The heavy judge looks so well-composed and ladylike I can see why she only looked "familiar." (smile) Typically, she plays a wisecracking funnywoman. I believe she currently has a guest-starring role on Two and Half Men.
You're right ! Torvill and Dean's free program at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, performed to the music of Maurice Ravel's Boléro, became world famous. They received nine 6.0 marks for artistic impression,(three more for technical merit for a total of twelve 6.0 marks) the highest possible score and the only time ever that an all-perfect score was achieved. BRAVO !! : )
2023 now and over the years CZcams keeps chopping up the movie into bits. Only the last 3 or 4 scenes are left. Now the only way to watch the whole thing is to "rent or buy ".
Wow... this is the first time that I watch a movie without subtitle... that makes happy! :) I really liked the movie, some years ago my uncle talked about Nadia and he said that she was (is) a girl that made history in the Olimpic Games, she's (was) a gymnast and somethings like that... Today, I watched the video of PERFECT 10... and began to read her biography... and had the chance to watch this excellent movie... 1 of my favorites from now on! Thanks for uploading it! and Bela is so sexy :)
UNGUREANU was not in the team in 79 worlds, she retired after 79 university games in May, and after Karolis come back as national coaches they dind't want any gymnasts who were training in Bucharest but Nadia
Sonething I've always wondered--do you suppose that conversation really happened, where Nadia wonders out loud how it might have all been different if Karolyi had chosen Teodora instead as the one to perform in that Paris exhibition in '74?
When I watched this movie as a kid in the 80s, I used to wonder the same thing. Now I see it differently and more as what would have happened if Bela would have focussed and dedicated more time on Theodora. If the movie is accurate, Theodora was a better gymnast when she first joined. Yet throughout the movie, Bela dedicates more time working with Nadia, who becomes the star.
Actuallly she did try to commit suicide at 15. The Romanian government at that time were holding her "prisoner" and she basically had a temporary moment of "insanity". She did admit it, but not until 1990.
It was an infected wrist, she was rushed to hospital right after that and couldn't compete on vault, bars and floor, but her beam score enabled Romania to win its first World team title. She came back a year later to win the silver at the '80 Olympics
Yes she did, she had a bad infection from a cut from the metal fastener on her uneven bar grips. Although her injury was not actually squirting blood everywhere as shown here 😜 that part was just added for dramatic effect
The gymnast who plays Emilia Eberle doesn't look at all like her, apart from her competition number... they didn't bother to check a photo. Instead they chose to mock the Soviets with that blond girl clapping in disgust.
Gosh, there's so many lies in this movie...so much exaggeration...Typically american. Blah! Nadia never tried to kill herself; it's not fair to picture her like this.
@BondGirl29 @BondGirl29 She didn't try to kill herself in the movie. She mistook the cup of cleaner with the cup of juice that she got out of the hallway and set down right next to the cup of cleaner that she poured prior to going into the hallway. Typical whatever country you are from. Not paying attention to a movie, and then blaming your own ineptitude on America.
Even after all these years this part of the movie it still brings tears to my eyes
how can i not be proud of being Roumanian, Nadia Comăneci is the best gymnast of all time, and i'm not the only one saying this.
God, this movie is the ultimate guilty pleasure.... I LOVE IT!
En español

I watched this movie, YEARS AGO... and have PRAYED to see it again. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS GIFT!

LOL...this was such a cheezy movie, but yet i couldn't stop watching it...egads!!
As a Nadia fan, that girl plays Nadia looks nothing like Nadia, she looks like a beast, they need to do a new Nadia movie cuz this is ridiculous
Hahha yeah the real nadia is beautiful
@@phineasnigellus7394 yes
10.0 !!! Asymetric bars - NADIA - BEST sportswoman ever !!!
I don't remember having seen a perfect grade in any kind of sport ?!?... : )
The heavy judge looks so well-composed and ladylike I can see why she only looked "familiar." (smile) Typically, she plays a wisecracking funnywoman. I believe she currently has a guest-starring role on Two and Half Men.

RIP Conchatta Ferrell
Wow the script is better when you're a kid.
:07 I love the way the announcer says 9.25!
nadia is the best
I think it's so weird how she never talks in this movie. Lmao xD
But..she never tried to commit suicide. Ftr
She's what made Gymnastics amazing!
lolz the coach is epicss.
haha love the mad russian girl at the end. although, I am a bit embarrassed I spent so much time watching this movie. whoops!
Nadia's story was one of a kind and they could've done a wonderful movie out of it...this was good, but it could've been great. :P
Nadia is so GREAT!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
At 3:20 when Bela informs the judges that Nadia is competing, the blond judge on the right looks like she wants to jump into bed with him LOL
does anybody know the movie Reach for the sky? I`ve seen it only once when I was a kind and`ve been looking for it everywhere....
what song is that on the beam?
watching the credits......didnt realize Geza Pozar was the "gymnastics consultant"
what is the music
Wow... this is the first time that I watch a movie without subtitle... that makes happy! :)

thank you, you know what i mean, a new movie would do alot better
Nahhhn point tyew fahhhv! lol. Oops, I forgot. Don't mess with Texas. Fondly, SoCal transplant with a Washington state accent. :)
UNGUREANU was not in the team in 79 worlds, she retired after 79 university games in May, and after Karolis come back as national coaches they dind't want any gymnasts who were training in Bucharest but Nadia
Who is the Soviet blonde clapping at the end supposed to be...? Shaposhnikova? Or maybe Nelli Kim...?
Wow I used to hate this movie so much when I was a kid. My sisters would always watch it and take over the tv so I couldn't watch what I wanted.
Pleas, the name of the musical theme do you know???
Pame García As I told someone else, it fit Nadia's balance beam act so well, it got renamed "Nadia's Theme."
Jeez, did she bust an artery or something? no mere rash would gush that much blood through all that bandaging...
Sonething I've always wondered--do you suppose that conversation really happened, where Nadia wonders out loud how it might have all been different if Karolyi had chosen Teodora instead as the one to perform in that Paris exhibition in '74?

@MizJellyj
duh thats what they're implying. SHe got it mixed up
What's the music at 4:20!!!
Emma Bordeau I think if I'm right, it was called one thing, but it fit Nadia's balancing beam act so well, it got renamed "Nadia's theme"
Who is that heavy judge? She look familiar!
this movie could have been so much better...
no this movie is about little girls persuing their dream and growing up
@AngryWhiteGurl
Actually, I am Romanian, always will be one, no matter where I live.
Ok, I need to know did she really compete with that injury?
It was an infected wrist, she was rushed to hospital right after that and couldn't compete on vault, bars and floor, but her beam score enabled Romania to win its first World team title. She came back a year later to win the silver at the '80 Olympics

actually she did goggle it she confirmed it in 1990 i think and possibly did it so she could be out of the gym
@gymbrat1313101 I am. I'm level 4
I don't get it? is this base on the nadia who got a perfect ten at the age of 14(I forgot her second name)???

not true, she got 9.80
Who

Haaaa....did Nadia Comaneci need to wear the special shoes to stand on the beam ??? Catalina Ponor, the queen of balance beam, DOESN'T NEED THOSE !!
They all wear those shoes then tsk tsk!! Get ur facts straight
I think that one judge was looking at Nadia in a strange, sexual way. It was creepy....but kinda of hot too;) At rank101: soooo cheeeeezzzy!
the announcerr...haha hillbilly.
Wonder if Olga got a movie.
