Oh, I never thought for a minute that she was one to commit suicide. She wouldn't do anything that foolish. Though, I'm not exactly convinced that the people at the table were the only ones who made her upset. If you think about it, she yelled at Schpitzi, telling him to go away, she was confined to her room with no visitors, and then she saw Schpitzi from the window hanging out with Gabriella. I think that also fueled her into being upset as well.
This TV series was released in 1984 before Nadia defected to the US. The disney version was supposed to be released in 1989 but did not happen. In fact when Nadia was interviewed in 1989 issue of Life Magazine she said this movie was pure myth. Though some of the important events are factual.
Schpitzi. Nadia and Theodora met him at the dorm room party when they were both transferred (or should I say "shanghaied") from Onesti to Bucharest -- Nicholai Vieru's gymnastics school.
@sailornaru I realize it's been 2 years since you made this comment about the actress who played Nadia in this cheezy "Lifetime-esque" movie about Comaneci's life. But this actress did do other things. Her name is Johann Carlo (Yes, a boy's name) and if you look her up on Wikipedia you can see a list of her acting credentials. Nothing since 2002, it seems, but yes, she had a modest career beyond "Nadia the Movie."
Yeah, I didn't think so. She was just annoyed about being detained in her room, not being able to see anyone, and constantly being watched and hassled by the RAs... if you want to call them that.
Yeah, I'm not too sure how 'fictional' this movie was. Yes, it had 'some' bad acting; here's an odd fact, the guy who plays her dad (forgot his acting name) he played on an episode of Star Trek:Deep Space Nine as a war leader LOL, I didn't know he was so versatile. I do like the actress who played Nadia, too bad I haven't seen her in anything since this. The guy who plays Bela is a strong actor too, maybe overacts a bit, but personable and that's important.I could empathize in this part w/ Nadia
@LMA629 The bleach that period was smelling horrible. I remember as a small child I couldn't stay around it and couldn't even inhale because it was strong and irritating. ACE for instance smells like perfume compared with that one. So yes, it is hard to believe she drank it by mistake.
