"The soundtrack is only ok,"
angery
dyldragon1 lmao my only gripe with the soundtrack is that there isn't enough of them. Like you hear the same four soundtracks play during the daytime/nighttime cycle. But the palace specfic ost were really great. Overall the soundtrack in my opinion is the best in the series.
dyldragon1 I definitely like it, but an issue people could have with it is that unless if you consume Japanese media a lot and adapt to listening to "engrish" the vocals can be irritating or confusing to listen to. It is a complaint I have seen before and I cannot deny it, it is an issue that Japanese companies always use Japanese people in their works, even if some foreigner fluent in English would be much better.
dyldragon1 its not memorable. I have played almost every single Megaten game, and this soundtracks was the least memorable. That's not saying much, since it's still better than almost every game that has come out. Just compared to DDS, P3, Raidou, Nocturne, etc.. it doesn't compare
The soundtrack has been playing in my head since October, but I don't think its as good as some other SMT games. I do gotta stew on it as to where it ranks amongst the others, plus I need proper context for most of these songs, but it's pretty incredible as always for an SMT game.
DDS and Persona 4 for best soundtracks
Nyx Bee speedrun your life
In my opinion, the music was one of the best parts. It's so engaging. I listen to the soundtrack while driving and doing activities.

Fire Emblem Three Houses:
I swear how much money did they put in the voice acting in three houses.
@@scarletvoyager491 good question
I was so fk impressed with the voice acting in three houses. Not only are there dozens of people voice acting. They all have a shit ton of lines fully voiced and not just the grunts like in other fire emblem games. I think that is a part the game is brutally overlooked on. Very impressive.
@@GameTimeNLL normally I only care about 2 or 3 characters in a game but with FE3H, man I love like 90% of the characters and there are like 50 characters there man. It really is how fully voicing all lines gives much life to the characters.

"Fifth entry into the Persona series" it's actually the 6th. Persona 2 had two parts.
... not that anyone else has played Persona 2, who am I kidding.
Skadorski Gale a shame. they are great games.
i mean persona 3 had persona 3 fes and portable, while persona 4 had golden, persona 4 arena, persona 4 arena ultimax and persona 4, dancing all night. by that logic, persona 5 should've then been the twelth entry to the persona series
(and yes i do realize that eternal punishment has a completely different story than innocent sin, but in the end if you join those together it would be something like persona3fes, so)
Skadorski Gale innocent sin was my fav before 5.
FES was nothing other than an expansion at best. IS and EP are entirely different stories on their own.

I also wish the protagonist had more spoken dialogue. I understand that's a typical Persona thing but in this game it just felt weird for the leader of the group to just be standing there while everyone else was making the big plans.
that's the only turn off for me
That would make the game take way too long if you think about it
There's always The Animation coming out after the game's release, you know.
@@lemonov3031 welp, that fucking sucked. It gave the protag a lot less personality
I did think it was really funny how you're supposed to be the leader of the group yet you spend most of your time watching the others make all the decisions
the soundtrack was one of the best I've ever heard. listen to Last Surprise, Rivers in a Desert, Keeper of Lust, Blooming Villain, Beneath the Mask, Swear to my Bones, Sunset Bridge, Will Power and then you shall see. too many to list
It was good, but compared to other SMTs, it’s not that great. Only River in the Desert and 3rd Palace really stood out to me, compared to ALL battle themes from SMT IV.

How long did it take you to complete the game?
I stopped playing Persona 5 after I beat the museum boss but I’m playing on getting back into it to finish it
@@radioactive4184 Very late response here, don’t know if you ever returned to the game or not.
It took me 132 hours to complete the game (and that’s if you buy Persona 5 Royal)
Otherwise it’s probably around 80-110.
@@radioactive4184 Do it! For me, it was around the museum area in which I started to get into the game, and just a few hours later I was really starting to love it. If you like this game, you should also look into Persona 5 Royal, the same game with a bunch of improvements and then an entire 10-20 hours of new content at the end, as long as you increase the ‘councillor’ confidant
*EDIT:* Forgot to mention lol, it will take you roughly between 100-140 hours on a first playthrough.

