There's not a lot CPS can do. Because it's probably a religious organization. And what religions can get away with in the United States is beyond shocking. Just look up the gothard method for raising children. It's terrifying. And CPS cannot do anything when it is going on in a household because it's a religious principle. They will literally whip infants with stretched out glue sticks. Honestly call CPS so at least there's a file open. But little to nothing will be done. It's terrifying what religions get away with.

@@augustaseptemberova5664 I'm very confused by people's reactions to this. Is it just that people are assuming she's not being honest about shared interests? Cause taken at face value, it seems like almost all of what she did was engineer time they would be together and gather info about him. I suppose maybe the second could be creepy, except she did it through talking with his family rather than spying on him directly. Maybe I'm missing something but I think everyone's overreacting to this.

The second story was very disturbing and terrifying for the husband but what makes it more creeoy is the fact that OP's last statement was about "finding a new husband". I mean you found out that your husband is divorcing you because of your crazy stalker stunts and your first reaction is blaming HIM and thinking about A NEW HUSBAND?? She might not need a psych ward. She does have some signs of psychopathy (extremely calculative behaviour and signs of weak empathy) and I think working with a professional would do her good. She doesn't really seem to be at high risk to cause harm other than emotional/social harm. If she got some help with social skills and well, not empathy as she doesn't seem to have a good capasity for it, but a model to help her figure out reasonings behind others' behaviour.🤔

If a group or community tells you to cut yourself away from family, friends, certain technological devices, books, any form of academics, or even society as a whole, it's a cult. The whole reason for telling you to stay away from something is to prevent you from being informed of the wrongdoings of the cult. It's also to deter you from escaping or being rescued.
If you realize what's going on and leave, you'll have nowhere to go since you don't have anyone else outside of the cult. You either have to go back to them or end up moneyless/homeless. If you can get some form of help, you'll have to start over from scratch.

And unfortunately CPS has their hands tied when it comes to anything. That's a religious organization. Just look at the gothard method for raising children. They literally will encourage you to stretch out glue sticks and whip infants with it . Method is used exclusively by evangelicals. Not saying all evangelicals. I'm just saying if they use it their evangelical. Because it has such religious connotations CPS has its hands tied because of " religious freedoms". And don't worry, the Republican party who's here to protect the children. Will make sure that priests are never made as mandated reporters. Considering they've stopped it in about every state and on a federal level.

Cults often isolate from the rest of the world. YA author Fleur Beale wrote a trilogy of books called "I Am Not Esther", "I Am Rebecca" and "Being Magdelene" with a view of a fictional Christian cult with one family through the eyes of a cousin whose mother defected and then sent her daughter to live with her brother, one of the elder daughters, and the second-youngest daughter, all of who eventually get out. The cousin helps the eldest when he is expelled from the cult, the elder daughter runs away when they try to force her to marry the seventy-six-year-old leader of the cult when she's only sixteen, and the second-youngest and youngest run away together out of fear for their own safety due to the leader's increasingly unhinged behaviour. It is pointed out that there is good stuff in the cult - one woman states her parents haven't left because they remember how people used to love and support each other and people could leave if they wanted to, without being cut off (in most cases, people who leave or are cast out are considered dead). But the cult is also shown to be dangerous and intolerant. They keep the children so ignorant of everything. The fourteen-year-olds don't know anything about periods, even though they should have got them by now.

Second story: i don't think OP did anything majorly wrong at the beginning of this whole story. She was fourteen, saw this guy, got a crush for him and became kind of obsessed with him. We all did stupid things as teenagers because of a crush, including searching all of their social media, trying to get close to them in all the possible (and often awkward) ways, become detectives to find what they like and dislike, etc.
The thing that feels weird is that this obsessive crush never stopped and instead kept going for years, to the point where it feels like OP never truly loved her husband but just stayed fixated on him. If i were him i would ask for a divorce and possibly a restraining order.

right ??? like, if I REALLY stretch to give the benefit of the doubt here, I can see a teenager obsessed to the point of making a little ‘plan’ to try and win over a boy. but then, why would you feel the need to intentionally ‘stay’ friends with the younger brother? how did it just never become a true friendship? if she cared about the mom, why only refer to her as a source of intel? if she ACTUALLY loved this dude, why would it even occur to you to say any of this - unless there’s no care here at all, and you just consider this some kind of weird achievement and this guy a shiny prize that you obtained ??
update: OP needs to get help fr. she had no remorse about what she did even seeing his reaction, even then her thought was ‘I did all this work for this?’ OP for sure did not love her husband, I might even go so far as to say that I don’t think she can care for others at all.

