Just the painted eyes and the Megatron are enough to make me want him (plus, the Screamer I have doesn't have the long missiles, so I do need those as well).
The only parts I remove during transformation are the grey back wings, because I like to switch them around for robot mode, but other than that, yeah, I try to transform it without taking that many parts.
I had G1 Starscream back in the day. I miss my old Seekers, unfortunately I was careless as a kid. I bought the Prowl reissue that came out in the 00's, and now I think I need this. I'm not collecting, I just want 3 or 4 on a shelf. Maybe another seeker and one more Autobot to round out a scene.
Hasbro's (and maybe Wal-Mart's too) distribution of these G1 reissues must have be terrible. I browsed through the Transformer's toys several times in the latter half of 2018 but never saw the G1 reissues; I didn't even know they existed until a couple weeks ago when reviews started popping up in my recommended videos.
I stopped by my local Wal-Mart a couple days ago and found Hot Rod in the clearance section for $15 -- it's like they had a whole box of Hot Rods in the back and put them directly into the clearance section. I found the minibots at my local WM too (picked up Bumblebee) they were in the main toy section at regular price along with the over-priced and trailer-less Optimus Prime reissue.
Some of the other Wal-Marts in my general area appear to have more of the reissues, although I'll have to do a bit of a drive if I want to get the Constructicons. (I'm still looking for the Mega Construx MOTU Wind Raider so I might go over to one of these more distant WM's)
Not being able to find all the reissues at my local WM a is both disappointing and frustrating. I only had a few TF G1 toys as a kid, I ended up with a few more as my mawmaw picked them up at yard sales in the early 90s. Dirge, Soundwave, & Astrotrain were the standouts, but I know I have a few more besides (unfortunately I don't believe any of them were complete). I'd like to be able to just stop by my local store and pick whichever up, not spend 30/40 minutes driving one way to hopefully find something.
The distribution has been horrible. I never saw any but Hot Rod at a Wal-Mart 45 minutes away. I was sent these by folks whose local stores bothered to stock them.
My nearest Walmart had a ton of Hot Rods - I finally picked one up a couple of weeks ago for $15. They have since gotten in the Optimus Primes, but I'm not willing to pay $50 for it, not without the trailer anyway. As for the starscream, Brickseek.com told me a couple of nearby Walmarts had them in stock, so I wasted a day last weekend driving around and there were none to be found. I have since found that it's listed on amazon and I purchased one for $40. I do hope it's not a scam or something - I'll find out when it hopefully arrives tomorrow.
Wow you found some reissue Hot Rods on clearance for $15? I hope you bought a few. That was pretty close to the original price of the original G1 toy. I ordered a Japanese version cost me more than $15 I can tell you that.
I just got SIEGE Megatron today. My favorite Megatron now
Now THAT'S a Megatron toy that tops my list right now!
I'm diggin' the toy reviews. Those reissues are cool. I'm surprised you don't get into the Masterpiece line. As a G1 purist, I love them!
Price was always an issue. Especially now with the new ones being priced so high!
This upload makes regret not buying this Starscream when I saw him last year in the store. The price was going for $35 and I had other priority. Did did pickup Dinobot (Slagg) at a Walmart that I found him sitting there for $18. Fun and interesting review for including the other seekers. You reviews are the best then I again I am very bias to anything Generation 1 (G1) reissues.
Thanks! I hope you can still get one somehow.
I have a hell of a lot of regrets of wishing I bought Transformers when I first saw them on the shelves. I was a kid when the G1 Transformers first came out. I had to depend on what toys my parents would get me. By the time I grew up and got a job, the G1 toys were gone. I wish I bought G2 Green tank Megatron back in the 90's when I had a chance. They've been a lot of Transformers for sale since then, of course, but they are not G1. I've been selective about these G1 reissues that I've seen on the shelves. They have to look identical to the original G1 toy.
I like the fact that no sticker eyes and magatron in gun mode
G2 Ramjet. My envy is strong.
Old school G1 makes me wiah I was an 80's kid.
