      I have a 400 sbc bored 40 with 441 heads (76cc) currently going into my 89 Camaro. Can't wait 👍

    Nice that 383 would be perfect in something small..

    how would the 76 cc work if they had domed pistons to create the same compression , say 993 head is the question

      Using the stock cylinder head flow numbers, you can get a rough estimate of the maximum power achieved with an ideal setup. According to Motortrend ( www.motortrend.com/how-to/airflow-research-cylinder-power/ ) you multiply the head flow X 2.05712 which is(0.25714 multiplied by 8 cylinders). In a perfect setup, a Vortec head which flows 225 cfm, could make 462.8 HP. Motortrend flow tested 993 heads and the intake side flowed 151 cfm. That’s a power potential of 310.6 HP. Vortecs are good heads if they’re not cracked. Hope this helped.

    I have a sbc 406 shortblock and with 64cc heads it will ne 12.1 compression, if I use 76cc heads what do you think my compression will be?

    My 77 camaro needs a 383 lol 😂

    I have fresh machined 76cc smog heads with flat tops edelbrock performer long tube headers hei ignition 3.27 posi rear melling 223/223 450/450 cam on my 68c10 fresh rebuild less then 2000 miles . Do you think it’s worth swapping my head with a 062 vortec that means I will have to also change my intake to make it work on my gen1 block will the money spend to pretty much rebuild the top end over again or will it be not so much noticiable on a weekend cruiser I spend most my time feathering the throttle from time to time I let it rip but rarely will I be up in the rpm’s having more power is never bad though lol

      If you rarely let it rip then I’d say it wouldn’t be worth it. Nothing wrong with reworked 76cc heads, but you would definitely gain a good amount of hp with the Vortec heads.

      @@CarGuyV8 I can get the 062 heads and everything that it would need to make it work on my gen1 block for $1100 parts and labor and if I’m dropping that amount of cash I hope I can feel some difference also I hear with better compression and all mpg also improve

      @@CarGuyV8 do you think Vortec heads will perform good with my mild cam 223/223 448/448 or would that need to be upgraded as well

    • @CarGuyV8
      @CarGuyV8  Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@JaviOro1968 You would definitely notice a difference with the Vortec heads. I have a couple videos on my channel of some Vortec headed setups. A Cutlass and a Corvette if your curious what they’re like with Vortec heads.

      @@CarGuyV8 do you think running flat top pistons with vortec heads will be too much compression to run pump gas ?