Story One: The difference between spirituality/religious belief and a cult is always about choice. I am not an expert, but many religions and spiritual practices promote freedom of choice and self-actualization. You take on practices because it's what you WANT to do in order to be a better person, you teach others about such practices by modeling them as an example and if others CHOOSE to be part of that, then they are welcome to do so. You never force anyone into believing your ideology, never shame them, never threaten, and never force them to stay. My mom and grandparents have always had firm Christian beliefs, but never once tried to force me to believe, they let me ask questions, and let me disagree with them. I've found great spirituality in Buddhism, and it has made me so happy, but I arrived there on my own, not by being isolated or indoctrinated.
Story Two: Female Joe Goldberg! I was questioning why she suddenly felt the need to admit to her husband why she stalked and manipulated her way into being his wife, like what changed to make her feel guilty? Then she admits that she doesn't feel bad about what she did, just that she was trying to save face from him potentially finding out on his own. She is either a psychopath, a narcissist, or just straight up delusional, but I'm glad her husband ran!

No lawyer anywhere would have represented the mother unless she radically misrepresented the facts to them. But do keep in mind that in LegalAdvice, you only get one side of the story. There could be more, and any responses have to be made in consideration of that fact. The actual lawyers there don't really respond with much advice at all, but they do ask a lot of questions. That's where they're helpful.
OP did screw up. They should have called the police the first time it happened. Even if no charges were brought, that documentation is worth its weight in gold. Livestock, including horses are a major liability, so you want to do everything by the book. I'm sure their insurance rates are astronomical now.
The only advice they could offer legitimately is:
      • Make sure the property is clearly posted, as per state law.
      • Make sure there is an adequate fence in good repair separating the livestock from people.
      • Install cameras
      • Report ALL incidents of trespassing to police.
      • Make sure veterinary medications are secure under lock and key. Lots of junkies trespass because those meds can get you high, are poorly regulated, and often stored insecurely in outbuildings.
      • If served with any type of lawsuit, seek a lawyer immediately and always respond in a timely fashion. Never miss a court date or filing date.
      • If any incident occurs, report it to your insurance immediately, even if no claims are filed. Let them hear from you first.

The only smart thing OP did in the second story was tell her soon to be ex that she's pretty crazy. Imagine setting up a huge plan to make someone fall in love with you. That's some pretty scary stuff right there. Though I wonder how she found out? Did he say something to her after he told the story or was it one of the family members? And this was after monitoring all of his social media profiles, befriending his brother and mother to get to him, and coincidentally playing a sport that he spent a lot of time volunteer coaching. Connect to a plane that’s 1000 years back, or he’ll just completely different, normal society is gonna seam like the biggest sin of them all. I really hope the siblings are okay. I don’t think they’ll be hurt, but k know they are living a life they shouldn’t

Helping others to get an education, to achieve multiple degree’s, and also to have a very active, physical build. That’s it! I have 8 gods and only one is insane. Story #2... It's insane how stalkers don't see themselves as stalkers. It couldn't be more obvious, but they have a blind spot, like if they want it enough then that makes their actions OK. Reverse the genders here and tell me how "cute" it is.
She met him one time, and immediately decided she needs him? What the Fuck?
She used her brother to find out where he lived.
She forged a friendship under false pretenses with his brother to infiltrate the family.
She leveraged that friendship to gain access to his mother, who she pumped for more information.
She chose a sport in High School to get closer to him.
She stalked his social media for years.
She moved to a different State to be closer to him.
She went out of her way to change her appearance and dress to appeal to him.
She married him while still keeping her past actions a secret.
This is not a schoolgirl with a crush, this is a sociopath in need of long-term psychiatric care and a lot of meds and a court-ordered ankle-bracelet and restraining order.
I will go a little easy on her, this started when she was 14-years-old. Thinking back to Highschool, I know a 14-year-old girl with a crush can get pretty intense, lol. I had a couple of them in my vicinity when I was that age, albeit not nearly to this extent. The worst I had was a girl who changed all her classes to be in the same class as me most of the day, which was creepy, and she never deceived me, her intentions were very clear, lol... but it was not even remotely this. This is someone who never matured intellectually or emotionally beyond the age of 10 or 11, and what she was doing worked for her, so she never questioned it. She's not "evil", but she is mentally ill.
The shocking part is that she's angry that he's upset by this. She thinks she's entitled to act this way because SHE is happy with the results. The ends for her (and only her) justify the means. And now she's ready for her "next husband". This woman is completely unhinged.
But the saddest part is she never loved him. Not in the way you or I, or any rational person understand the word. She never cared about how her deception would impact him, and only considered telling him to get ahead of him likely finding out anyway. Her confession was just part of a plan to preemptively mitigate any damage to her, but she didn't care what it meant for him or his family.
How is this guy supposed to recover from this? He's lived a lie for 7 years, unwittingly being used. How do you trust people after something like that? That mistrust is going to follow him into his future relationships. It's not one of those things you know you'll be able to laugh about someday, this can fuck a person up badly, and forever hinder their ability to be happy with anyone. And that doesn't even cross her mind here. She just gaslights him because "He doesn't appreciate honesty, he must not have meant it when he took his wedding vows". She puts the blame on him.
I'll be blunt, this is on par with rape. She may not have physically restrained him to have her way. She manipulated and choreographed his entire reality for a decade to satisfy her wants. Some rapists use force, some leverage authority, she turned it into a decades long theatrical production, with lots of reconnaissance and weaponizing his family against him and each other to undermine his free will. Different tactic, but the same crime. And because she was covert about it, I'm sure many will say it doesn't count (the law included, sadly). So she gets away with it, and many won't even take the guy seriously because of the tactics she used.
Sociopathy isn't a "diagnosis" in the DSM-V, but it's approximate, "Anti-social Personality Disorder" is a classification generally characterized by the following constellation of traits:
    • Failure to conform to social norms.
Check - This bitch is weird alright.
    • Deceitfulness.
Check - Her whole life for a decade including her best-friend and her marriage was one giant lie.
    • Impulsivity and poor planning.
Maybe - There was a lot of planning here, but not good planning if her stalker notes were on a phone in his possession, and she's openly posting about it on the Internet, lol. While there may have been a overall plan, the details all seem pretty reactionary to me. A lot of improvisation.
    • Irritability and aggression
Unknown - We'd have to ask her ex-husband. There's no evidence of that in her story, but we only heard one side, and she would know enough to not admit to that, or would likely have rationalized it away as irrelevant. Possible, but uncertain.
    • Lack of regard for others
Check - How many people did she use in pursuit of this objective? How many false friendships were forged and leveraged disingenuously? Did she ever consider the impact it would have on her husband or his family?
    • Irresponsibility and lack of accountability.
    Check and Check
    • Lack of remorse
Check - At the end of her marriage, her only concern is for herself. No remorse for the destruction she's caused to numerous people's lives. She ends it with a reference to her "Next Husband" and a "LOL". Real remorseful.
This bitch is certifiable. She has 5 out of 7 for sure, more than enough, and the other two can't be discounted with the information provided. And these traits span a decade of time. All people exhibit these traits at times, but they are incidental and narrow in scope with most people. These traits are a way of life for her.
I am NOT a psychiatrist, this is NOT a diagnosis. I'm just pointing out that her story is basically a textbook example of many of these traits.

