- Completing RPG or JRPG games is risky. So much content and what can be considered as completionist requirements, and Persona 5 is no exception. It's a daunting game that kept me invested the entire playthrough, and I'm happy to present to you this episode because it was the most voted game to complete from our IndieLand event. Now right off the bat, this isn't the Persona 5 Royal version. I didn't expect to be so interested in the story the entire time, from the stylish action to the integrated drama right before pulling a heist. There's so much to say in this very special Persona 5 review.

“I’d have to play through the game 10 times to get each girl’s Valentine’s Day gift...”
Oh you poor soul.
He did a vlog about this a while back, I along with many fans told him Jirard, man, we know you are the completionist but come on man don't do that to yourself.
In the Royal you get all the chocolates regardless if you romanced them or not.

@@brendancorey7831 Not a copy of DKC2?
oh man, if you had to find Will Seeds for Jirard, what do you think they would be?
This game isn’t really designed to be fully completed. It’s designed to give a slightly different experience for everyone.
That is the most true statement i have ever heard
I never really thought of it that way. That's most definitely true!
Same as Xenoblade 2.
People like to dog on the blade system but it's designed in a way so that everyone who plays has a different combat experience starting (due to pool tables) and the randomness of blades later on dictates how you approach certain tasks or what to focus on. It's not for everyone but it does have it's good qualities.
@@Hephaestus_God the problem people have with the blade system is that it's a gacha, and people don't like gachas in their $60 RPG. Generally people are gonna end up using the guaranteed blades on most of the party members anyways- Rex has Pyra, Roc, and Nia, Nia has Dromarch, Morag has Brighid and Aegaeon, and Zeke has Pandoria, along with pulling Wulfric guaranteed. The main problem I have with the system is that there's no way to guarantee Rare Blades, so even if you're able to grind out rare crystals you can't guarantee getting the actual cool Blades that you want to use. There's a limit to how much RNG that people will accept in video games- gacha games operate on exploiting people whose limit is higher and will put up with bad RNG for the rush of getting what they want. In Xenoblade 2's Blade system, there's no return like that for the developers, and the only result is forcing players to play the lottery in hopes they can get what they want, which is highly unreasonable considering it's a core mechanic. I'm not saying it can't have any RNG, I'm just saying the RNG is too heavy. Rare core crystals for example should have at least a 50% chance of offering a Rare Blade, regardless of the available pool of Rare Blades left, and the Booster items, if you use 5 of them at once, should 100% guarantee you get a Blade of one of the 2 corresponding elements. It would still allow for a unique experience while streamlining the process of grinding for completion for people who've already finished the game.

"This enemy is weak to guns." Was one of the funniest things I've ever been told in a video game.
They usually are, some more than others

IF you ever do Royal, just do the new content. You already completed the vanilla version. Take care of yourself, dude. You’re a treasure.
You still have to get ALL the new personas, all the Mementos stamps, all the R-variants of the ultimate weapons (only available during a fusion alarm), unlock all the third tier personas in third semester, get all of the will seeds in every palace, max out Yoshizawa's, Maruki's and Akechi's confidants, as well as defeating not one, not two, but FIVE optional boss battles (Lavenza, Jose, Narukami, p3-kun, and the Narukami AND p3-kun together).
P5R is an absolute behemoth of a game, one where the new content was designed for people who already beat base P5. The new layouts of the palaces, and the reworked boss fights, make it different.

@@tms.tbager1663 The idea is that each datable confidant gives the prompt to date at a specific rank (9 usually), so if all datable confidants are at rank 8 in the last month of the game, Jirard could theoretically max out whoever he wants to date for the last in game month, get the official date item from them, then reload the save, and max someone else out, and only have to play that 1 in game month 10 times, rather than a new playthrough 10 times. Or something along those lines.

You ended up having a change of heart over your pre conceived cognition of what was required of you.
You know, you should do a series where you talk about games you've played or finished, but without the pressure of completing them 100%. I say that because I'd love to hear your thoughts on Royal, but I care about your mental health and stuff. Also, sometimes otherwise great games will have horribly long hours that can make completionists think differently of them. I understand that completing games is what makes this channel unique, but every once in a while you should do something like the progress reports you did a while ago. Stay sane and happy, Jirard. I know this is literally your job, but it should be fun for you. Lots of love.

As for Royal, I think you should give it one playthrough as a special New Game Plus episode. There’s only one new character to romance (Kasumi, Best Girl) and two new endings to experience (that are right next to each other). The new stuff is great, but you’ll probably like the gameplay refinements even more considering you played the original so much (ammo refills after every battle!! I have kind of a suggestion: IF you consider to do the royal version, why don‘t you just primarily focus on the new content and try to do it in way that rewards you for the time you have spent on the game already
He’s the completionist it’s all or nothing
There's the in game completion thing too, the awards that's probably all that's needed no?
Royal is easier to 100%, the Thieves Den tracks progress across all saves so you can save scum for the romance/confidant awards and stuff like fishing, reading books and going to the maid cafe.
I mean i agree especially since it's essentially a remake/final mix version not a full blown "sequel" like P6 would be if it existed
There's a ton of Thieves' Den reward which, luckily, aren't required for platinum, but whenever Jirard gets around to Royal, hopefully, he doesn't try to get every one. Luckily, they carry over throughout saves.
Do you reckon that Joker yells "I'LL REVEAL YOUR TRUE FORM" while in bed?
In the anime series, he grabs the face of a person pretending to be a ghost in the haunted house and said "I'll reveal your true form". Maybe he has PTSD from the metaverse.

