Forsberg and Sakic are one of the greatest duos of centers of all time. They were both ultra-talented, they were both elite playmakers that made their teammates better, they were both leaders, and they were both great examples off the ice. Seeing them play, you knew that you were watching something special.

As an Avs fan during that time, we were so spoiled. You had the speed and snipes from Sakic, and then Forsberg would go out and just bulldoze people while making uncanny passes. Opposing teams would have to decide which 2nd d pairing of theirs was getting thrown under the bus lol. It was insane to watch.

He was like: if you built a player in a lab, that had Gretzky’s playmaking, passing ability, and intelligence - With Lemieux’s talent … And made it so that he was also the best defensive player in the world, and the best hitter in the world.
It’s crazy just thinking about how great he was.

There have been great offensive players who were great hitters: Lindros, Ovechkin, Reonick …
There’s never been a player that was all of those things-combined.
      Except Peter Forsberg
On top of that - There’s never been another player who was the best playmaker in the league, the best/most talented offensive player, the best defensive player, and also one of the best hitters.
Forsberg wasn’t just a great offensive and defensive player-He was the best in the league, at both.