It’s the fact that she continued the friendship while really only caring about having a relationship with the brother.

@@briannad9155 - Okay, fine. It’s still scummy, but teenagers are generally rather callous and inexperienced with social stuff, so I understand giving that a pass.

Befrending the sibling of your crush is 14yo logic. I don't nesserly mind that that though it is wrong and her adult self should recognise it as such... Everything else tho, holy shit lady, men have gone to jail for less.

Second story: Am I the only one weirded out by the fact that he had her old phone, though? Unless she's jumping to conclusions that he looked through it, and it just happened to still be there.
Either way, don't blame OP's husband for leaving how he did.

That second story is crazy, but not sure I entirely believe it. I mean, the husband knew her brother well enough from high school, that he walks him home from the park after they are in college, but doesn't recognize that they are family when he shows up at their wedding? I could see not remembering much about her, but he would definitely know that he's knows the guy, and it's entirely likely that he'd met his sister before.

I really don't like the sentence "infected the woumb" from the first story, it makes it really sounds like they were expecting OP's sister to marry a man in the compound and have his babies

I think the mom meant OP infected *her* womb so that his younger sister turned out like him and didn’t want to join this cult. Not that I think you’re wrong about the expectation for OP’s sister. Glad she got away, too.

that stalker 2nd story is odd. why does she keep referring to him as her 'current' husband? it implies he was either not the first, or she plans on having others? and this was before the update before she even told him...

Did you not see the end of her post? "I might update this post when I find a new husband." It was never about love. It was about possessing that which she was obsessed with. Now that the obsession is over, she's ready to move on to the new obsession. After all, the quest to obtain what we desire is usually much more fun than actually possessing it. He was a trophy husband, now she wants more trophies.

Yeah, you’re right, the use of the “current” qualifier even in the initial post is very weird. It’s worse than we think, maybe.

S1) OP's so lucky he got out of there safely. His mom sounds certified. She needs time in the hug myself coat and the pillow room.
S2) She stalked the guy for literal years, used his family to get closer to the guy and then acts all butt hurt he feels unsafe with her lunacy. For the sake of humanity the OP stays single cause no one deserves this level of creepiness. Also this OP deserved the Karen voice R/slash. She saw this guy as an item to obtain not a human freaking being. Anyone who can agree with what she did needs to stay single cause they're screaming in red flag to be avoided at all cost.
S3) If she knows there's a no trespassing sign and lets her kid do this she's just looking to sue for the money. In all intent purposes CPS needs to get involved too so she can be charged with willful neglegence of a minor. Bring in the outer fence a bit then add in barbed wire.
