The MagnaFlow makes your truck sound like a sleeper until you get up on it. I've always liked magnaflows better
Wally Villarreal that’s what I DONT like about magnaflow is that it’s so quiet at idle, and sounds loud n tight when you floor it.
I like the deeper rumble from flowmaster, That being said we all have our own likes
Try 1 of each haha
James J. McCloud you are a legend.
@@chevycarlos3210 I do what I can haha
What I am hoping for on my exhaust system for the custom 306 build I am doing for my daily driver truck. I ended up getting the Magnaflow XL 3 Chamber 6" round muffler in 2 1/4" off set inlet/outlet. What I like is this round muffler is just like the muffler that came on my truck when new looks wise. Just waiting on Waldron to make me a OEM tail pipe in stainless to complete my sleeper look I am going with.
I hope like hell my exhaust will sound similar to how his was quiet at idle but got real aggressive at wot. I got enough vehicles I play around with that have loud exhaust I don't need it on a daily driver.
Here is the link for the mufflers in the video:
Magnaflow: amzn.to/2qy2BVd
Flowmaster: amzn.to/2Ki3nPg
I have Flowmaster on my 2007 Silverado. I prefer the Flowmasters.
The magnaflow is really badass
I love my magnaflows. I’ve the same system for over 10 years and they still sound great. I’ve also added magnaflow cats as well. My truck flows well now
UPDATE!!!
The Magnaflow has gotten significantly louder since I have installed it. Here is the link for the video showing the comparison a year after installation: czcams.com/video/ZP7d1V8IsVc/video.html
Also here is my merch.. It's still in the works so here is a 25% discount for the inconvenience!

I may go magnaflow now
Magnaflows have fiberglass packing around the straight through pipe...It's possible that some of that packing has "broken in" a little?
They both sound great, 6 of one, and a half dozen of the other.
Yeah, I have heard that allot once it has broken in it will get louder. I am sure you have heads turning going WTH is that? BOL!
Sounds good, the magnaflow is definitely better. Calm when you need it but my god comes to life at WOT.
Thank you very much for doing this comparison, it's helped me make a decision. Instead of proclaiming one better then the other , which is entirely subjective, I'll just thank you again for your time and doing this
THANT YOU -- very informative - you set the sound comparison up very well before going to the actual sound comparison. And, the information regarding you truck helped me set my little grey cells for, based on my experience, what I thought your truck would sound like with each muffler. And, yes folks - listeners can actually clearly hear the sound comparisons!!! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK - AND, THANKS FOR POSTING THIS VIDEO.
Well done thank you! Seems like at the end o of the day it’s personal preference. I thought I was flowmaster but now I’m leaning to the magna!
Magnaflow sounds more like something you’d put in a car. The Flowmaster sounds more like something you’d put in a truck with how much deeper sounded it is. Flowmaster is definitely the one I’m going with!
it depends if you remove your resonator tho
I like flowmaster, but when you accelerated with that magnaflow, it gave me chills!
Perfect comparison. Flowmasters always sound like the exhaust is going through a tin can. Loud, but tinny and metallic, and raspy at high rpms. Magnaflows are just a beautiful mean growl from down low to up high. Love a Magnaflow.
Yo Sal... well, Mister "He who doesn't READ so well", this comparison was comparing Flowmasters and Magnaflows. Nobody was even talking about Corsa you dope. In your attempt to act stupid, you proved it's not an act.
He did say flowmasters sucked lol, and the only reason I didn’t go with a corsa is because it is way too expensive. I understand that they sound good, but paying $300 just for the muffler is kind of ridiculous.
Congratulations
lol... Trolls. Can't live with 'em, can't legally shoot 'em. If you're willing to "pat" for them, that sounds like a very private, personal choice. But I'll compromise. You "pay" for them, "pat" me, and I'll "put" 'em on. That'd make us both happy, right? lol... troll.
salvatore DeAngelo lol... you're not even a good troll... but at least you put in the effort, so there is that.
