Savage Jack I agree that ttyd is overrated, it’s still a a great game tho, but sticker star is hated because of its gameplay, story, and removes everything that the previous 12 years did for the Paper Mario series that made them classics

Partners in Time and Inside Story are tied as my favorite Mario RPGs, maybe even my favorite games ever. Partners has an insanely satisfying combat system (if you use badges and gear the right way enemies are jokes. I don't see the criticism on enemy health pools.) and the way they made the babies act like extensions of the Bros. abilities in combat felt really smart and simple despite being four entire characters. The item-based special attack system made sense because having 2 groups of characters that split apart often have separate BP meters would be pretty dumb and would reward players too much for only using basic attacks. The story and atmosphere is also amazing, every area feels like its own little story and nothing overstays its welcome in the plot.

The ratio of PM64 sales to N64 sales is equal to SPM to the Wii (4.16%) but PM64 had a better reception. TTYD to GameCube sales is higher (8.79%) and had an even better reception. Unless u want to rely on raw sales totals and believe “Afro Samurai” is more popular than “Earthbound”, then SPM is third

I played Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam all the way through twice. It was my first RPG. I loved the music, but it isn’t as good as I remember it being. It certainly made me love all the newer games more.

Super Mario RPG #1, easy. Maybe I'm too old compared to the creators, but in it's day it was the BEST RPG I'd played.
To be honest I think I hate Super mario RPG is because of its poop graphics. For me when I can clearly see the pixels I usually immediatelly hate the game, what’s wrong with me lol

I really think everyone is under rating super mario rpg. All of the things game domain praised paper mario for were pretty much borrowed from super mario rpg. Super mario rpg gave these games the 2 things that make them unique: the action command battle system, and the humorous writing. Not to mention the seven star storyline which was adopted by the next two games.
PS. I wouldn't even include super paper mario on this list.....its not an rpg haha.

And I thought it was my bad gmaeplay, regarding the HP of regular enemies in M&LPit to high. I avoided the fight sdue to their high Health and ended up tormenting myself once with at the end with an even more overpowered Boss. But it was fun. This might have even added the serious tone in the Game. The Shroobs have been scary when I was younger. Making them such strong opponents, helped buying them as a real threat to the World.

RPG > PM > SSS > BiS > SPM > TTYD > CS > SS. Origami King probably be between TTYD and CS. I have soft spot for CS but at it's best it is like a Disney sequel, fine, harmless but unambitious.

Dream team only having overbearing tutorials in the beginning of the game? The game had intrusive tutorials right until the very last dungeon in my experience.

I hope this video gets more popular and Nintendo gets it known. You have valid points f criticism, and a acceptable ranking (although I do not agree with all), which shows the flaws in many new Mario RPGs.

I’m not going to lie as a kid I raged quit at this part of the game. I actually ended up thinking the game was bad and the series was bad afterwards. (I was a young kid)
Many years later I honestly think the Mario RPGs are the best Mario games there is. It really sucks now that Alpha Dream is gone now.
I should revisit Bowser’s Inside Story soon but I need to find where my cart went. I have the box as well as the manual, but I don’t know where the game cart is now.
Update: I found out where it is my sister has it and she wanted to keep it until she beats the game, which I’ll let her keep it for that long. At least know where it is now!

They said Sticker Star and Paper Jam's chapters followed the New Super Mario Bros world themes, and you said it wasn't out then. NSMB DS came out in 2006, Sticker Star came out in 2012, and Paper Jam came out in (I think) 2016

I sadly haven't played the majority of it, but here we go.
Number 5: Paper jam bros. It's not bad, in fact I have fun with the game, but it's a bit too generic and the paper craft battles aren't that good compared to the previous two games. The soundtrack was decent and had some great bosses.
Number 4: partners in time. I like the game, but never finished the game due to me getting stuck and having the tendency to quit games once my patience is gone. It has a great story and is quite dark, like turning toads I to fuel and that giant shroob yoshi. That yoshi is just scary when I was younger. The bosses were good, but to me don't stand out too much. The music is the best thing of this game, with the boss theme being one of my favorites and the final boss theme being the second best in the series. The biggest problems are that you need to grind a lot, some enemies have too much hp and the bros. attacks are reliant on items, making it uncertain how many you exactly need.
Number 3: Paper mario sticker star. I know what your thinking. This game sucks right? Well to be fair it has some glaring downsides, like the areas aren't that unique, the plot is the old 'The princess is kidnapped. Go save her' kind of plot, the overabundance of toads, the battles aren't really rewarding and the worst thing about the game is the damn backtracking. Normally I can let it slide, but in this game you have to go to places multiple times to progress. Now that the bad things are out of the way, let's talk about the positives. The game being made by paper and cardboard, is quite creative, sometimes a bit too creative. The way of battles is with stickers. You can also use things to solve some puzzles and you can turn them into stickers to wreak havoc on the battlefield or expose weaknesses on the bosses. It's satisfying to solve them yourself, but without a guide, it can get frustrating and time consuming,but is usually worth it. The best thing is the soundtrack, which has some good themes, like the title theme, world 6 and the boss themes. Imo it's an decent game at best imo, but it's flaws hold it back from being high on here.
Number 2: Dream team bros. This game is a great game. The locations are good, Antasma is a great and interesting character who wants power and tried to put the world in eternal slumber and the battle mechanics are just great. The dream battles are really fun and the giant bosses are just epic and gives luigi the love he deserves. The story is good and has some memorable characters. Starlow is just precious and is my favorite m & l companion. Antasma is a great villain and had some of the best boss battles in the game. And about the bosses, they are great, like Antasma as I mentioned, the guardian of the somnom woods temple and kamek. Dream team has some of the best soundtracks I've heard in the series. The boss battle theme, dreamy somnom labyrinth and did I mention final antasma and adventure's end. The thing I don't like is the incredibly long tutorial. Other than that it's a great game with some creative mechanics.
Number 1:Bowser's inside story. I know it's obvious, but can you blame me? This is the pinnacle of Mario rpg and is easily of my favorite and most nostalgic games of all time. I grew up with this game and exposed me to the great series that is mario and luigi. The locations are memorable, having good places like the forest, bowser's castle and peach's castle. The characters are the best in game and has arguably the best villain in any mario game. Fawful is my favorite Mario character, aside of bowser. He was an entertaining character who made me laugh at times, but is quite competitive in this game. He first worked with cackletta in superstar saga, then after he got defeated and somehow survived the fall from bowser's castle, he is plotting a scheme and now he is independent and became the main villain of this game. He evolved from an minion to villain and became a great villain who nearly succeeded with it's plan. He turned toads into blorbs, took over both bowser's and peach's castle and was able to awaken the dark star, one of the most powerful entities in the mario and luigi games. The story is incredible, having the blorb incident at hand and fawful's return and forcing bowser to team up with mario and luigi. The gameplay is very well done, with mario and luigi controlling well and having to play as bowser is an great idea and made bowser a badass. Bowser's inside story has the best bosses in all of mario rpg's (at least from what I've played) Some of the bosses that are great are the midbus fights, the fawful express, dark fawful and my favorite Mario boss ever, dark bowser. The giant bosses are also really fun and satisfying. The soundtrack is one of Shimomura ''s best works. Some of these good songs are tough guy alert, toad town , deep castle, the credits theme and in the final. The only issue I can say is that the fire breath in the giant battle is just bad. Luckily it's fixed in the remake. This is my list. Sorry for the long comment, but I just want to explain why I like and dislike certain aspects of the game. I grew up with these games and none of them are bad. It's just some games are better than others.

