      I studied in Japan for a year. Just outside the student housing area there was a tiny little restaurant; someone had simply remodeled the ground floor of a small 2-story house to a restaurant with maybe 4-5 tables. They had the most wonderful genuine japanese food I've ever tried. Working out what to order was a challenge though, as none of the elderly couple that ran the place could speak even the simplest english, but it was good practice for my japanese skills

      18? Maybe 88 years old... What i try to say js that japanese women looks much younger that they realy was. For example, 40 years old japanese woman looks younger that some 25 years old women in USA, Europe... I think food they eat is crucial for that. In Japan even "street" or "junk" food is healthy. They eat lots of seafood, not very much bread , they dont have same amount sugar in soda, chocalate ( have less sugar and other poison)...

    • @NerdKing364
      @NerdKing364 Před 4 lety +10

      I mean comparing Teppanyaki and Hibachi is pretty hard, as typically Hibachi is a "party" thing that you bring friends and family for the show, while Teppanyaki is more intimate with the person or few people that the chef is cooking for. All about a different business

    • @FFXI_Addict
      @FFXI_Addict Před 4 lety +5

      Teppanyaki came about as a way for struggling Japan to rebuild itself after WW2. American troops were fascinated by Japanese food during their military occupation, and through good old fashioned Japanese hospitality, Teppanyaki was born as a way to attract the very large US soldiers and their large appetites, and deep military wallets.
      There's no need to be flashy about it to locals, as that entire show of spatula prowess was created to attract giant US soldiers into stopping by and checking you out.

      It helps you to remember the dude and advertising is always about attention. People on markets yell about them prices and fine fruits. Whatever works. Agree, no terrible music, no intro, no obnoxious host... actually feel like you're there. Travel Channel + others of that ilk could learn from this.

    okonomiyaki or Japanese-style pizza... I love this restaurant of Tappanyaki in Hokkaido. It is food intended more for the townspeople, it is not Haute Cuisine for a gourmet palate ... It is also a more abundant and less expensive dish. I love the chef's assistant, she looks such a sweet lady. I assume that she is the wife of the chef and owners of the restaurant, Hahaha. Popeye and Olive.
    Okonomiyaki.
    Ingredients
    1 tablespoon tenkatsu
    1 tablespoon beni-shoga (red ginger)
    150 gr Cabbage
    100 gr Bacon
    70 gr Prawns
    1/4 onion
    1 egg
    1 cup okonomiyaki flour
    1/2 cup of cold water
    Japanese mayonnaise
    Okonomiyaki sauce
    Aonori (nori seaweed powder)
    Katsuoboshi (dried bonito)

    I'm impressed the cook was able to cook multiple dish using that one frying stove? Meanwhile in my country I mostly see those just used to fry burgers XD
    Also that sign in the end is cute