I'm listening to different videos to get exhaust ideas for my 2015 Dodge Challenger RT. This video came up as a next video as CZcams just keeps playing videos. Thought I would take the time just to say your truck sounds amazing.
I like how he blurred his plate out on the acceleration part but not on the cold start videos...
6:15
What are you talking about, those were 2 different trucks 🤔🤫
@@locogtr6475 lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣true!!!!!
Lol I was gonna say the same thing
I love the resonance of flowmaster. You can hear them a quarter mile away. Sounds sweet. I always go after old school forty series.
Undecided, they both sound good. I like the deeper throaty sound of the Flowmaster and the acceleration of the Magnaflow. Qualities of a good vid. TY for the comparison.
Bonus footage is the best!
I like the Magnaflow best - most practical choice and best of both worlds
At idle with a cammed engine the Flowmasters bring out that amazing lope sound.
They can. Why I ordered a magnaflow muffler for my truck. Ive seen how they can sound. I just hope mine sounds similar to the one shown in the video but a large case round XL 3 chamber muffler I don't think would sound as loud and aggressive as the straight through design used on the truck in the video.
I just hope it does cause I want a nice sound from the cam I picked out for my build.
That American sound
That Magnaflow tho... Dam that sounds good when you get in it...
Exactly what i was looking for. Thanks
thanks for the caparison video, I have Flowmaster on my truck but I like the quieter Magnaflow on idle when leaving my hood and it opens up when I get out on the main roads.
Ahhhhhh Dam I already order the flowmaster but l like the sound of the Magnaflow.
I had a MagnaFlow dual exhaust put onto my 5.3 Silverado and I must say, I'm really impressed! I asked the exhaust guy to put in something rumbling (like a low growl when idling, until you get on it, then wow!), but not obnoxious. Well, I'm so glad he listened well, because its exactly what I was looking for. FlowMaster would have been, too much! My old 73 limited edition Esprit Firebird Formula sounds like my truck. Awesome! Now trying to find a way to eliminate the governor on my 2000 truck. Thanks for the comparison guys! 🤠
It would have been nice to have some footage from inside the cab to compare. All in all though I think I like the magnaflow. It sounds "just right".
That lope though! ❤️
I just had flowmaster super 40s dual exhaust on my new silverado. At first I didn’t like them but now they sound great. Next up..mass OS, headers and maybe a tune
Great comparison. Best sise by side I've seen ty
Thank you for the comparison. Im in the process of doing a similar setup but im going to add electric cutouts. I live in a HOA community and need a muffler that's on the quiet side for idle and low rpm driving
Sounds awesome!! Thanks for sharing the video, it's definitely help me choose the exhaust for my truck.
Keep in mind his does not have cats. I would get the 14"magnaflow if you plan on keeping them. I got that one on mine and it sounds badass.
@@Callsignwham ok cool, I'll look into that hopefully the exhaust shop open, all this staying home order drive me crazy!
@@mdsilverado1183 Yeah, it sucks for sure. You can always order the muffler and swap it yourself. It is pretty simple, I just used an exhaust sealant from an auto store and clamps. If you get a full cat-back it is a kit so it makes it easy as well.
I've had magnaflow on three of my trucks, till I found out about the flowmaster Outlaw, and I've never looked back. I put it on my 2020 chevy TrailBoss Lt
I just put a Flowmaster on my 2013 Dodge Ram with the 5.7 liter hemi and it sounds great
How’s it drive on highway? Any drone?
I say that the muffler delete clip at the end sounds the best!! 😂😂
its amazing how these LS based engines sound fairly good with no mufflers at all. i gutted the y pipe on my 2002 z71 and while i was replacing the engine i did a 228r cam. with the 110lsa cam and straight of the y pipe it sounded great but god the noise would make your ears bleed.