I'm the minority of people who actually liked the beginning of this game i.e. Kamoshida, Madarame, etc.
Apparently everyone believes that Kaneshiro is when the game begins picking up, but honestly I loved it from the start.
Okumura is a drop in quality, but that's immediately followed by the best section of the game; so I forgive it
i think the big one is that by kaneshiro, the cast is at its best and has a really good balance with Ryuji, Mona, Ann, Yusuke and Makoto. plus by the time you get to kaneshiro, you have higher level bonds and better stats and you get to actually play the game as a whole
I love kamoshidas palace but I think people dont like it because of the fact that half of the palace is literally a tutorial so
I'd say Madarame is when it starts picking up. Kamoshida's portion is just an appetizer for the rest of the game.
I think Kamoshida and Madarame was tooooo slow,it was good dont get me wrong but it just took way too long.
Well that's because you can't really do anything in the early game. No confidants to hang out with. Can't go out at night cause Sojiro doesn't trust you yet. It's almost like a movie since you can't really do anything. Though I personally think Kamoshida is the best, most well developed villain. Didn't hate anyone nearly as much as him except maybe Akechi.
watching this three years later just reminds me of the time when my irl friends were legitimately scared that i wouldn't show up to a big party we were having because i was finishing persona 5

"Oh fuck uh sorry (girlfriends name) I can't can't come over my teacher is giving me an evening massage"

If youre getting a massage that means you can come over though
I had never played a Persona game before yet I instantly fell in love with this game. By the end of Kamoshida's palace I was already 100% invested in the game and the characters, so beautiful.
I think the whole idea of the silent protagonist is that YOU give him a voice

God damn this year has been so good for video games so far. Resident Evil 7, Breath of the Wild, Persona 5 among others that I haven't got the chance to play yet such as Nier and Horizon.
That reminds me, how come Cr1tikal never made a video on BotW? Was it because he didn't want Nintendo to claim his video, or is he just one of the three people that never played it? Or maybe something else.

Persona 3 has the better plot, but persona 4 and 5 have the better socializing and gameplay.
Persona 3 has a barely mediocre plot.
It's only popular because it's edgy.

I wonder how this thread is gonna end up like....
Persona 3 could have had a better plot if they cut out a lot of the filler and made better villains and didn't fuck up the ending so bad
Both actually.
I think Persona 3 was a huge accomplishment for Atlus at the time, but judging it objectively, and comparing it to it's sequels, it really shows that it truly was just a first attempt at the formula. The story wasn't dense enough, and it left too many loose ends, and a lot to be desired.
There were many other shortcomings like the flat main characters, but at the very least it was very ambitious and had a lot of heart.
On one hand this is one of the best reviews I've seen out there. On the other hand hearing Cr1tikal's voice talk seriously for 10 whole minutes has instilled in me a profound sense of unreality. 10/10
Only thing I disagree about is the soundtrack which is absolutely orgasmic imo

The game or the video?
There is literally no way you didn’t for damn near 4 years hear about persona 5 in some kind of way
Surprisingly enough, Persona 5 is the 6th main installment, since Persona 2 had both Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment
The music is like, one of the best soundtrack I've ever listened to.
I myself enjoyed Persona 5 by a lot. I am not a big fan of JRPGs and never have been, but all the hype I saw about the game on the internet made me play it. I also started to hear some P5 songs in my youtube music mix, so I decided to give it a try. Being hyped up, I didn't experience the 8-12 hours of boredom Charlie was takking about. I liked it from the go. Just like Charlie, the thing I like the most about this game is visuals. The red-black-and-white aesthethic is just so pleasing to look at and every little part of the UI just makes me experience visual orgasm. The soundtrack is something I still listen to this day, and I don't think it is going anywhere from my playlist any soon. Story - yeah, looking back, it wasn't anything special. Good, but not special. There was one moment though that got me screaming and shitting and almost bursting into tears from all the epicness of the event. And while fighting the final two bosses, I just couldn't help but get up and dance to the boss theme - that was idiotic, but the hype was real. And the whole thing about shadows and personas and facing your own self changed me in a way, made me better. In the end, I spent 115 hours in this game, been playing it for a year and a half, and I regret it about 10% only because I could be more productive in my highschool during these 115 hours. I give this game a 9.3/10

10:10 It's about time someone other than me called Joker Tuxedo Mask from Sailor Moon. I usually watch your videos throughout the years but must have missed this one. I was aware of Persona before this game and always enjoyed the look and anime cutscenes. I love Persona 4 and Persona 3. I remember a few people talked about Persona 5 especially one super fan but Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was the only experience I have with Persona 5 due to Joker being in that game. Although that doesn't really count It's still Joker and his move set. Persona 5 sounds amazing. Cool video. ^_^
Good review, the one thing that I think you messed up though was the thing about dialogue options. While some of the dialogue options lead to the same reaction, from what I can tell a vast majority of them get at least two or more different reactions out of the character you're speaking with.
After 120 hours of gameplay I've finally beat this game....it was amazing!
I just skipped to the end to see your rating, because anything related to Persona has a 99.9% chance of giving me Vietnam flashbacks.