I wish that the optimus reissue had a hand that could hold the megatron gun included with reissue starscream
Heck with the future soundwave and buzzsaw as well, holding a megatron is always cool
They might be able to without the bottom part. I'll have to check on an older Optimus.
RodimusPrimal, cool!, I’ve just been too lazy to check, but honestly i love Wal-Mart getting the reissue’s I’ve only missed bumblebee, all the others that I’ve wanted I’ve been able to find, unlike tru
Words cannot describe how much I hate the way the Megatron Gun sits in his hand
Only way to fix it is to make a fist that can hold it properly. I think this was a decent compromise for the G1 toy . It does look weird but you don't have to plug the bottom part into his fist.
Just having the top part looks fine, putting on the bottom piece of Megatron on his hands really doesn't look right.
I love the G1 reissues especially Starscream but too bad he's expensive. :-(
He's cheap in walmart or ebay, 30 bucks or so. At times hes found at clearance for 17 bucks
@@stormseeker34 Ok thanks :-)
No he wasn't. The Walmart reissue was 29.99 if you bought him at Walmart.
Waiting for Any reissue Transformers g1 toys.
I never had the 3 original jets, but I did get all 3 of the coneheads later on.
I never got starscream when I was a kid I had soundwave though..... So cool
Starscream will always be my favorite seeker
Wow, you're lucky to have such collections from G1 up to the re-issues.
It's taken time over the years to build up my collection, replacing parts when necessary, or what have you. I wouldn't say it's been luck but just keeping up with the hobby.
@@RodimusPrimal Funny thing is that I just recall my dad bought me in Christmas '88 a toy robot that transforms into a limo and he claims that its a Transformer. I told him it is from Challenge of the Gobots but I don't know the name. He never bought any toys for me since then.
I have said before that my local Walmart had a couple of G1 figures. Now they aren't selling ANY transformer at all anymore
Very cool
Hasbro really TRAUMATIZED a lot of Children Back in 1986 with that Movie 🎥 in theaters with the Optimus Prime Death dilemma Hasbro really screwed him did him really Dirty
My uncle had this as a kid and on my 12th bday he got me the siege earthrise one
As much as I respect and love the G1 toys I gotta give it up to the master piece versions of these toys. I just got my masterpiece skywarp in the mail and he’s quite impressive. Downside is it takes about 20 - 30 minutes to transform him and that’s while sober.
Hey great video on this toy, just curious without the box, could you tell the difference between the original g1 back in 85-86 versus the reissue from Walmart?
8:54
Windblade is a traitor?!
WHAAAAT???!!!!!!!???!!?
I got it for Christmas it’s awesome !!!!
I like the original G1 Starscream much better. I had the original G1 Thundercracker, and Dirge as a kid back in the day.
I just to have a reissue thundercraker the one that came out in the early 2000s and i don't remember him transforming that way i am probably mistaking i can't remember transforming like that
I'd like to see an Acid storm G1 seeker.
If you ever apply a sticker, use tweasers or flat nose pliers. check out the brand Xuron on Amazon, make sure it is flat and not cutters.
I just got one last night. But one thing that happened was that I didn't understand the instructions about the arms. So I thought it said to bring them out to the top, but it meant move to the sides. So I was trying to put it back and I thought I was going to break the arms or the ball joints, thankfully I didn't and they're not loose.
Was that the first time you played with the G1 toy? I hope you were able to follow along with how I transformed him.
First, a clarification. Will Abbott = Waverod. They're both me. Use whichever you want.
Second, G2 Ramjet would make a good G1 Slipstream.
Thanks! I wanted to make sure I didn't forget anyone. As for G2 Ramjet, I've said that for years but he does have a lot of things on him saying RAMJET, so maybe as a custom.
18:37 G2 Ramjet is almost a conehead Slipstream.
The tech spec is still wrong after all these years. They have skywarp's tech spec still. Starscream rank should be a 9
You know, I know it may sound odd, but if the Gen 1 reissue Optimus Prime's box could double as a trailer, I would buy it. That would have been a nice compromise, don't ya think?
