Hey guys! I spent a lot of hours creating this video. Given that the clips are extremely difficult to find. Hopefully you enjoyed and appreciated my vids! Anyway, drop your NBA Timeline videos!

Did you realize the Knicks made it to the playoffs every year from 1988 until 2001
What a streak
And along the way they blew 3-1 leads. Can’t think of any other franchise with as many in the same time span.
@@NoName-zm1ksbuffalo bills lost 4 straight super bowls that’s gotta hurt 😅
Ewing knicks was a success....wtf?
@@antmck99Yes they were a success in that they were in the conversation every year. They were only a Charles Smith layup and a Starks 3 from a couple of championships. It hurts but ya gotta be in it to win it.
1999 season in a nutshell:
- 50 game lockout season
- All star game was cancelled
- Bulls went from def champs to worst team record
- Pat Ewing season ending injury
- Knicks made the finals as 8th seed
- Spurs win 1st title
🥲🥲
New York Knicks as an 8th ranked team to make it to the NBA finals in 1998-99,but unfortunately they would lose to the San Antonio Spurs, led by Tim Duncan and David Robinson in 5 GMs?
What a weird season
we really needed Ewing in those finals. there was no way we could stop the twin towers without him.
That knee injury back in the 1980s was a long suffering one. Ewing’s playoff points avg showing.
No narrating , perfect, just perfect. Nothing worse than listening to some kid's high pitched voice over great clips.
Very much appreciated man!
With MJ playing baseball and the east being wide open, '94-'95 was 1000% Ewings best shot at winning a ring.
Still very unfortunate
Olajuwon was just a little bit better.
@@sgshumblecrumb6046 If John Starks could have thrown the ball in the ocean in Game 7, the Knicks would have won.
93/94 is the season you mean. Jordan came back in spring of ‘95
@@silver9729 Yea but he didnt return to full form until the season after
Ewing wasn’t the only great player to not win a championship during this era.
A lot of heartbreak for my Knicks in 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, & 1997
Should’ve never let X go after the 1992 season.
Charles Smith, in Game 5, will haunt me until I die
I think y'all finally beat the Bulls with MJ in 97 if the fight doesn't happen
@@BallCDO I agree. Ewing still had his legs and he had the best talent around him he had in his career. 1997 was a rough season.
Especially considering we went on to knock The Heat out of the postseason in 1998, 1999 & 2000
@@BaddogSports ima Bulls fan and y'all had our number that year.
I still say Charles got fouled...
Charles Smith was fouled like four times.
It’s just sucks that we could never win, a championship with Patrick Ewing. Because he was one Hell of a player.
Do you think embid is the proper comparison for today?
Very unfortunate man
@@t-god2439 eh
They didn't get him enough help during his prime. The second best player of the team was John Starks
@@neilbryanbucsit197 I’m mean it’s looking that way. For as good as embid is he just can’t win. For as good as pat was he just can’t win
As a Knicks fan for 30 years, I truly appreciate this video. The emotional rollercoaster of being a Knicks fan is not for the weak lol
Thank you very much
Big facts. I feel like I lost years on my life being a Knicks fan. Lol
Shit i lost money, cried numerous times, was angered at the many times they lost and they many times they got cheated!
(Knicks fan since 1990)
Amen to that. Those 8 points in 10 seconds by Reggie Miller in 95 almost had me contemplating ending it all. 😂
@@PHR94 word 😂😂
Ewing is an all time great and one of the best centers in league history. What I love most about him is his fighting spirit. No complaints, no excuses, just put his head down and go to work.
True man. Very humble. He just played the game. Still he got all the blame
@@jaywarvz He couldn't hang with Hakeem.
Can you imagine any modern NBA team trying to go against Ewing, Oakley, Anthony Mason, X Man, John Starks and the rest? They'd end up in the hospital.
🙄 AHHH NO thanks to Curry most players can shoot 3s the results would be a little worse
Well modern players are shooters
Yeah that 92 Knick team was fuckin loaded
True, but they’d still win
Like Le Bron James. They in a way, became the new Detroit Piston Bad Boys,
People forget the Pacers! That was another elite team in the east in the 90s and '00s. Multiple ECFs, bumped off the Knicks a few times, gave the Bulls/MJ fits a few times, , etc. They should have won an NBA title too.
Indeed man. Until the early 2000s
Had Larry Brown stayed they would have won a title.
The two times they went to the finals, there were two “weird” occurrences, the 1994 MLB season was cancelled and in 1999 there was an NBA lockout with 50 games played
Really weird
Another weird occurrence was the “ OJ slow chase “ interrupted Game 5 of the NBA Finals
@@Bigreid92dumbest thing I ever saw. Was so annoyed when they cut off the finals for that

