So the best package was not so hot. Shit happens.
He only had an 8 team no trade which would have had to have been submitted ages ago, so he couldn't block to any team outside the 8 - his agent did the Flames dirty though and applied a ton of pressure to try to pigeon hole them beyond the 8 team no trade.
From Vegas, thanks Consy!! Hanifin is a beast and will shore up our D. Hate to lose Miro, he will be a solid d man for a long time I believe. Go Knights Go!

Was really expecting the return on Hanifin to include a well known , 20 year old , blue chip prospect. All these 1st round picks are nice , but they’re all going to be in the 23rd to 30th pick range. This has quickly turned into a rebuild rather than a re-tool imo ... and with a lot of low , first round picks that may not amount to anything.
No body is paying a well known, young, blue chip prospect for a 2 month rental. Mayne if hanifin wanted to work with the flames.. but his agent made it clear that wasn't happening.
What should we have got? I know it's not CALLE JARNKROK. but what can we get Treliving established the gold platinum titanium standard with CALLE JARNKROK. best trade ever. 3 picks for CALLE JARNKROK..
If a couple of his many first rounders turn out to be good NHL players or trade bait for good players then he did well , its just too early to really know .....besides none of the departing players were going to sign ...the flames need players who are signed to contracts, players who are on entry-level deals and signed players that are soon to be be RFA and are willing to resign.
None of you know about the prospect. A Vegas 2026 first could potentially be a lottery pick. A 2nd/3rd has value. This is the same value as chychrun and boumeester. Fans are so silly expecting more for a ufa rental that Vegas doesn’t have the money to sign. A first a second and a prospect for a dude testing FA in a few months. Stop crying.
I think that the league as a whole has started a trend where GMs and the media have fallen into a mindset that picks are a valueable way of keeping score in the trade deals. Too much emphasis on the quantity instead of the quality. A deal gets done and kudos are given to GMs because they got a handful of 4 and 5 round picks as though those picks help justify the deal . Its like picks after the 1st round are displayed as tokens of winning when in reality they are the saddest kind of longshot pretending to be a brilliant bargaining chip. Like trinkets. I blame the media more than the GMs really. The media are always trying to make a story where none exists so they flap their gums about who won the most useless picks to try to pretend that its an integral factor in keeping score of a GMs prowess. You cant quantify the value of a 3,4,5th round pick. Most of them will not play in the NHL ever. Thats a fact.
I find it extremely amusing that all the big talk of Conroy wanting a 1st, a roster player and prospects at minimum BUT then he only gets a 1st, no roster player and a journeyman 26 year old AHLer that Vegas didn’t want to resign. If the flames wanted a 26 year old AHLer, they should have just resigned Matthew Phillips. At least Phillips has more upside LMAO
Let me get this straight, they got a journey man AHLer that is 26 year old that Vegas didn’t want to resign and was basically a throwaway player in the deal. If he was so coveted, you would think Boris would have made it to the nhl by now. Face it, Connie got Conned once again just like he did in the Tanev deal
you clearly don't understand no one is paying a first rounder for a 32 year old dman without the flames taking a huge salary dump that's why they didn't take it Conroy wants to be younger and have alot of cap space

Are you taking advantage of me Denver? I don’t want to screw this up and find myself stuck in the Mittelstadt. OH SNAP. Is that why!? Ooohhh Rocky Mountain high! Look at you guys! Or would you rather have the older, less accomplished, less talented Scott Walker? I’m sure gonna miss Noah and I’d really like to not have him in my division, retain the majority of his salary that COULD be spent on Johansen. We could play our friend Yegor on the Wing again! 2025 MEANS 2025 right? Ryan Johansen is a steal for us! Philly will not even appreciate him. We KNOW you like Ryan the same way we like Noah. Let us take him on a playoff run. 🙁