Man I was fixing to buy the flow master 44 but after watching this I might go magna flow for my 15 Silverado. Definitely sounds great
Is it bad I actually prefer the Flowmaster? 😂I just think it sounds more truck and less race car
Kai Chan more tin can shity you mean
Kai Chan Not bad at all. It all depends on the application and the vehicle that they're being put on. I like both, but I prefer flowmaster also.
Flowmaster sounds better to me.
mark you must be over 50 years old than lol
I honestly would have considered changing the single Flowmaster to full dual muffler setup using 44's and H-pipe. With that cam, no need to really keep single exhaust
Just put the magnaflow 11226 on my 99 Tahoe xpipe true duals. This video really made me a believer!
Man you made me into a believer again I will post on my channel 👍🏾
this is the comparison ur here for:
Pulls
3:57 Flowmaster
4:17 Magnaflow
Thanks:)
Both sound great!!Magnaflow and Flowmasters.
I got same truck but thinking bout going with flow masters... good video 👍🏼
Love the idle of the flowmaster but love the magnaow at open throttle cause it sounds more like a car with open headers (which I love)
That bonus footage at the end sounds just like mine when it use to have the carven r muffler
Sweet!! What tune did you use for the y pipe setup? And does the exhaust smell get into the truck?
Super excited now! Just bought me a cat back magnaflow setup for my magnum rt...sounds way better than flowmasters to me.
Thanks for the sound comparison I'm going to the magnaflow too the flowmaster is waking my neighbor up and I'm getting looks I have a 2011 RAM 1500 R/T with 400 rwhp
Run either of these put from under the truck with a finished exhaust and it will sound alot better.
Magnaflow sounds good though.
I used to be solely flowmaster, but since I tried a magnaflow, I never went back...
I have a mild 5.3 shorty headers 3" single super 10 stock exit 4" tip. I'm always nervous of getting pulled over can't even take off fast sounds good but I just ordered a magnaflow to quiet it down.
Your video helped me make my decision, MagnaFlow it is. Great video, thank you!
Thank you for the video....helped me big time with my RT....sound choice.....go texes.....from indiana
They both sound good, it's just the flow masters are louder at idle and magnaflows are louder at WOT. I guess it depends on your preferences.
My god the Magna sounded beast!
Just got a Magnaflow cut into my 2009 Chevy Silverado 2500hd 6.0l and I love it. I've had Flowmaster in the past but i love the Magnaflow better.
I went with Gibson as a try with my 5.3 16 gmc. Cai, did a tune myself. Imo sounds really good. 0 tin can bs, no rasp and the drone is not bad at all.
Magnaflow for sure... Thanks for the post... I have second body 07 z71 vortec max and been lookin to tweek exhaust sound but keep O. E. general design... Now i know what im doing
What kind of wheels are these. And do you have spacers? What size tires? And which levelling kit do you have on this truck. Love the look of it
Magnaflow sounds awesome but I’m thinking race car without looking. Flow master just nasty more truck sounding. Great video
I recently had dual magnaflo installed on my 2006 Volkswagen Touareg 4x4 ,4.2 v8 have owned it for 4 years wish it was the first modification. Better sound, acceleration, and fuel numbers i never thought possible.
What mods did you do to it other than the mangaflow muffler?
I got the same truck same year same setup Flowmaster 10 series sounds incredible
Thanks for this comparison. When I go to the Magnaflow website, the 3 options for my 99 f250 Super Duty are the Ford D-Fit Muffler and Exhaust, the Exhaust without Muffler and a few custom builder pipe kits. Are any of these Magnaflows the one in this video?
I just changed my flowmaster muffler to magnaflow, in hopes I made a good choice👀this video definitely helped
I have ran both and currently have a 24" magnaflow on my 13' ram sport. Flowmasters sound way better on the bottom end but open it all the way up and magnaflow sound a touch better on the top end in my opinion .
Did you just get the magnaflow exhaust or did u also add the exhaust band clamp?