Interesting scenario
starks was a chock artist
Patrick Ewing is such a underrated center and he’s a top 10 center in my opinion
No doubt man
Top ten? I dunno.
Yeah top 10 center
1) Kareem 2)Wilt 3) Russell 4) Shaq 5) Hakeem 6) Moses Malone 7) The Admiral 8)Sikma 9)Bill Walton
10)Jokic
Do you even play basketball?@@afridgetoofar1818
It's not that complicated why they never won the title. The 80s and 90s was maybe the toughest era of basketball ever.
The East was very strong during the '80s and '90s.
Indeed man
The West with the Lakers (Shaq+Kobe), Spurs (Duncan, TP, Gino) & then GSW (Curry+Thompson+Durant) may want to have a word with you.
Ewing was severely outplayed by Hakeem in the Finals, needed a Hue Hollins call to get him to the Finals. His best team was with X-Man, Starks and Oakley. I noticed that you left out his dreaded missed finger roll against the Pacers that cost the Knicks that series. He was like the Mailman IMO; some great playoff moments, but not able to deliver in the clutch. Great upload 👌
Van Gundy explained the missed finger roll... Ewing played with a leg injury & couldn't elevate to the basket. That's why he missed. But yes, Hakeem did outplay him. Unfortunately Ewing was a traditional Center during the era when the game was moving towards domination by the Guards. And Hakeem played like a Guard.
16:22
Here is the dreaded missed finger roll by ewing
Hugh Hollins call or not I think the knicks still would have won that bulls series the same way they beat the pacers. Losing game 5 then winning games 6 and 7
You have no idea what your talking about and sound not intelligent in the sense of basketball.
Severely outplayed did you watch the series...Defense,Rebounds, Blocks etc count too..😂
Nothing says good morning like waking up and first thing you see is an almost half hour video of how your team failed to win 😍😍.
Well this is a great reminder
The Brooklyn Nets have joined the chat
3 big reasons:
-Knicks letting go of X man Xavier McDaniel after ‘92…and replacing him with Charles Smith
-Charles Smith being stopped 4 times in Game 5 of the ‘93 ECF
-Riley starting Starks over Blackman in the ‘94 Finals
Honorable mention is the Knicks-Heat brawl in ‘97 that cost the Knicks a chance at the Bulls in the ECF.
Ewing gave it his all and came up short. There’s nothing wrong with him ending without a ring. But he might have had up to 3 rings from 93/94/95 if FO/coaching decisions were different.
Very unfortunate
you forgot Knicks traded Prime Anthony Mason for washed up Larry Johnson
Exactly right. Traded G wilkins also. Why riley didn't use rolando?
Ummm why would he not start Starks?? It's more about Riley not sitting him out once he was like 1 for 10 and then going with another option.
Thank you for remembering that 97 moment. Ewing, Houston, Larry Johnson. I would loved to see them meet the Bulls.
Prime Patrick Ewing took prime if not peak Michael Jordan to 7 games in 92, and came within a blocked possible buzzer beating three-point attempt by John Starks that would have literally won the Knicks the championship in 94, had the shot gone in. This was all without any legit star #2 on his team. Ewing was historically underrated.
Definitely man. What a great team basketball
I recall the Charles Smith layup how can I ever forget that being my name but what Starks 3 the k e against Houston where he shit like 6-27 n couldn't buy a basket
Yeah he did but that was the last time Chicago n mike went 7 games n Mike was at his peak but so was Scottie n Horace plus they kept a great bench where each player knew what they did n did it well
The ‘99 Knicks might’ve been one of the greatest underdogs in NBA history. Upset the top-seeded Heat, & made straightly to the finals as an 8th seed. Imagine if they would win a championship run as underdogs.
But it was a lockout season so the sedding wasn't what it normally was. Also miami heat last year easily no.1 in underdog stories
Knicks lost trash 🐀
Sounds like a familiar team that we saw last year
The Twin Towers were just too much for the Ewing-less Knicks. But even if Ewing played, they would still lose the series in San Antonio
@@alanarmstrong6460the 2023 Heat were still projected to be better than that Knicks team
Such a heartbreaking journey for Ewing and the Knicks. Despite their incredible talent and determination, the elusive NBA title always seemed to slip away. This timeline is a poignant reminder of the challenges they faced and the enduring spirit of their fans. A testament to the highs and lows of sports, and the resilience of those who never stop believing.
Very unfortunate man
They were not extremely talented besides Ewing and that's the reason they failed during the Riley era. The played liked the Bad Boys Pistons on defense but without Detroit's efficient offense. They were better offensively from 1996-2000 and their biggest chance were the 1997 playoffs , but the suspensions ruined their season.
@@georgiosgrigoriadis6200nah, it wasn’t all that. It was a guy named Michael Jordan.
Excellent documentary! It proved how much Pat was a victim of the cheapness and incompetence of the front office yet Oakley is yapping blaming Pat for everything.
Very much appreciated man
Yeah, Oakley needs to take a couple of seats. In fact, he may be the reason why they couldn't advance. Bulls traded him & the won right after that. I also remember games where Oak & Mason literally fought for the same rebound. They were doing the same job. We should've let Oak go (Mason was a better scorer) for a true 3-man. But the problem with NY sports teams in that era is that they'd rather sign big names & fan favorites to maintain ticket sales over people that can actually get the job done.
It didn't matter, Oakley was no scorer and Chicago still played Mike-or-nothing, wouldn't get past Detroit anyway. It wasn't until Phil Jackson implemented the triangle where they consistently got 60+ points from their "big 3" (Jordan, Pippen, Grant) that they finally beat the Pistons.
I think the Marc Jackson trade hurt alot
I dont think the Larry Johnson trade was a win either, Anthony Mason was better
Facts man
Thank you for this. Brings me back. '95 & '97 hurt the most for me. The underachieving Knicks.
Welcome man
Nets fan. I feel so bad for Starks. Can't imagine being in that locker room after game 7. 😢
So horrible man
This brings back bad memories. It's kind of tough when they had to play against Miller and the Pacers and Jordan and the Bulls.
Very unfortunate

