ABSOLUTELY!!!! This song is a freakin' mega classic. Also, "Fox on the Run" is epic.
Original UK version please.... czcams.com/video/0l6jZire09Y/video.html
Hell yea✌😎🎶
Great song...love "Fox on the Run" as well!
Oh yeah! I forgot about that one!
JUKEBOXZERO The UK version you recommended does not show the boys. With Sweet it is best to show a live video so we can see Brian and Steve performing live. Sweet were a very visual band along with being great musicians
Such an underrated group of the 70s.
J, their "Fox On The Run" is next for you. Great guitars and vocals on this one!!
Original UK version please........ czcams.com/video/0l6jZire09Y/video.html
Great drums and bass too, that is it why it sounds so cool
Check out their excellent "Fox on the Run." A great rocker. It was their next hit in the USA after "Ballroom Blitz." Their earlier hit "Little Willy" is worth listening to as well. That's quite a sing-along tune.
Original UK version please.... czcams.com/video/0l6jZire09Y/video.html
My favorite Sweet song, but I wish you would have done the long version.
I remember this song when it came out and only knew the long version...Still my favorite song by them.
I think this vertion is ok, the long vertion is a little bit too long.
@@ivanpaezcabo6300 The long version is awesome. Love the change in tempo in the middle.
I like Fox On The Run and Little Willy, but I love and adore Love Is Like Oxygen and Ballroom Blitz.
Wait, isn't the album version longer, with a third section?
Oh no, not another one cut short!
@@kimberlinibambini1988 I HATE AM radio shortened, speed compressed mastering!!!
Right. There's two studio versions. Album and single. The album version has the long almost classical inspired break in it. The Greatest Hits CD had the short version. I had to go back and get the album to have the long version.
@@kimberlinibambini1988 The Single was a bit short and for Disco the broadcaster was shorter too.
@@debjorgo Got an Ivor Novello Award for the most original song of the year
"Blockbuster" was a number one hit for sweet in the UK
Looking forward to the day you discover Sweet's "Fox On The Run".
When this song first came out on the radio, people thought it was E.L.O. It was such a different sound from Sweet like their other songs, "Little Willy" & "Ballroom Blitz." You should check out, "Little Willy", too.
I thought the same thing!
🤘😊This song stays in my head for DAYS after I hear it now!🤣
Most defy
Definitely ^
There was so much great music back in the 70s it was unbelievable!
Every MONTH! Platinum, after platinum, after platinum albums, EACH one trying to best the last one! We'll not see that again in any lifespan.....
That is a under statement. So so much stuff and different types of music too.
If you want a longer version then listen to the album track which is much better.
As many others have said, "Fox on the Run" should be your next Sweet song. It's my favorite Sweet song.It is an even different sound than the others.More of a banger.
This was a later stage when they became more serious and wanted to be taken seriously but I`ll always remember them best for the Wig Wam Bam , Glam-Rock period when they were all fresh and new but at any stage I feel they were much better than they were given credit for.
A pop exterior but a heart of pure rock. The long version of this is epic and Andy Scott (only surviving member) has a version of the band that does a fantastic live performance of it.
You need to listen to the extended version...
Yes, with the central extended instrumental section - great stuff.
Sweet never were given the credit that they all deserved. My favorite Sweet - Little Willy!
FOX ON THE RUN, and LITTLE WILLY next!
Little Willy & Wig Wam Bam
Mick Tucker was a great drummer, live video of them show how well he played and sang back-up.
"Love is Like Oxygen" came a lot later than "Ballroom Blitz". If you want to try something else around the same time as Ballroom Blitz then try "Blockbuster" or "Hellraiser".
Oh yessssss I’m so glad you did another Sweet song. Loved seeing you groove to this one. This is such a beautiful song. Makes me feel happy and sad at the same time. The verse has a melancholy feel but the chorus is just gorgeous.