@@Christmas-Jacket unfortunately I don't have the equipment and time to make video's. Since I made this comment on my phone, it's not possible to make video's there. The only way I can express my opinion is by commenting. I know it's a lot of reading, but it's necessary in order for others to understand my reasoning of why I like the games. I can't say I like something without giving a reason. I do understand that it's a lot to take in. I hope you understand why I did it this way.
Zero The Aura duelist you can get a pitch black picture and then you can use markup to write text, and it’s easy to do. Look at my youtube channel and I made those vids with the photos app. Though I only know that you can do that on iphone I don’t know how with android since I don’t have android, that might be able to deal with the equipment part until you want to get better gear, though time is of the essence so really the only thing you could do is to work on vids in your free time, I’m saying 1-2 hours is enough, maybe a bit too long but you get the picture.
@@Christmas-Jacket That shall be a little difficult. I use android, so that is one thing to deal with. And considering I have my final exams this year despite Covid-19 taking away 3 months of school, it would make it challenging. 1. BIS (I LOVE THIS GAME, everyone is rememberable, the adventure aspect will never be beaten, and DAMN, that soundtrack is just so... great! also, you think the carrot was hard? first 5 tries. meanwhile, i hated the pollen minigame! haha, fools...)
I remember I got stuck for months on the carrot part purely because I didn't realize you were supposed to tap on the pieces that fell down at the same time that the sound played. Great game overall, 11/10.

Everyone complains about the carrot but less people complain about the pollen minigame
That minigame is the only problem with the game, stopping it right before true perfection, which no game has ever experienced
Color splash should be higher, but at least someone finally says that huey is rememberable.

I would switch Paper Jam with Color Splash, at least Paper Jam had good gameplay and Bowser was a pretty badass villain, especially compared to how he was in SS and CS.
Color splash is comedy gold, thats all it has

Guys we must get our weapons now, he doesn't like Bowser's inside story the most... jk I have the game but when I was smaller I hated Bowser's inside story because I got stuck on something. It wasn't a boss or a map, it was the carrot mini game but now it's not that hard because since I was a preschooler I didn't care about reading the text but when I tried to read it, I was so bad at reading. I am surprised I beat swiggler in partners in time and not sunnycide because I still take a while beating sunnycide but at least I beat him right.

12) Sticker Star - No explanation needed. Just... B A D!
11) Super Mario RPG - It's dated. It's not bad, but I just didn't enjoy it as much. Geno is great though!
10) Paper Jam - Just the worst M&L
9) Paper Mario 64 - Felt underwhelming, to be honest
8) Partners in Time - I just didn't enjoy it as much and Elder Princess Shroob was horrible to fight
7) Color Splash - Not actually that bad, just a flawed battle system and an unoriginal main villain with terrible motives
6) Superstar Saga - Not an overly deep story, but Cackletta's Soul is an epic battle! Bowletta however... is a big mistake!
5) Mario & Rabbids - Kingdom Battle - Really fun actually. I love rabbids anyway so this was a welcome crossover. Plus, who doesn't want to see Yoshi with a machine gun or an operatic Rabbid dissing Mario?
4) Dream Team - Interesting new ideas in the game battle-wise and Antasma is amazing
3) Origami King - Probably gonna be ignored by those stubborn TTYD fans who don't even bother playing the new PM games, but it's really good!
2) Bowser's Inside Story - Best M&L and Fawful is great. Final battle music is dope and everything is great with this.
1) Super Paper Mario - The best story in a Mario game EVER, amazing characters and soundtrack!
So where's TTYD? Well, I haven't played it. My guess, between Color Splash and Superstar Saga. I feel it's probably over-glorified by some TTYD fans (you know if you're one of them!) but still seems pretty good. I already like Doopliss and Shadow Queen Phase 2 music!
