- Alphadream was founded on January 12th, 2000 by Tetsuo Mizuno in Tokyo, Japan. Many of the company’s staff formerly worked at Square, which you may recognize as making the Final Fantasy series, but more importantly for this context, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, the precursor to every RPG with Mario likeness.

The one thing Mario & Luigi had over Pokémon in recent years is actual gameplay difficulty.
While I do like the latter’s library of new creatures, villains and characters, Mario & Luigi’s entire cast is objectively better, no matter what M&L game (original or remake) they’re in.
It’s impressive how AlphaDream’s final game gave Bowser Jr. some significant characterisation on par with his beloved father.
they should of had a m&l game where you play as Wario and waluigi along with Mario and luigi instead of paper jam
@@angelmunoz4152 i don't think waluigi will ever be given the spotlight, he existed to give wario a partner in the sports games and imo that's where he belongs
Funnily enough, the 3D characters are actually sprites, and the paper characters are the 3D models.

Precious. Thank you for making this. I cried when they announced bankruptcy. Bowser’s Inside Story is the first game I ever remember feeling hyped for a release of as a little kid. So many good memories with this series. Rest In Peace AlphaDream
I dont get the joke The first race are the Caltoreans. They are a race of hyper-intelligent humanoids who have advanced their technology and society nearly three thousand years ahead of anyone else in the Zova system. Their whole world is composed of a global tech park, dedicated to the sciences and arts. The Caltoreans may be arrogant, and maybe even antisocial at times, but they are always curious. The second race are the Dragorigans. Everything they lack in terms of technology and society they make up for in combative ability and especially size. The planet itself, Drangerek, can be compared to eight Jupiters arranged in a cube form in terms of size. These titans actually keep dragons as little pets. They are very primative, agressive, and unintelligent. However, they do have a strong advantage against others due to their advanced size, allowing them to crush any opponents they meet with little to no effort. The third race are the Caltoreans. The fact they thought adding paper Luigi would be too much because controlling four characters would not work when they had previously done it before in Partners in Time is baffling and shows how they played way too safe with what could have been another flawless game on their record. That and the remakes. While superstar saga is a great choice, the original bowsers inside story could be played on 3DS meaning only the extra content is really worth playing the remake!
You use 3 buttons all the time in PJ, while you're technically using 4 buttons, it's not all the time in both battles and overworld. Trying to dodge attacks with mario and luigi plus their paper versions would be too much. Don't know why they didn't make him part of an attack for paper Mario in some capacity tho
R.I.P Alphadream. Thank you for the great memories you gave me as a child with your games. You will dearly be missed and I’m sorry for how you ended up.

Great documentary. It is sad to see a good game developer go bust. I think that the struggle with some unreleased games's development, the heavy reliance on tutorials and the focus on what is considered as "safe" are the cause of Alphadream bankruptcy. Their last released game was Mario and Sonic at Olympic games.
Not really, it's because they were partnering with a company to make a mobile game but ended up not getting paid and going in debt

The remakes are cool and the remastered music is awesome but honestly I love the old art style too much to enjoy the games the same way, Bowser's Inside Story in particular just doesn't feel the same

@@Mqstodon yeah but it's super cool and hip to hate on paper jam and act like it's nothing but trash due to the story being simplistic, despite the writing, characterization, and gameplay being as on point as always

@@Mqstodon I mean, I mean, no much atleast for me. Except for the inconsistent difficulty unlike the original, the soundtrack was amazing, but that one depends on the opinion of every one, anyways it can't be denied that it was a fair recreation, the BOWSER JR QUEST, damn that is underrated stuff, it got so much better since Bowser's Minions and that was already good, but it fixed all it had to be fixed.
Also, it runs at inconsistent 30fps, unlike the other 3DS entries that were more consistent (most noticeable playing as Bowser)
The new graphics looks great, that pixel art sure takes its time to do. Bowser seems a little bit off compared to the original but asides of that the lighting effects and the 3D backrounds and everything looks great. Doesn't feels as good with the inconsistent 30fps, guess SSDX set the bar too hight.
Also, the Bros. Attacks had their redesign in terms of gameplay, SSDX did this too but I think it was less noticeable for people considering there are less Bros. Attacks there, but I think it was the best thing to do so they weren't OP with the more-time given to press the buttons, and nah, I like how they are now, none Bros. Attacks are infinite since Dream Team.
It was still a fair recreation and another great way to enjoy the game.

I remember when my parents bought me a 3ds, it was the year of Luigi edition, with a Mario and Luigi art on it, and Mario and Luigi: Dream Team downloaded on it
It was the first nintendo game I owned and I had the best time with it, I enjoyed it so much that I bought the old Bowser’s Inside Story when I saw it on a GameStop shelf
These games were my childhood, and I’m so sad it will never see any new games, and kids won’t be able to enjoy it just like me

People blame Alpha Dream for bad management, which is very misdirected!
Well that poor management came from Shigeru Miyamoto and his quality-assurance-team, who stripped 2nd parties of all creative freedom, and imposed restrictions to artificially lower creative content, to keep the in-house content looking superior in comparison.
And yet people still praise him? I love his works but seriously he needs to stop this kind of strategic mess

It sucks they went bankrupt I really loved those games, but to look on some sort of bright side we might get thousand year door 2 because Nintendo will need some Mario rpg.

Since Mario & Luigi is dead, Paper Mario is very generic, And Square Enix won’t allow them to make a Super Mario RPG Sequel. there will never be a unique Mario RPG ever again. Just Generic Paper Mario.
The Origami king was far from being like color splash or sticker star, it had quite a few original characters and had better NPCS and story then it's previous 2 games, and the gameplay is fresh and new. Despite it not doing justice for TTYD, it's a good paper mario game and is on par with super paper mario. However the paper mario games to come after it may put the series back in the color splash and sticker star era since now they are clearing out all original characters from paper mario, for good this time and idk how some were made for Origami king but it was probably a oversight by the director of the game.