Flowmaster sounds better, but I can imagine magnaflow are more pleasant to live with on a day to day basis
I know all of these muffler comparisons are relative. I mean...there's no real way to compare it to what your own set up is gonna sound like even with the exact same muffler. There's just so many variables that affect the sound, tone, drone, ect. But every time I get ready to make a change to an exhaust or get a new muffler I go through all of these vids before I decide on what I'm going to run. Usually my mind is pretty set on a particular thing. I think I'm mostly looking for confirmation of my own decision. LOL ( been leaning towards a Magnaflow anyway) And this is one of the better comparisons out there. thanks man.
That magnaflow sounds awesome. I had a magnaflow on my old 1996 Nissan 240sx . It was my favorite exaust sound, throaty and not the tin can Honda sound, I miss that car. But it also had bigger pipe from cat back, not sure the size because it came on the car when I bought it. But hands down my favorite exaust sound for sure
Magnaflow sounds good
Still pretty load I used to love my trucks to have that growl and be nice and load. The older I got the more I just like a quite truck.
2 years later I'm betting the MagnaFlow got louder at idle, right? That's the biggest issue I've had - after a little time I get a different sound than what I wanted and had originally.
The scavenging effect from that cam sounds really good💪🇺🇲
Magnaflow has the truck sounding like a muscle car 🔥🔥🔥
Trey Praduktionz yeah that’s what I was thinking really strange
2 of the 4 Wranglers that I've owned had FM, but am running SLP loudmouth cat-backs on my challenger srt8 and is menacing as hell
Idle = flowmaster wide open throttle = maganflow
zombieqtr flowmaster is both
The Flowmaster sounds better at idle until the cylinder deactivation kicks in then it sounds like someone farting in a tin can.
@@1Korse turn off dod or AFM, whichever term you prefer. People say that drone is unbearable in 4 cylinder mode, I'm telling you right now... if you think its loud with a muffler or cat back, you have no idea what loud or drone is.
@@kriptic22 who the heck doesnt like the sound in their vehicle shouldn't have put in an exhaust
@@american_chevy616no doubt bud.
Really wanted true duel catback straight pipe, and eventually add chrome tips and magnaflow on each side, but realistically I’m just gonna cut out the resonator and muffler, and replace it with one magnaflow
I literally have basically this identical truck. 2013 Sierra 1500 6.2L but it’s an RMT so got the RMT stickers and lift but I wanna throw the magnaflow under it and hopefully get a stage 2 cam
I like the magnaflow better. How does it sound in the cab? Loud or drowny? Awesome video.
I had a full catback magnaflow system on my 03 ram it sounded like a monster truck under heavy acceleration
Man Magnaflow is my favorite muffler brand love the growl you get out of them is sound like pure evil I own a 98 Ford Explorer 302 Windsor and with duel magnaflows 3inch dump tip and I gotten a lot of compliments even say it sounds like a growl
People buy differences. One of the differences people consider when choosing a muffler/exhaust systems is the end result sound. Many different factors can affect the sound; and here are just a few of said factors: : 1) manufacture exhaust manifolds or headers (including brand, style and length can make a difference in the sound, 2) no cats or cats and brand and flow rate of cats, 3) the metal or the pipes (standard, aluminum, or stainless steel), 4) pipe diameter size, 5) the exhaust pipe style - separate -true duals all the way back vs. other configurations (single in dual out, "x" or "Y" or "H" pipes and etc.), 5) the muffler(s) brand, type, model, and the muffler "in" and "out" tube placement (center in and out, center in and off-set out, both in and out off-set, and etc. -- most folks don't realize that the muffler in and out pipe positions has an effect on the sound produced). 6) the the engine (make; chevy - ford - dodge or other. -- how many cylinders, exhaust gas flow rate, and HP; and, even the type of cam), and 7) the metal used to make the muffler - standard, aluminum, stainless steel). Each of the aforementioned are just some of the factors that can make a difference in the sound produced. Also, regarding interior noise: Interior noise level is the result of an accumulation of exterior sounds including muffler sound, A well-insulated interior cabin will reduce exterior sounds including muffler sound; however, unless you are completely rebuilding or restoring the vehicle - two processes which allow access to better insulate the interior cabin, you can ignore exterior sounds other than those produced by muffler(s). Another factor involved in sound production is the equipment used to do the recording. Different types of recording equipment and microphones used can also produce different sound results - mainly the quality of the sound and the metering of the sound balance - assuming said equipment has such capability. Hopefully, the above information will help some folks understand how hard it is to get the exact SOUND they want from the muffler(s) they install on their vehicles. This video, in my opinion, gives a great sound comparison of the exterior muffler sounds of the the two mufflers compared. Thanks JV Garage.