Should have reissued them 100% accurate to the vintage G1 toys. A Megatron gun accessory would be cool for a toy more accurate to the cartoon, but it feels out of place for G1 reissue and significantly diminishes the nostalgia factor, in my opinion. (I don't like the cartoon-accurate face remold for Bumblebee either.)
i didn't know you did toy reviews to
Did you buy any transformers from the Prime War trilogy (Combiner Wars, Titan’s Return, and Power of The Primes)?
They might as well release vintage issues of everyone else.
That would be great for a lot of them. I do wish the Dinobots and Scramble City Combiners could be as well.
Anyone wants to see the aerialbots due to they released devastator?
Where did you get that guy I've been looking for him for ages ever since they announced them
The distribution has been terrible but he was sent to my PO Box by a subscriber who found him at his local Wal-Mart, where the G1 reissues are currently exclusive. I've heard they are on clearance so hope you find them. You might also want to check online stores might have him for a mark up.
the only things I found in my Walmart was a Ridah missing a duplicating oktimus along with a few mini box ala reissues of course
1 problem at my Walmart there 40-50 dollars and I know it’s a “vintage” toy but Optimus doesn’t even come with the trailer and is 50 dollars the same price as the siege war ultra Magnus. For a price maybe 20-30 dollars I love the sets it just the prices is a discouragement for me and some other people.
I'm sad. I heard reissue...not reissue with additions. I didn't know it had pistol Megatron until after the stores here sold out. :(
Also...why do you call the decals "labels"?
Maybe its a regional thing but I and a lot of people I know always called them labels. It wasn't until the internet that I saw people using the term decals. It's kind of like Taylor Ham and Pork Roll, Soda and Pop. Maybe you can still get one but you'll probably pay a mark up online.
@@RodimusPrimal If I'm going through the trouble of ordering one online, I'm getting Grimlock instead so I can finally form Volcanicus!
Are these toy reviews here to stay? I hope they are!
Edit: imagine if they used styrofoam instead of plastic that would be cool.
can you explain the origins of the heat sensitive faction sigils that come with all figures
I know the thing came from a early 80s design for a temperature sensitive thermometer that you placed on a person's forehead to check for fevers but never "took off" as a thermometer for some reason
They were introduced onto small 'mini spy' Transformers, packaged on a lot of the carded figures. It was random as to which symbol you had, the idea being that you had to discover which side they belonged to. A similar concept was used in the Battle Beasts line.
They were then put onto all the main figures to signify that they were 'real' Transformers, as a way of differentiating them from cheap knock-offs and the plethora of other Transforming robots available at the time.
Personally, I hate them on Transformers. They look ugly and are largely redundant.
@@yunoyuluvit I feel the same way about them esp. considering they've been on them for 30+ years now
@@yunoyuluvit If that's true then I would think that the bright red or blue sigils would work just as well
I want a g1 megatron in gun mode and not tank mode.
I just wanna say. This video has 420 likes. Must be why Starscream thinks he could lead the cons.
i didnt really like this G1 version the first one looks much more well made now hot rod? that one looked nice ill stick with the master peace star screams
Doesn't he come with a remolded Optimus Prime fist to hold the Megatron
Not this reissue. The first time they did this remold, which came in a book style box and was in animation colors, it came with that Prime fist.
Will you review Machine Wars Starscream
Perhaps if I owned him
Anyone still seeing this at Wal-Mart? I'm only seeing Optimus. And at $50....uhg
I'm now depressed that I sold mine 😭
ok boomer
RIBFIR
Is it just me....or the universe is against anyone that has no walmart around?
*cries*
Its worse having a local Wal-Mart and never finding anything on the toy shelf.
*if you say so*
I just hope these reissues get released in my country some day (Philippines).
It is $20 but I live in australia :(
Where the frick is my wallet?
cam is a lil too low
I need to get a stand that my camera can sit on so it is far enough for any future toy reviews. I tried my best with the space I had available.
