Dear megaton, you're my my favourite toy I brought you to school and got expelled but the guy at the quick mart is afraid of you so he gave me some free candy
I remember my dad told me he had this figure as a kid, and he loved it. I also remember him telling me about when after he saw the movie, he tried to recreate the sequence from the movie when starscream throws out Megatron by throwing the figure in the air and waiting for it to fall on to the ground, he did it about 5 or 6 times because by the time he saw the movie, it was already broken. But I think it's a really cool story
There's actually a case where police shot a young boy because he came at them with Megatron and they thought it was real. It's why you won't see him as a gun anymore.
i remember seeing at the airport once this toy on the list of thing u can't take on the plane it said "megatron Gun transformer toy" and i just laughed if anyone tried to hijack a plane with this toy........yeah Good Review As Always Man! i really need to get one of these
Mine was found at a convention in NYC back in 2005. Dealer wanted 125. I talked him down to 100. After 20-some years, the holy grail of my collection is mine.
holy crap! I never knew he could actually shoot things, you could never get away with that in todays market, ok deffinatly getting this guy! :D with pellets.
also, really funny how in the 80s they could make a realistic-looking gun toy that was even able to shoot rubber bullets, while now they had to name a futuristic-looking gun a submarine mode (TR Sixshot) to avoid problems.
I have the original Megatron G1 from 1984, he could not shoot bullets and did not come with any. He came with a 2 piece silencer, 3 piece telescopic sight, 3 piece stock and a high density infared laser canon. The reissue, which he has here, can shoot the little red bullets that it came with.
I have two of these...one to leave in the box, and one to play with. I always folded the barrel where it was on his back like on the cartoon. I never liked it pointed forward, but there was only one episode of the G1 cartoon where he actually moved his barrel to point forward and fired...really cool.
@@Dafunk1991 no because in the bumblebee movie Travis knight the one who directed the movie wanted Megatron to be on CYBERTRON but since the film was supposed to be a prequel, he was cut Megatron was going to be shown in a g1 form, but luckily Hasbro said that bumblebee is now a reboot so there's a chance that Megatron is in Cybertron.
I used to display G1 Megs with his legs apart like that, until I brought my 8 yr old cousin the two pack chronicles Megatron. In that he is displayed with his legs folded in closer to the trigger, Which looks a lot better.
May get this just for that picture. although, I am thinking of just getting one for my mom. Cool review emgo. Never seen trigger-happy here transformed fully until now so thanks. That gun looks familiar.
Awesome! I like Megatron so much that I drew this toy with pencil and made an animation for the electro video "Madonna in Lionel Art!!! i've got the european version since my childhood and a different japanese version with the box like in the past with old illustration.
The gun and sword are just holdovers from when he was in the Microman line. When this mold was released (in the Microman line) he did not have a scope (fusion cannon) or the U.N.C.L.E. accessories.
Also some info to pass along. Why they never released Megatron as a gun again in the rest of the line. Was because people used him in gun mode to rob banks and stores. And some kids got shot by cops who thought they were pointing a real gun at them
Nice review. :) Although I do have two versions of Prime (G1 regular and Powermaster, 3 after my birthday next week :D), I never got Megatron, my parents never got him, but then, I never asked. :p I don't think my mum would have got him for me even if I'd asked though, she never really liked the idea of me having toy guns. Water-guns, yes, realistic looking ones (like Megs), not so much.
Something weird i found out recently is that the pre-production concept art for what became the Megatron toy actually looks very different from the final product, maybe most notably by having a trigger that didn't stick out awkwardly in robot mode. I can't help but wonder why this wasn't the design Takara went with, and why Hasbro didn't later on make a Megatron toy that looked closer to that. 4.bp.blogspot.com/-qDvG3JdxfGY/V29oow5KM5I/AAAAAAAALZ8/CiTA5jmImUws3wQj2AOV3AsIVfbySCotgCLcB/s1600/P38_Pre_Megatron.jpg

Me Grimlock oh. How would someone rob a store with Megatron? I guess its fake but he used it to make people believe its a real weapon.

You can actually arrange the gun accessories into a mounted cannon. The peg on the stock is to hold a Microman figure so it can sit to use the cannon.

Megatron's cannon gives him that menacing look. Without it he's just a regular robot.
The robot mode for this G1 Megatron toy is more on the engineering standpoint than on a physical standpoint.
