Hey man, this is THE BEST TUTORIAL ON FACE SCULPTING. litlery helped me out a toooonn. Can you please do a another only face and head sculpt pls pls pls plsssss. You are the bestttttt!!!!!!!!!!
Haha thanks Sasson! Yeah I've recorded a few since this one already, I'll try and get another one up soon!
@@RussellMidfield LETTTTSSS GOOOO THIS HELPS MEE SOOO MUCH, because i want to be like a 3d artist in the future this little vid can hellp me get a job.
AWW YYYEEAAHH BABY! WOOO! You can do it bruh, the next Lead 3d Artist at Blizzard.
@@RussellMidfield Thx u so much for the motivation!!!!!!
Managed to fix the eyes reflections on Eevee. Under render properties make sure to have "Screen Space Reflections" and "Refraction" checked. In the Cornea material, under Settings and Space Screen Refraction, make sure to have "Refraction Depth" at 0m.
Interesting, thanks for sharing man, ss they say, the real tutorial is always in the comments haha
I Just found this myself, was going to post but figured I would check. I think they changes something in 2.91 or 2.92.
@@Jaxcesr Interesting, Blender is ever changing!
This is absolutely stunning!.. I spent days making the eye and eyelids.. Now you did in minutes! Cool
That's awesome! Haha yeah I always struggle with trying to sculpt eyelids!
Something's up, I think I've just sculpted handsome squidward
Haha lol a masterpiece!
I just found your channel, awesome content! Thanks so much!
Thanks Twin! Yeah no worries!
Hey man, i really love your teaching style and i have a request if you don't mind,
It would be great to have a mini series on sculpting a simple creatures (pokemon-like) instead of humans, cause for beginners even if we manage to get a grasp on all the tools, sculpting real human anatomy is a big challenge in itself and its always super hard to follow, i hope you'll consider this, cheers!
Thanks slipknot! Yeah I 100% totally agree with you, and it's something that has crossed my mind many times! Do a cute little character like a Fall Guy or Among Us, simpler shapes but go through the whole process like I have in my other series'. I started doing another stylized human but I think after I'm done this one I will do a cute, simple character!
@@RussellMidfield Awesome! looking forward to it
❤❤❤❤
Thanks Viraj!
This is awesome I'm really enjoying this series and its helping me a ton. Love your anatomical approach to sculpting too I feel like I'm in art school again haha.
I have a question though because this is more of a general character, what appproach would you take to creating a stylized figure like this based on existing real life photos of someone famous?
Thanks Anthony! Oh hmm, I would say try and find a clear picture and then either import it into the viewport as a reference image so you can line up key features or use a free program like Pure Ref on Overlay.
@@RussellMidfield That's great thanks. I'll give it a shot :)
I'm stuck at 20:03 with the screen space refraction enabled and it's not working. I can't see the eye, ball inside the cornea.
Found the culprit! The screen-space reflections are disabled in the render properties. Enable refraction and disable half res trace. Using blender version 2.91! You're welcome!
Awesome thanks!
good tutorial though some parts you are too fast with the shortcuts makes it hard to follow
Thanks! Aw sorry about that, I'll try and be slower next time
Please help me. When I turn the roughness down to 0. The cornea turn black.
Yes. Turn Transmission up to 1.0. Then turn on Specular Refraction.
Thanks.
Yeah no worries!
I'm following the tutorial, but the only thing that bothers me is the fact "Shift + R" appears way too big for my screen, I can barely see the numbers, so I have to figure it out by looking at the grid it shows.
Oh yeah haha, I get that sometimes too, usually if I zoom way out I can see the numbers but sometimes I just look at the grid squares too too eyeball it
@@RussellMidfield after the first part I got used to it haha. I'm fighting my way up part two now on the eyes. Thanks for the lessons!
Haha yeah, the first time it happened to me it totally threw me off. Awesome! Keep going, slow and steady wins the race!
Your channel definitely needs to be recognized more. These are good contents! Would you be interested in creating character or something inspired by video game like Dishonored, dragon quest , Bioshock and so on. These ones share stylized art style so it would be really cool to see you creating something with those in your art style!
Please Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much Tomoya! Yeah for sure, I love the stylized art style in those games! I have started on a generic male base mesh video series, which will be a little more slower paced/detailed than my previous female one, and then I am going to use that base mesh to do a new character, which will be more detailed as well, in terms of the clothing/armor/accessories, as well as for the texturing. Thanks again for always saying something nice on my videos haha! I know they aren't the best, but I'm having fun making them!
@@RussellMidfield yay awesome 👏🏼 I’m really loving detailed character creation series you have been making 👍🏼 I find it very helpful for most people.
@@tomoyaogawa4485 thanks so much! Yeah I'm going to try and make my next series even more detailed so I hope it ends up being helpful!
I may have skipped something, but are you using Eevee or Cycles? That Screen Space Refractions doesn't work for me on Eevee, not sure if it's a known thing for this render engine.
Oh really?! Hmm, I'm in eevee here, transmission is all the way to 1? Roughness to zero?
@@RussellMidfield Yeah, it wouldn't work until I changed it to Cycles. Transmission 1, roughness zero, SSR checked.
Hmm shoot sorry, maybe I'm not remembering correctly or I forgot to show a step somewhere, good you found a workaround
I face the same as you, but my solution in evee render check screen space reflection box and inside check reflactrion box too
This has been helpful but when I cornea transparent all I see is the the HDRI. How wold I remove this? I have removed the Image from the World and it has not changed.
Go to Render properties tab on the right side and under Film I believe there is a box called Transparent, try ticking that.
@@RussellMidfield I found it. In the Render tab I had to check Screen Space Reflections and Refraction. Now my eyes look correct.
Woohoo that's awesome!
problem every step, took me 2 hours to complete 2 minutes of this video. the mirroring of the eye doesnt even work for me
Darn sorry about that Kaylee, this wasn't my best work it's true.
