He was a deep and beautiful soul that left a beautiful vibration behind when he left us in 2018. Watching you listen to MIRACLES brought a steady flow of tears to my eyes, and my heart. By the way, the "backup" singer is Grace Slick, who was the lead singer of the band Jefferson Airplane, their earlier identity in the 60's. In the 70's, they became Starship, and Marty Balin came forward and sang more of the songs. She did beautifully here, their voices really entwine, making the lovemaking theme even clearer!

The legend has it that the iconic ending when lead singer Marty Balin and the sax player are racing each other to the sun ,both giving it their all, almost didn't happen. Marty had stopped drinking. But when he did, try as he might, he could no longer hit those soaring highs. Finally in desperation, he asked for a bottle of Jack Daniel's. After finishing it off, he nailed it like never before.
The womans vocals were the great Grace Slick. her Sexuality was so strong, she control the band without even asking. Whoever was sleeping with Grace at the time got to run things.

This song had a short and long version. You heard the long version, thank goodness. I hope you know Jefferson Airplane (White Rabbit, Don't You Want Somebody to Love) was them earlier. They evolved to the Starship. Many different members. Anyway, this song, along with Andante, Andante by ABBA, is one of the most sensual songs in my life time of loving music.

I've watched several 'reaction' videos and it amazes me how many do NOT react to the lines -
"I had a taste of the real world
When I went down on you, girl"
And it amazes me how that line got past the corporate censors back in those days.

Marty Balin, the guy singing lead on this song, got knocked out by a Hell's Angel during the infamous Altamont Free Concert in 1969. Check out the film "Gimme Shelter" which documented that concert and its aftermath.

Starting with Jefferson Airplane, one of my favorite groups. Adore Gracie Slick and always thought it was so cool she was the sound of a rock group. Not many women had that power. Love your moving with the one, it has a powerful effect on the body, just can’t help moving in the groove.

Didn't start with Jefferson Airplane. This is Jefferson Starship which was formed years after the Airplane was overwith and had a different lead guitarist/songwriter and a different bass player/keyboardist/songwriter. Craig Chaquico and Pete Sears.

Backup was Grace Slick, Paul Kanter, and David Frieberg. Grace by far provided the intimate , sexiness part of the dialogue. What made this song so good or even better I should say is that , sing back at ya as if a response , versus singing harmony to a chorus. Truly an addicting song to listen to for me.
