1st ride for over 5 months : How did I do (One swear word)

- The last time I rode the bike was the middle of August, but over the last few weeks I'd been getting on with most other things : Driving the car without too much pain, back to work, and a nights camping. I figured it might be possible to ride the bike now without it hurting. I'd picked a route with plenty of places to turn off, rest till any pain went away, and then get back home. I only used the helmet camera, cos the drift over the mirror was really really bad.

Glad you back on the bike Ray.
Cheers Allun. 👍
Nice one ray
Thanks for watching Robert. 👍👍
Great to see you back on the bike Ray!!👍👌👌🏴
It felt great to be riding again Kevin. 👌👌
It's time to admit it fella, it's time for a GS. Most riders who now collect their state pension opt for this alternative.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Good on you Ray.. Small steps my friend.. Small steps.. I badly broke my left ankle and have a metal one now.. It led to a year off the bike.. But determined to get back on it.. No long trips yet but managed 80 to 100 mile rides last year.. So hopefully this year will be better still..
Glad you're back out on the bike Phillip. And baby steps is the right way, just so yer don't overdo it and go back a few months on yer recovery. Thanks for watching. 👍
Good to see you out on two wheels again Ray. You are doing the right thing by just easing yourself back into it. No point rushing it and going backwards at this point.
Thanks for watching.. yeah, I think the bike is the one thing that could set me back months if I'm not careful. So. just start by slowly getting in longer distances.. 👍
Good to see you out and about Ray. Hope you’re over the worst and that you fully fit asap.👍
I think the worst is done,, just need to finish the job, and never pick up another mobility scooter without dismantling it first..😂😂😂
Glad to see you back out on the bike Ray 👍🏻
Thanks Darren.. good to be back on it.. 👌👌
👍well done ray good luck and all the best
Thank you.. and thanks for watching! 👌👌
Great to see you back two wheels. Is it time for something a bit sit up and beg style?
Not yet Paul. 😂😂😂
Cosmic order has been restored! Ok that may be exaggerating things a bit but I was so glad to see you back on the bike and feeling better. As someone who's been where you are you have a great plan to work back into it. It was good to hear that Kawasaki again as well - they definitely don't make them like that anymore which is too bad. Keep it up Ray and I look forward to seeing how you get on!
Thanks for watching... I fully expected a rubbish ride, rust an wobbles everywhere... But I rode like I'd never been off it. I was really happy, and working on a longer one shortly. 👌👌👌
Hi ray nice to see you out and about your ride look ok like you said you can always look at getting a small a bike i still ride my himalayan and it does me had a part new knee done in dec and going to see about a new hip in june which the doc says as to be done A.S.A.P. but will no hold my breath told i can ride my mountain bike but when ask about the motor bike the doctor shook is head but will see when the weather gets better my knee feels ten times better so hopefully we are getting there will love to catch up with you and paul and the rest of the bloody motley crue (brilliant bunch of lads) anyway we shall see look after your self ray see you soon
So glad to hear they're getting you biking fit Dave, even if it's taking time. Fingers crossed you're good for the summer. 👍👍
Take it easy Ray and be fit for the TT meet.
Not too long now.

Hello RAY I am French I live in Perpignan near the Spanish border I have been following you and your friend Paul for several years now.
I am 66 years old, I have been riding an FJR for several years and I notice that the driving position is much more pleasant than on your Kawasaki.
You might want to change bikes to have a less restrictive driving position.
I admit that at my advanced age I too am starting to see problems with my joints and if I had to change bikes I would surely take an NC 750 X DCT
It's sure it's not a great bike but it has some advantages: automatic gearbox
Low consumption and a reasonable price.
Looking forward to following you on new adventures.
Hi Philippe. I have been looking at alternatives cos' I'm thinking as I get older, something smaller and lighter would help in me old age. I don't really get excited about anything other than my Kawasaki, it's near perfect in my eyes. I can get risers for the handlebars though, which would raise them by 32mm, and will give a more upright riding position. Thanks for watching. 👍
✌️✌️✌️
Seems good but was it a good idea to do fast motorway riding first as if anything went wrong it would go wrong at higher speeds rather than say pootling at 30 or 40 mph on slower roads.
You mentioned the front brake being somewhat keen, perhaps keener than before but it has not really been used for about 6 months. Also as with the brake, what we lose, if we are not on the bike for a while certainly in winters hibernation is some degree of muscle memory.
Our muscles, with constant use to doing and making certain actions at certain times it builds up its own memory. Sometimes that can be useful as it can react faster than we consciously can so we react before we think about what to do. It eventually becomes the norm. but in some case it can be deadly as it take away our initial thoughts or considerations of what to do and causes a reaction far more quickly than we would sometimes want. Time to think, in order to sort out or control a circumstance that could prove injurious to us or others. So remember muscle memory and as you get into the swing of things it will become easier.
Hi, thanks for watching.. I chose a route where I had multiple options for stopping if there was any pain, and having a short cut home. If all went well, I wouldn't be doing much stopping, just steady riding. Next time it will be a different ride altogether. 👌👌
Ray don’t you think you would be a lot more comfortable riding with a bike that’s more sit up rather than drop bars on your zzr ?
That's a 'time will tell' sorta question.. frankly, if I can ride the 1200 forever I would. Thanks for watching. 👍👍
