I'm awed how well Vegas seems to do everything. This coming from a Leafs fan who realizes getting married to the core has hamstrung this team for years and for the foreseeable future.
it's our owner Bill Foley, the guy is successful at everything he does. I think it's his military background and discipline. Dude is the best and he does a lot in the community. How can people hate on that, I'm like bro, he's a beast.

As a Knights fan, after experiencing about 6 months of being the "sweetheart" of the league, being the villain is a lot more fun.

Vegas D is simply the best in the league. Great goaltending and all hardworking. They are a favorite to be sure.

Honestly, if we win a second Cup, I could care less about the next 10 years. They'll stay competitive ish enough to be fun for a while, but the long dark isn't close
As the fan of a team who has never won a stanley cup, Vegas could miss the playoffs 10 seasons in a row and it would have been worth it for a cup

Very happy with Hanifin! Ppl just dont understand Stone is injured for life, he will never play the full 82 again so Vegas is always gonna have some extra cap space, with some of our aging dmen i think this is the perfect addition to the team

If i look at that trade and the one the Oilers made for Henrique, or the Rangers made for Wennberg -
Hanifin should be the best deal, a 2025 first that, if it`s traded will be in 2026 - so the Flames can see a return as late as in summer 2026.
For the best D available at the deadline.
And they still have their 2024 1st and of course cleared cap via LTRI so they add another top player till suddenly everyone will be healthy once the playoffs start.
Rangers also got great value on Wennberg.
So Vegas has him for free right now and I cost a prospect I’ve never heard of, a 1st and a 3rd

@@Canadian.ReactsEh. Hanifin had some bad turnovers at the beginning of the year, but other than that he's been very solid. He can eat tons of minutes and skates fantastic.
Vegas fans will love him. - A Flames fan who watches every game, and wanted to resign Hanifin.

Can someone please explain how it ends up being a total of 75% retention on Hanifin? Because it said that both Vegas and Philly retained 50%. Shouldn’t that end up equating to 100% salary retention?
No team can retain more than 50%. So if a guy makes 10 mil and a team retains half (5 mil) then a team like Philly comes in and retains half that remaining 5 mil (2.5) for cheater Vegas.

Would of been nice but a good pass since all he would be is a rental for this year and clearly this team has a chance to make the playoffs but the past two games against Florida and now Colorado shows they need way more then just a player like Hanifin to be a true cup contender.

I don't like the fit of Hanifin in Vegas personnally but he will still help them obviously crazy how Vegas just gets the best players available every year gotta respect it. Like the return for the Flames a lot especially since they avoid paying Hanifin the crazy ask he had in Calgary
Ive seen some people happy with the return here, its not the worst return ever but i have to disagree. A late first rounder (unless vegas completely collapses next year or 2 years from now) + a second (at best) and throw in dman. Basically 2 seconds in my eyes since the late first round is such a toss up. Couldnt even manage to get an established prospect. I think calgary management made a massive mistake not trading him in the off season and trying to convince him to stay. Calgary was mid last year and everyone was predicting them to be mid again this year and thats exactly what happened. Keeping all their pending ufas woulda been a disaster imo and trying to hold on to them did nothing but force them to take whatever deal was available or lose them for nothing. They better draft well with these picks or turn em into something else or this trade will end up being a massive failure. Just one mans opinion. Great trade for vegas tho just magic beans goin the other way.
Why is Calgary keep trading within its division?
Probably because it's the best offers that they are getting, and they're more focused on rebuilding their own team then other teams success. Still a pretty funny thing you noticed though

That's not a scandal with the salary retained but if they abuse with the LTIR to just stack themself up with a salary cap way over the limit like Tampa did for the playoffs when the players comes back, I will be angry!

You can’t criticize a team for abusing the rules until they’re punished for it, but you can criticize the league for selectively choosing to punish some teams but not others
Vegas fans from what I have seen have also stopped using the excuse that their players are actually injured and fully switched to the “we aren’t breaking any rules” excuse

Everyone so jealous of Vegas and just can't admit that their front office is better at navigating the rules (that every owner in the league and NHLPA voted on in the CBA). Meanwhile, the geniuses in Ottawa are painting themselves into a corner and giving away an infinitely better player than Barclay fucking Goodrow (who fetched a 1st) for a 3rd and a 4th, while also eating half his salary. But don't worry, Florida will upgrade that 4th a whole one round...if they win the Cup (those picks are also likely to be super late, if not dead last).
If someone else is better at playing the game than everyone else and the players have the power to change the game's rules but don't, maybe they need to wake up and do so.

The league needs to put a stop to the cap circumventing Vegas keeps doing. The cap needs to be active during the playoffs, so teams won't be able to cheat the system like this. The league should make an example of Vegas and fine them 1million at least, and should forfeit a first round pick too.

tbh I think we need to revalute the LTIR rule and I say this as a Leafs fan who has basically an entire d core on LTIR right now. One Limit the amount of players on LTIR two If a players injury is considered career ending due to severity or age (Muzzin) u cant abuse the LTIR system by putting that players contract on LTIR till it expires and the GM is the idoit who thought its a good idea to sign a d man who was known to be injury prone to a five year contract (sorry but Im venting my trauma as a Leafs fan) at THIRTY FUCKING FIVE YEARS OLD.

Calgary guy here and really Hanafin is soft, doesn't hit, doesn't block shots, always comes out of the corner empty handed. Likes to fish around with his stick rather than check. Spent a lot of time fishing the puck out of our net too.He's like diet Bouwmeester, but way dumber. Gets burnt A LOT. Take the 1st (whatever year) and laugh.