I’d love to see you do more Sweet reactions 🙏🏽🙏🏽 Their earlier stuff is so great. Ones like Wig Wam Bam, Fox on the Run, Hellraiser, Blockbuster, Teenage Rampage, Action, Six Teens, Lies In Your Eyes, but their harder rock styles are Sweet FA, No You Don’t, Set Me Free, and so much more are terrific especially if you’re liking the their drums and guitar. If u enjoyed Oxygen, ull love their others. I really encourage you to check out their Playlists from the 70s (from 1973 to 78) on their Official Sweet Channel.
By the way “are you ready Steve... uhuh” was the guy on the right with the big perm. They are all the original guys from Ballroom Blitz, and they all have incredible voices, their harmonies are their signature sound! Go for it.
Wig Wam Bam and Blockbuster for the stage performances too, love them 🥰
@@marje8249 wish more people knew how brilliant this band were.
Sweet was a trip. If you go way back to their beginning, they were pure bubblegum… and as you move on, you see them grow into a helluva glam band and change into a killer rock band.
These guys were the real deal.
Brian Connelly had one of the best voices in rock. He could let loose a fury and then turn around and sing like an angel.
👍
The Sweet was part of the hitmachine stable of Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman. For a few years in the seventies they ruled the charts with bands like The Sweet, Mud, Suzi Quatro, Smokey, Blondie and some other bands that were mostly one hit wonders.
Since the members of The Sweet preferred heavy rock really, there was always tension between them and the producers duo.
This song is from the period after they parted ways with Chinn & Chapman and was self-produced. Hence the difference in sound and style, compared with hits like "Ballroom Blitz", "Funny Funny" "Poppa Joe" and others.
If you want to hear a real 70's glam rock banger, you should lidten to Roxy Music "Virginia Plain".
Hi from the UK, I grew up listening to sweet, I do not remember this one , but they were great 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 .
One of my all time favourite song, thank you for digging it out
Just beautiful. Brian’s voice was so pure and beautiful. This song has just haunted me for decades. I just love it so much❤️ Thank you so much for this reaction, I’m enjoying it so much❤️
Great choice! Try Sweet's - Fox on the Run.
Original UK version please.... czcams.com/video/0l6jZire09Y/video.html
This is one of favorite ROCK songs!!! From back in the day...i love that synthesizer? sound ..there is an extended version where they go real soft and pretty back to the synthesizer sound..its the bomb.....this song is on my 70s playlist ❤❤🎼🎼
Grandmaster Flash & The Furious five The Message
First Rap I ever heard!!
First rap I actually memorized.
Mine was Sugarland gang Rappers Delight then Apache
Wow. This deffo brings back memories. 😳
You should check out Sugarland Gang "Rappers Delight" then Apache....you'll love it 💗💥
Only long version there is no video of it. Much better this this. Always go with the full version of every song. The best version about 7 minutes long. This is a masterpiece
Disco was a German Tv Show with International Stars. Try Alicia Bridges with I like the Nightlife. Also on Disco Show you will not get that Song out of your Head
Illia Richter... wow im old.
This is one of my ALL TIME favourites!! I LOVE the riff!! I'm glad you finally got to listen to this one.
"disco" was one of the first music-tv-Shows in Germany from 1971 until 1982. I have always seen and loved
Glad you finally got to my favourite Sweet song. Saw them at a very small coastal venue in the 80s. Didn't recognise Brian Connolly ,the lead singer , at first ,because he had changed so much due to illness, but the concert was fantastic. Try Teenage Rampage, Fox On The Run, Hell raiser or Wig Wam Bam next J
The Bass Guitarist Steve Priest sadly passed away this year on the 4th june age 72 RIP Steve !
They had 3 hits songs and all of them sound like a different band. It's crazy.
This one and Fox on the Run were my favorites
Fox on the Run, Action, Burn on the Flame live!
Great song.. Good to see ELO, the Beatles and Pink Floyd behind you too. Love your reactions.
This song is so good! Very underrated band
Bread the song Is If & Everything I Own
(If) is my favorite Bread song.