You can say that again, not to mention we finally got the Persona 5 review we were all waiting for, it takes real balls to complete a game like this man, you deserve an award or something! CONGRATS!! 🥂😌👍
Sae: "I'll interrogate you now. However we don't have much time so we have to be quick."

That's the Persona series in a nutshell.
Especially in Persona 3, where you have no choice but to romance all the girls.

I love your content... you do things in games I would never dream of, I think you more than completed this game. I'm glad you didnt give up. I've only just played this game through the first time with a play time of 120 hours. I started a second playthrough to collect some trophies but trying to complete it more than twice seems a huge task.
I appreciate this show so much. it is still blowing my mind that I won't watch Netflix or anything and would rather tune in to see something created by this team. Very talented!
If Jirard ends up getting around to Royal, it's a completionist's dream: Without spoilers, you have a museum-esque area that you can access where you can meet friends, unlock awards based on your progress and trophies that are tied to various aspects from daily life and friends to being a phantom thief and battling. I have invested 200 hours since release into the game since the quarantine and I have never felt so glad unlocking rewards that felt earned.
And I believe the challenge for the romancing is only confessing the love. So he could just reload his save file for that one. ;)
Plus the trophy list is more easier to complete. You can do the entire thing on a single play through if you do it right
@@theSonicguy001 BUT! It wouldn't be complete if you didn't %100 the Thieve's Den.
Jayden White there’s no trophy for doing that (thank god!)
@@FirionLeFleur Actually you have to confess your love them get them rank 10 as a lover. After that just reload your save and your good. I did the confession and reloaded but they didn't count. When I started to Max them to 10 did it start to count.
Persona 5 Royal: Maybe in a few years. You need relax time
Maybe next DECADE!

Being a huge persona fan myself, I really love your video here you did more than enough for a video. Always take care of yourself!! When it comes to Royal I'd say at least play it for yourself too se the changes no need to slave over it and as you said, turn something you love into something you hate.

Man this deserves a lot more views considering the amount of work that went into it.
I won't be watching this (yet) because I haven't had the chance to play the game. Hopefully they release it on PC eventually, given the success of P4G.
It is always incredibly gratifying to listen to someone gush about something you love😂
When Jirard said "For Real?!" I felt that
Haru: "So good!"
Protagonist: “Alright"

Why did you do this

Unbelievable commitment and a journey all the way through
Ironically, the message he was preaching in this video translates very well with the added story of Persona 5 Royal.
As much as I love P5 playing it 12 times feels like some kind of torture lol
Ive played through the game 5 times; 4 through base P5 and once through P5R. I can not imagine doing it 7 more times. I need 3 more trophies for Royal, and I’m going to get them then put the game down, as i don’t need another 120 hours in the game. I already have 500.
I've played it 7 times thus far. 5 from Vanilla and 2 from Royal (1 in Japanese last year, 1 in English this year), but I guess it's because of my extreme love for P5 that 7 times feels like nothing and I'm ready. lol Only reason I'm not starting a 8th playthrough is because I'm replaying the sequel P5 Scramble for the second time and replaying other Persona games again (feels good to be back in Inaba in P4G!)
I feel it as of late. I did seven playthroughs for P5, in the middle of the eighth. And Royal once, at the same point as P5 for the second playthrough. I love this game to death and did nothing but play it for six weeks when I got into the series, but at this point in time, it feels more like a dredge to try and play through either game once more. I hate being burnt out of my favourite game ;_;
I'm glad you stopped. I love this game I've played through it twice, that's enough. I'm still playing p5R. You're a good man!
Hey, I just wanted to thank you for this video. It remember that video you had made about stress, and remember this game being mentioned. You put so much work into this video, and I appreciate you for that. It goes a bit deeper than that though. A few weeks before I saw this video I had downloaded P5 because it was cheap, and I had heard about it here and there so many times. When I watched this video on a whim, you pretty much immediately convinced me to stop watching and give the game a try. 16 hours of play and 2 days later, I was in love, and went to the store to buy Royal and restart as I knew I couldn't live with myself if I missed the new content. I finished Royal not that long ago, and it's become one of, if not my actual favourite game. Though the 120 hours I've put in, this game has become so incredibly important to me, in a time where life really had me down. I've felt a bit alone and sad, but as sad as it may seem, this game gave me something to be excited for each day. I got excited to hang out with my friends on event days. I'd go to work thinking I couldn't wait to go home and go to the beach with my friends! Hahaha
Now that Royal is over, I've gotten into Persona 3. I'm also now looking at other Atlus games like Catherine and other SMT games. I also just bout Tokyo Mirage Session.
If it wasn't for this video, P5 probably would have sat on my hard drive. Because of you, P5 came into my life exactly when I needed it the most, and for that, I thank you. This game has given me something I can't describe, but it's everything I needed right now, and more.