Playoffs did he say playoffs? I just hope we have a team after this missed postseason again
What you mean have a team? are they leaving the city?
Let me get this straight, they got a journey man AHLer that is 26 year old that Vegas didn’t want to resign and was basically a throwaway player in the deal. If he was so coveted, you would think Boris would have made it to the nhl by now. Face it, Connie got Conned once again just like he did in the Tanev deal
you clearly don't understand no one is paying a first rounder for a 32 year old dman without the flames taking a huge salary dump that's why they didn't take it Conroy wants to be younger and have alot of cap space
Yeet
DENVER can I have that 2025 First Round Pick please? Hey and we’ll be happy to take Ryan Johansen!
He’s signed for ANOTHER year, you say!? But you will retain HALF of the HALF retained by Nashville!?
🙁
Conroy, gambling on the future
Conroy did well Trading Forwards Toffoli & Lindholm, but not so well on the 3 D-Men we lost in Zadorov, Tanev and Hanifin
Zadorov is mid. Tanev is old and a injury liability. Hanny likely fucked us with the news getting out that he wanted to leave. Conroy has done well. And if these picks and players pan out then I say he's done great.
@@meme_ajinnot to mention Zad wanted out, we're lucky we didn't have to pay a pick for someone to take him lol
Somebody buy Craig another black vest
Brutal trade
Brutal take
Good trade.
@@meme_ajin cope harder. Late first rounder + second at best + a throw in dman. No prospects. Shoulda traded him in the off season everyone and their mother knew he wasn't coming back and that this team is mid.
@@michaelb5119 Yeah that would be worst. What offseason before the draft? He was a UFA and that would be worst to let him go without return in picks.
@@andrewsick9003 what are you even saying? They shoulda traded him last off-season and whoever got him got the full final year of his contract. Idk what you're saying about him being a Ufa his contract expires at the end of this year.
CaLgary fLames
Great work Craig. Hanafin is soft, doesn't hit, doesn't block shots, always comes out of the corner empty handed. Likes to fish around with his stick rather than check. Spent a lot of time fishing the puck out of our net too. He's like diet Bouwmeester, but way dumber. Gets burnt A LOT. Take the 1st (whatever year) and laugh.
Brace yourselves Flames' fans, its going to be a long rebuild.
Should’ve started last year
We’re bad again
I think it was a bad deal
I think it was an average deal
🤨
Not a good return, at least should not have been moved to another team in the same division. Should have shipped him off to a team he didn't want to goto to return the favor for the handcuffing CGY.
Not a good take.
Who cares who we help...its about our team and getting what we could...not a fan of the rade but to make deal out of spite is as dumb as suggesting it
Calgary is turning into team Russia. Is it because no other nationality wants to play here?
Surely it has nothing to do with Russia birthing some of the best hockey players on earth. Not saying these guys are the best but I'm sure you understand.
I think some people have forgotten how good Russians are, just because they’ve been banned from representing their country because all the world stage hockey tournaments are run by westerners with Muh-Russia-Hoax and Vodka-Man-Bad Russian derangement syndrome. Russians are the best hockey players on earth, second only to Canadians. Americans are third. Swedes and Finns are 4th and 5th. Losing a Canadian player for a Russian is the least of our worries.
@@meme_ajin^^^^
@meme_ajin Russian hockey players are also ussally big guys who can throw hits and calgary needs to be a team that can throw hits
Get rid of conroy before flames have no real players left just no name and picks that won’t help for years to come. Players don’t want to stay in Calgary that has no future to compete
So then who do you want as a GM? If you want Conroy gone.
@@andrewsick9003 anyone with experience but too late now he’s selling the roster can’t go back. Should have did something in October and November when the team was in a big slump now they can’t recover and will miss the playoffs by a few points again. Oilers were in the same boat but their gm pulled the trigger and now look at them off to the playoffs once again meanwhile our team is chasing and the roster is getting thinned out
@@keliauger8820 you probably don’t understand he was trading player that is not going to resign. I think other GMs will do the same. Even with experience will do the same. We are 7 points out and now we can get some in return . Now the question is what is he going to do in the offseason with all of assets and cap space. How he can sign player and make trades to get some real good players. I think he has a plan and we need to trust him.
@@keliauger8820use some critical thinking PLEASE. We traded away every pending UFA, all of which were NOT signing with us. You want to barely make playoffs just to lose in the first round and have all those players walk out for nothing?
@@Skynexstar I apologize I was a bit upset of the return for hannifin. The team is still solid when they want to be see how they handle themselves from here to mid April.
Horrible trade conroy
We got scammed bruh, I at least wanted David Edstrom or Daniil Chayka. Who tf even is Miromanov

Brutal return. Starting to think Conroy is not a very good GM.
Brutal take
@@meme_ajin Henrique WITHOUT retention got the Ducks a first round pick. You're delusional if you think this is a solid return for the best defenceman on the trade deadline block.
You seriously think it’s Conroy’s fault for getting the best available deal? IF THERE WAS A BETTER DEAL HE WOULD’VE TAKE IT. He is trying to make our team as good as possible, he’s trying to clean up the DISASTER left by Treliving, and he’s trying to do the best he can while being constrained by upper management and ownership.
If you’d make a better GM then go ahead and apply for the position.
Oh, that’s right, you wouldn’t.
Literally take your mouth and shut it the FUCK up.
Moron detected. Opinion rejected.
What is brutal on the return. What would be a good trade for Conroy?
Flames get burnt on every single trade every single time!
Nah
@@JesusFriedChrist Says the Oiler fan?
Won the Sharangovich trade, Lindholm is even worse in Van then he was in Calgary. Both of those trades are looking good.
Tf u on Lindholm trade was great, sharangovich trade is working out pretty good, tanev is a 34 year old rental no way in hell were we gonna get a 1st for him grush is a good prospect, hanifin hand cuffed us and you win some you lose some but at least we got something for him treliving probably would’ve let 3/4 of those guys walk for nothing and vastly over paid one conroy has already done more for the future of this team than treliving did in 9 years
@Euphoric_Toast there is talk about lindholm being traded so flames definitely won
Fire Conroy now just awful trades he's not the GM to take the Calgary flames forward, he is destroying the flames, craig Conroy is out of his depth
Okay if you want to fire Conroy then who should be the GM? I want names.
Atrocious return.
Atrocious comment
We weren’t going to get anything better.
You know, maybe hiring the guy that learned from Jay Feaster and Brad Treliving wasn't the best idea. What a joke of a GM

Conroy is a joke. The way the Flames have been playing after the All-Star break we don't need to be in a rebuild but he's putting us in one.
yes we do need to be in a rebuild look at last year this yesr has only been good because we traded two players who didn't want to play lindholm and Z This team needs one are we going be like the same as last year
No we dont because with our pace we could make playoffs and go on a deep run
@herbiegallagher8182 the flames aren't even in wildcard spot they wouldn't make it far they would be first round exits