He's already done Everything I own! But I'd listen again! I'd listen to Jay read the phone book! Isn't he a sweetheart? So glad to be here with you! Have an AWESOME evening! Lotta love in this community!
He's done both songs.
They break my heart and heal it at the same time. Discovered them as a kid, listening to my older brothers vinyl. Miss those simpler times.
@@jeffreym68 I still have the 45 of If that was my Mums, she's 82 on the 15th, currently in Hospital fighting Covid xx
i love Sweet. So talented!! Thanks for the reaction, Jovaughn!! 💕
You really need to check out "Shine a Little Love" by ELO!
This track was their comeback song and unlike their big hits like Blockbuster, Action,, Teenage Rampage, Hellraiser, Sixteens, Fox on the Run which are more like Ballroom Blitz
This is my era--how did I miss this song? 🤯 Thank you!
Omg! I love this song!!! Started loving it at around 8 years old- ❤️💜✌️✨
Sweets big hts were writen for them by the hit making song writers Chin and Chapmen. Chapmen would go on to produce many hits for Blondie. They got stick for having their hits writen for them. So after years of hits in 1977 they decided to write a song on their own to show they could do it and came up with this one. Sadly this was their last hit. The singer Brian died in the mid 90's.
And I don’t know why, it reminds me of another song “Love is in the air “ by John Paul Young...
Thank You. Another great song too. Love is in the air.......
Thank heavens for Andy Scott (and Trevor Griffin). A stellar song.
I have a great suggestion! Its from 1974, The Righteous Brothers singing Rock and Roll Heaven. Its a song honoring some of the singers that had passed at the time. There are a few viewer made videos that go really well with the song. There are a few covers to this song so be sure to do the Righteous Brothers! With all the music that has been lost in 2020 I thought this was a timely video. Thanks!💕💕💕
This band went through a transition from glam rock as you say kind of into the pop scene this was a great song you must check out Fox on the run that is more in their glam days Great reaction I enjoy your show keep spreading the music to the masses Gods favor on you brother.
Reminds me my uncle (your grandfather?) i used to live with my grandparents my uncle was into this, ALL DAY! many of these singers.
Little Willy is another Sweet track that will make you ask if it's the same group, a great track and a great sing a long. Apparently a song i would sing and dance to all day long while running around the house in my nappies according to my two older sisters who where massive Sweet fans back in their hey day. In nearly fifty years not a lot has changed, i still run around the house singing and dancing in my nappies but now it's to Guns n Roses lol
Love this band! One of my favorites- which they played constantly on the radio and I dug it! This was probably 4-5 years after Ballroom Blitz. Same band members. These guys clowned always with the camera’s that I have noticed on these live TV shows. I’m afraid they didn’t last much longer after this album sadly.
You should also try The Sixteens by Sweet. Gorgeous song that’s shows off their talents to the max. They are such a fantastic band
This has a very catchy chorus and the shame is I haven't heard this in years. Ballroom Blitz is another great song of theirs (Terry reminded me of that one lol), he knew it was Sweet when he came in and heard them. God bless you all, take care and stay safe please everyone love hugs and peace my friends Mary-Ellen UK
You have thee best reaction of all the guys here on CZcams. Glad you like them. The Sweet was is and always be my favorite rock band.
Great song. Never gets old.
Ah, Sweet! Heroes of my youth! This is one of my favorite tracks of all time. Sadly, three members of the band are no longer with us - but it's great to see their music lives on. RIP Brian, Mick and Steve.
Thanks for sharing your celebration party with us! I really enjoyed it! Felt like FAMILY! Love & blessings sweet Jay!
You really need to hear the long version! This was cut for radio play, but the original long version is awesome!
Action by The Sweet, is another excellent rock song of theirs.
There's a VERY extended version of this song that you might like. It's got a lot of musical elements that weren't in this "shortened, radio friendly version". This is the version most people are familiar with, because it's obviously a one that is mostly played on the radio.
Hey if you get the chance check out the long version of this song! It's beautiful man ❤
A lot of people back then when it came out mistaken this song as ELO also their song Fox on The Run sounds like the song Do Ya which was written in 1971 by ELO front man Jeff Lynne.