Your video gives a good comparison of the two mufflers you compared - a flowmaster super 44 and a magnaflow (model - unknown -- adding the magnaflow model number and the magnaflow in and out pipe positioning may be helpful for those who are considering the magnaflow muffler you installed). However; job well done!!!
NOT WITHSTANDING ALL THE ABOVE; in my opinion, you did an excellent job of comparing the differences in the sounds of the two mufflers. Thank you for your time, expense and efforts in producing this video for people like myself to use use in considering the two different brands of mufflers I am currently considering for installation in my vehicle.
I really like the magnaflow much better!
Looking on changing the mufflers on a 2018 Durango with a 5.7! I want to hear the exhaust! Had flow master on my 2015 Dodge 1500 and now not sure what to put on this one!
Controlled and deep on the low end and much better sounding and louder when you put your foot into it. Sounds badass man!
What series magnaflow is this and does it overwhelm the inside I like to jam my music or be able to talk without the exhaust drowning us out what do you recommend
I see that this specific muffler is a single out right? Where did you end up putting your exhaust pipe from muffler back? What are your thoughts on single versus dual out?
Damm I think I’m digging the flowmaster now !
Love both sounds...where in texas do you live that you got that much snow?
The snow was rare, the last time it snowed before this past year was back in 2004. I live in south Texas so it sure was weird seeing snow down here.
Hey JV Garage. Did you do your own cam swap? If so I was just wondering if you could give me some ideas of what cams to look at. I've got a 2010 gmc 2500hd with a 6.0l 364ci v8.
Ok so I put a flow master super 44 on my 1994 4.0 L Jeep Cherokee and it sounds pretty damn mean and loud, I absolutely love the idle and the fact that there’s little drone at highway speeds but i still get plenty of growl when i step on it. As a side not I also get exhaust pop on occasion when I’m down in low gear at the higher rpms. Not sure if anyone else has encountered this
What kind of cam do you have? Can you provide the link. I have a 2011 Silverado 4.8 definitely want to add a cam.
If I do true dual MagnaFlow without cat delete it should sound something like this right I'm no expert on exhaust systems but I want mine to sound something like this but want true dual
That magna flow sounds badass
That magnaflow 😂😂😂 love it great comparison video
Would you mind sharing the specs of the cam and is it VVT?
Nice chop
I live in California
Redtape is heavy here ...
Sucks.
Awesome work
Sounds great
Nice truck bro I have a 2012 Silverado with a flowmaster super 10 with 3 inch dual turn downs and it's more deeper than louder compared to ur truck. Also have a cold air intake on mine but by far yours sounds amazing
Do you have any videos on it I wanna get that done to my 09 gmc
In TX, what percentage tinting is legal in font-side Windows?
I deleted my MagnaFlow on my Silverado as well as I did on my girl's Hemi did Dodge sound sick I personally like the Flowmaster on my Silverado I'm probably going to put it back on cuz I noticed when I didn't delete like you did towards the end of your video you definitely burn more gas bro
I have a MagnaFlow muffler on my 2017 Kia Sorento V6. there are 2 mufflers. one in the center of the car, and one in the back. I replaced the one in the center with the Magnaflow, and deleted the one on the back. I love seeing people faces when I start my car or take off. They are like WTF u got in there? LOL