@@jaywarvz no problem man
Thanks for a Patrick Ewing video Jay
Also can you make a video on the Karl Malone and John Stockton Jazz team? That would be awesome imo
Sure man
I wonder if everyone here could understand the great parity that the NBA has. Ever since Patrick Ewing joined the league all the way until now, virtually every single team in the NBA has made at least one appearance in the finals, win or lose, or has reached the conference finals. In that time span, you haven’t seen that from every team in the NFL or MLB, or even the NHL.
The 93 playoff series vs Bulls was an epic fail. Went up 2-0 then lost 4 straight.
Knicks collapsed. So tough
4:49; man was Mark Jackson salty when the new GM drafted Rod Strickland. Most Knicks fans will tell you that they kept the wrong PG, Excellent video.
True man. Thanks
Finally after asking you for months thank you!!!
Thank you for supporting man!
Next should be jazz timeline of Stockton and Malone
There's a reason why Malone is never mentioned on basketball channels.
Maybe soon man
Ewing had the bad luck of having to start his career during the Magic/Bird era. Then when the team was assembled to win, Ewing had to contend facing the best player of his generation: MJ. Then after MJ retires from the Bulls, Ewing gets injured and the Knicks never go back to winning again. Then Ewing ends up his last two years of NBA play at Seattle and Orlando. Story of tragedy and bad luck!
He really deserved a ring. So tough for him man
@nikolaivista
The East was strong during the '80s and '90s too.
Then all of a sudden the west got really strong during the '00s. Whoever came out of the east during the '00s was dog feed for the western teams. Just bad timing for the Knicks/Ewing.
@@jkbezo1 True. Only the Pistons in the mid 2000s did good in the East! Then the Celtics with KG, PP and RA had their little run. Other than them two, the East was pathetic in that decade!

Wow this was amazing. Brings a lit of pain as a knick fan. You need to make more videos like this.

