I have been an Avs fan ever since they moved here, from Quebec. That 95-96 Avs team was unbelievable. especially bringing home the first ever Major league championship to city Denver. I don't think there will ever be another team like the 95-96 Avs team ever.
Game 4 of the finals in Miami has to be one of the greatest goaltending performances from both teams in history. I mean Roy and Beezy didn't let in a single goal until the 3rd fucking overtime. Major Avs fan but I have so much respect for the Panthers and Vanbeesbruck.
I was around 9 or 10 when the Avs took this cup. Was at mcnichols when it happened. my dads best friend locked his keys in his car that night. Krupp from the blue line, 3rd OT winner. A day that will live in infamy
It turned out that the move to Colorado worked out well and they would’ve won the Stanley Cup against my Rangers in 2014, had it not been for that unlucky overtime goal in game 3 in Minnesota, which would’ve been their 3rd Cup in franchise history.
The refs were fucking blind all games. Chicago was robbbbbbeeedd game 4. So many missed penalties. 1996 was the worst stanley cups in my opinion. Ref#25 for game 4 of chi and avs was definelty payed off. Fuck that dude.
No one seems to talk about Peter Forsberg in this movie, that guy had 116 points that season! I bet hes back must had been painful after carrying the team
This is my Favorite team, I watched all three Stanley Cup wins. I love the second cup, helping Ray Bourque. Finally getting his first ever Stanley Cup win. Between the second and third cup, I stopped watching for a while. My heart got broken when the team traded away our Star players. Peter Forsberg and others. I had a wish for every team, that will NEVER come true. It's to not trade anyone, all players staying with the same team. All the way to their choice to retire. This is why I stopped watching after the second cup win. My spirit got lifted when we won our third cup win❤
Sad that we lost MR.Lacroix to fuckin Covid! R.I.P Thank you for what you did for the sport in Denver and that's coming from a Nordiques fan We cried tears of joy with you when you guys won that cup....GO AVS!
Stanley Cup playoffs are near and our Avs have a title to defend. In the mean time, I’ll be watching this as hype up. As an Avs fan from New Orleans to my fellow Avalanche fans across the states; Let’s go Avs!!
The longest 1-0 game in Stanley Cup history was commemorated by the Florida Panthers organization by making puck size "Slices of Ice" from the melted ice from Game 4. 1996 of them were placed in a Stanley Cup shaped piece of Lucite, individually numbered. I have one of them, does anyone else?
Definitely wouldn't be as 1 sided this year though, the Panthers are legit when they get goalie play. I would much rather face them than the lightning though
How the Hell do you trade Patty Roy is beyond me ... he was the Montreal Canadians. But the new HC & GM needed to flex their muscles . All I can say is as a Bruins fan I was thrilled to have him out the division
Roy got scored on a lot times in the playoffs and the coach benched him. He was so offended (as he should be for playing god like in pursuit of two rings) that he marched right up to the coach during the game and demanded a trade. He got one.
@@MrKegan321 The head coach of the Montreal Canadians didn't make a goalie switch with Roy until after the 9th goal was scored on him in a game against the Detroit Red Wings on 1995. When he went on the bench he said to the team president that he would never play for the Montreal Canadians again and then he was immediately traded to the Colorado Avalanche
You know Colorado had a great team that year same with alot of other teams Chicago gave the avas. Problems same with the Red Wings !!!you know what they played a tough opponent the Devils in the cup finals !!!
Never forgiving Florida EVER for robbing us of 90's Avs vs. 90's Penguins....cmon...Sakic and Forsberg vs. Lemieux and Jagr? Once in a lifetime matchup.
This team was a great playing team that played exciting hockey 🏒 👏 other great teams that year was Detroit Red Wings, St. LOUIS BLUES,,BUFFALO SABRES,,TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS,,,,LOS ANGELES KINGS,,,,,,NEW JERSESEY DEVILS,,MONTREAL Candiens,,Boston Bruins,,,,,,and others kind of having a memory laspe
it was very hard....but we cried tears of joy when they won cause I think we still felt like it was our team....doesn't mean we would have won if they stayed in Quebec anyway....maybe Patrick wouldn't have signed with Quebec...we'll never know...I'll always like the Avalanche
The Nordiques in 1996 would not have won. No way does MTL trade Roy to them. Maybe he goes there as a free agent later. But assuming Quebec gets out of the East and faces either Detroit or Chicago, they don’t win. Colorado doesn’t get past Detroit without Roy and he was likely the difference in the Chicago series as well. (Food poisoning for the billion dollar barfer Belfour and a bad pain shot for that prick Chelios helped too…)
Forsberg burning Lidstrom and Ozzy god that still hurts me. I remember exactly where i was during that goal. I remember my boss looking at me and saying its over..😢
It wasn't 'toxic'. Clearly you never heard the backstory behind the 'rat tossing'. Scott Mellanby of the Panthers killed a rat in the team's dressing room then went out & scored 2 goals in their home opener. After the game during interviews, Panthers goalie John Vanbiesbrouck said 'Mellenby killed a rat in our dressing room before the game then went out & scored 2 goals, so he got a 'Rat Trick' tonight'. THAT is how the rat-tossing after they scored started. It WASN'T some 'toxic' thing at all. There, I hope I've educated you a bit more now. You're welcome.
"Well, I couldnt hear Jeremy, I had my 2 stanley cup rings plugging my ears"..🤣 Roy was a savage
And the rat in their pocket one. Burn a whole fan base with a few words.
I’m a wings fan and I’ll give it to Roy😂 that was awesome
Was suggested my Mike Keane, former Habs captain. what a group!
Why would you put the rings in your ears...
@@Foxentailsa verrrry eccentric goalie.

I was at that game 5 at McNichols when Joe netted the OT winner. One of the best moments of my life.

It's Vanbiesbrouck. Yeah, I didn't spell it correctly the first time either.
It was the longest 1-0 game in Stanley Cup history, the game didn't end until the next day.
Where is your class? There is no reason to use foul language.

This was my first season from which I began to support COL. Actually i was a big fan Val Kamensky when he played in CSKA.
It turned out that the move to Colorado worked out well and they would’ve won the Stanley Cup against my Rangers in 2014, had it not been for that unlucky overtime goal in game 3 in Minnesota, which would’ve been their 3rd Cup in franchise history.
I totally forgot, but Deadmarsh was A-line with Sakic and Forsberg. He was better than I remember
The Chicago/Colorado 2nd round series is wildly underrated.
I still think that may be one of the greatest series I ever have seen
There is Nothing in ALL of Sports better than the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Blacks - Avs series played how many OT games -3OT gm , Double OT
Game 3 was one of the most fun games I ever watched.

And now we won our 3rd Stanley Cup