Great Reaction!!!! I love this song!!! Thanks J love you ♥️
You need to listen to Love is the Answer by England Dan and John Ford Coley
and "Nights are Forever without You"-- what a love song
Those are both fantastic songs, also Let Your Love Flow. (And many others!)
Love Is The Answer is a perfect song for what is happening in the world now.
Sweet has a change of style with each hit.
"Fox on the Run" is a great song. If you want more music from the era try the Bay City Rollers "Saturday Night"
The only one still alive is Andy Scott, the guitarist, fellow guitarist Steve Priest passed away recently, while drummer Mick Tucker and the lead singer Brian Connolly passed quite a while ago, they were a Great "Glam Rock" in the Uk in the early to mid 70's, when I was a teenager, they had many great songs, check out also, "teenage Rampage" ,"Action", " Fox on the Run" " the Six Teens", "Hell Raiser", " Little Willy" ( yes, thats right ,Little Willy 😄), and Blockbuster, were among their biggest hits, keep up ths Great work ,my friend, lovin your reactions, especially to the songs from my generation 1960's to the 80's 👍👍👍
Yay! Love it!I used to play this song on my record player all of the time when I was a kid!
This man had an AMAZING voice!!!
You might want to check out the long version of this song. The instrumental break is wild.
This brings back great memories. Try Little Willy. It’s a fun song.
One of my favourite SWEET songs. Was a bit of a change from the 'norm' for them, but a lot of bands do the longer they are active.
The first time I heard this song I thought it was ELO. Still love it all these years later.
As soon as I heard you doing your Ballroom Blitz line I said "Brother this is gonna blow your mind. It's not Ballroom Blitz AT ALLLLL."
Disco was a German Cult Music Show in the 70‘ till 1982!
The Sweet is so under-appreciated.
Can’t believe your listening to this great tune, people have been guiding you into Fox on the Run, these are some serious 70’s English tunes, the best I’d say. Next 10cc The things we do for love or Dreadlock Holiday maybe xx
OMG...... Forgot about this one...... Didn't even know it was a Sweet song...... loved this. ❤️
Thanks, JayveeTV! Try "I Wanna Be With You" by the Raspberries, or go strong with Blood Sweat & Tears "You've Made Me So Very Happy".
Fox on the run , sixteens , action all superb ! 😁✌️👍🇬🇧🙏
Always loved that riff! I was maybe 10 when this came out. Loved the quirkiness of it!
Time for something else smooth and cool with added goosebumps from the king of the instrumental, STEVE VAI tender surrender (SteveVaiHimself) can't wait to see you reaction to the one. Ps. I saw sweet over here in the early 1970's when I was 11or 12. It's got to be Fox on the run. You mentioned the sweet drummer Mick tucker ,he also played the drums on the bond film. the man with the golden gun.
Definitely check out Fox on the Run and Lilttle Willy as others have suggested. Great songs. With this album they did start to change their style, and it's a great song, but not as fun as their early work.
I just found them 2 weeks ago I fell in love with them. Just the kinda glam pop rock I love. 70’s glam is sooo much more better than 80’s glam metal lol.
This song is so 70s. I still wonder why there is such a crass difference between 70s and 80s music. I think the disco refers to the German tv show where this was recorded. I remember it.
Blockbuster is one of their best Jay.
Do the longer version of this song. It is great!
SWEET is one of my favorite groups!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Blockbuster, Teenage Rampage, The Sixteens, all fabulous ⭐ oh and my absolute fave is Hellraiser live at the Rainbow, will blow your socks off ⭐
Great jam to skate to. Love it 💗. Great metaphor in this song.
I love this song. My fav song from them.
The bridging from Chinn Chapmans writing of Ballroom Blitz to their own writings is The Six Teens track.
I remember watching them in Top of the Pops. So good for dancing
I love that you did this song!
Blockbuster and Wig Wam Bam are ones they're better known for.
Yet another Scottish singer.