'94 was obviously the best chance to win it all but lost a very close game 6. Knicks had great chance to win game 5 vs Bulls in '93 and couldve won that series but not sure they wouldve beat suns. They shouldve beat Pacers in '95 but blew game 1 and game 7. But who knows if they wouldve defeated magic or rockets 2nd time around.
Very unfortunate

The Knicks were a great team during the '90s. Had some strong teams. Tuff luck for them during the '90s, the East was pretty strong. Ran into to the Bulls and Pacers often in the playoffs. They should have beaten the Rockets in '94 for the NBA title. And '99, Ewing was old and injured. Spurs won their first NBA title. Knicks could have won at least 1 NBA title during that decade.
Last NBA title for NY Knicks was 1973.
Very unfortunate

Let's be honest in 00 had Patrick not gotten hurt in the ECF the Knicks play LA where Patrick gets absolutely bodied by shaq
Indeed. Ewing was old
Great job capturing all the ups and downs of the Knicks franchise. I've been a fan since 1982 and let me tell ya, I can't think of another franchise that has had more let-downs and bad breaks. Ewing twice getting injured when they needed him the most (esp. in '99), Starks shooting them out of gm 7, Charles Smith's inability to go up strong, the Miami "fight game" and of course Ewing's missed finger-roll game against the Pacers.
Very unfortunate

Bro, i didn't know the late great Michael Jackson was drafted in the NBA 2:14 LOL
Hee hee!
Wow I never knew Don Nelson was the Knicks coach. Why would they fire him that fast with a winning record🤔
Don Nelson says he got fired by the Knicks for trying to trade Ewing in 1996 for Shaq
@jaywarvz lol that's why the knicks are were they always been, Shaq was the premier center in '96 and Ewing is getting older and digressing by that point
Main player that kept them out was Michael Jordan and the Bulls. 1989, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1996. The 1993 ECF in Game 5 at MSG had to be a dagger in the heart of New York fans because they had homecourt and needed to win the games played at MSG to win the series, regardless of the outcomes of the games played in Chicago.
Very unfortunate

It was exciting to watch Ewing, Oakley and Starks battle their opponents in the playoffs! It all went down hill for me when they invested a lot of their resources on Allan Houston. They tried to advertise Houston as a great player. I never saw that, in fact he was boring to watch.
Houston only scores, nothing else
I love Patrick Ewing, I wish he retired a knick but I can understand the strong passion to win a championship. One of the all time greatest
Regardless what a great career
As a knicks fan hopefully this is the year we can finally win it all
Gotta stay healthy though. That’s the biggest thing for this knicks team
Maybe not yet this season. They need more experience
I’ll never understand why the Knicks GM didn’t give that 1991-92 roster a second go around just to see how far they could get in the 1992-93 season. I could see waiving Gerold Wilkins because they had a younger John Starks on the bench. It would’ve been interesting to see nonetheless.
That's right man
I lived this entire video in real time.
😅
Knicks fan since 1982.
Wow that's cool
Would have loved to have been able to run it back with Xavier McDaniel for another 2 more seasons. They established a Detroit Pistons bad boys identity with Xman and probably could've made a deep run at the playoffs. Instead they went soft and got Charles Smith who was an okay player but had good stats while playing on a bad team in the Clippers.
Yes man. What could have been
As an Illinois midwesterner that was a huge Knicks fan in the 90's I say shame on you sir! You cannot fathom the pain.
However, being a Knicks fan taught me more valuable life lessons than the Bulls fans I was surrounded by. And we have the magical 99 run. If they had a healthy Ewing they win that finals against the insanely stacked Spurs team. Facing two MVP centers with Chris Dudley with a broken hand was too much for any team to overcome.
And the LJ four point play game winner. Cant take that away...

Awesome video! Looking back on Ewings career and those Knicks years I think about today's NBA and wish a superstar would've teamed up with Ewing. The guy I really wish would've joined him was for the most part in the same boat.... Reggie Miller. Imagine after his NY drama that he ends up going to New York and teaming up with Ewing. The real heartbreak was that King and Ewing never teamed up. The Ewing Knicks never had a real consistent second option to Ewing in his prime. When Houston and Johnson came along he was on the decline.

I wish we got sprewell and Houston before Ewing got hurt sad seeing Ewing elite numbers with John starks and Oakley as second options we were never gonna win with starks as a second option but they were within 1 game 😢

Patrick Ewing give everything he had and everything challenge..
Those two seasons before MJ Come out of Retirement..
In 1994 nba finals game 6 against Houston Rockets, he was ice / not played well and Game 7 by John Starks is so real ice cold or is like very shut it down ..
And 1995 against Indiana Pacers at Eastern Conference Semifinals , Game 7 ...he was wide open , but just brick of missed / like too much extended his arm ..

It took the Knicks too long to build a team around Ewing. In Ewings prime, there wasnt enough offense to win a title. However once they got Johnson, Houston and Sprewell, Ewing wasnt the same. I honestly do believe if Ewing had the 99 roster in his prime they would've been better than the 90s Bulls
