  • 🔰If you are reading this, Bukowski was probably speaking about you, watching a poetry video in the 21st century is definitely weird and strange. All I want to say is that I'm proud that this channel created a community of strange, kind, thoughtful, and unique people. Be weird, be strange, and be strong.
    -Love, illneas
🔰This entire movie was filmed in the city I live in, which is challenging for me to capture views that I see daily from a completely new perspective also I chose the voice of Bukowski for this one.

    The Strongest of the Strange
    you won’t see them often
    for wherever the crowd is
    they
    are not.
    those odd ones, not
    many
    but from them
    come
    the few
    good paintings
    the few
    good symphonies
    the few
    good books
    and other
    works.
    and from the
    best of the
    strange ones
    perhaps
    nothing.
    they are
    their own
    paintings
    their own
    books
    their own
    music
    their own
    work.
    sometimes I think
    I see
    them- say
    a certain old
    man
    sitting on a
    certain bench
    in a certain
    way
    or
    a quick face
    going the other
    way
    in a passing
    automobile
    or
    there’s a certain motion
    of the hands
    of a bag-boy or a bag-
    girl
    while packing
    supermarket
    groceries.
    sometimes
    it is even somebody
    you have been
    living with
    for some
    time-
    you will notice
    a
    lightning quick
    glance
    never seen
    from them
    before.
    sometimes
    you will only note
    their
    existance
    suddenly
    in
    vivid
    recall
    some months
    some years
    after they are
    gone.
    I remember
    such a
    one-
    he was about
    20 years old
    drunk at
    10 a.m.
    staring into
    a cracked
    New Orleans
    mirror
    facing dreaming
    against the
    walls of
    the world
    where
    did I
    go?

It's for those who don't go to Theatre or City's exibitions where they can meet other people the kinds of people that do not go to Pubs and Bars, restorants and discotakes. It's because of that. Alone and smoking his cigarette, looking out at the world whilst I looked up at him from the train station below. He had been there for quite a while I could tell, a strange stranger who I never saw again. I knew nothing about him and yet in that moment, it was as if I knew his soul as well as I knew my own.

    of a bag-boy or a bag-
    girl
    while packing
    supermarket
    groceries.
    sometimes
    it is even somebody
    you have been
    living with
    for some
    time -
    you will notice
    a
    lightning quick
    glance
    never seen
    from them
    before.
    sometimes
    you will only note
    their
    existance
    suddenly
    in
    vivid
    recall
    some months
    some years
    after they are
    gone.
    I remember
    such a
    one -
    he was about
    20 years old
    drunk at
    10 a.m.
    staring into
    a cracked
    New Orleans
    mirror
    facing dreaming
    against the
    walls of
    the world
    where
    did I
    go?

I've heard his voice once before (only to forget what he sounded like), but seen his face plenty. For some strange reason, I expected him to sound like Tom O'Bedlam. I couldn't correlate his image to his low-key whiny voice, initially. But his original voice suits him more; though it leans on weariness, it's remarkably crisp and strong, as if it'll hold him up.
And this photographic love letter, a poem of images, is so hypnotic yet tranquil. I get lost whenever I look at the sunlit waves, and then the next frame forces me to come to, only to find myself among strange but pleasant silhouettes on a golden day. I think, this is what they mean when they say what a joy and blessing it is to be living. Kudos to you for bottling rare and fickle magic so deftly.

illneas, my young friend, I have been waiting impatiently since your announcement and you haven't failed to overwhelm me again! You might recall my previous expressions of sheer delight so I will try not to repeat myself too much...Another exceptional choice of poem from Uncle Bukowski. Yes!!! Another beautifully understated, hypnotic and profound piece of AV art that gets better & better each time one returns to it (I love the increased use of delicate sound design, btw). I also think the few shots of yourself behind a camera are actually very powerful. The viewer becomes the viewed!...(That delightful, bizarre image of umbrellas in the air, like a Magritte painting, can you tell me more about how you came about it, please?). Yours is a unique talent, my friend. There's definitely something Strange going on 😉. Thank you so, so much, (once again) for making such a genuine impact on myself and all of your admirers. Much love. John.

Hello John, of course I remember your previous supportive comments and I will thank you once even though I'm repeating myself. This poem was long overdue, I had to film a movie about it. I'm glad that you noticed my humble sound-designing skills. About my reflections, I still remain my only available actor but it will change soon. About the umbrellas, it a famous sculpture in my city that I like and I thought it fitted well to the narrative. About the Patreon, I didn't receive any notification its probably something with the platform you can contact their customer service they are pretty good from my experience. Thank you once again for your continued support, you make the comment section a bit more kind and thoughtful.

@@illneas Well, thank you! There are lots of kind & thoughtful comments here - I just tend to go on a bit more (to which, you're invariably polite & grateful). I do like to encourage creativity but I'm rarely so enthusiastic. Your art is hitting the spot for a lot of people in a very profound way.
Man, that sculpture of the umbrellas is wonderful! Good call! Good to hear Bukowski's own rather plaintive voice too. You know I love you, man (sorry, bit of a Buddhist hippy nowadays - it's platonic!) so I say this only because I think you're a perfectionist, in the best sense of the word, and I only want to see you succeed - spelling. At 2 minutes in. It's 'existence', not 'existance', as spelled in the subtitles. Please, don't think I'm being an arse, if I had a private contact I wouldn't have mentioned this trifling detail in public. Anyway, one day when you're exhibiting your work in London or New York, some nippy little journalist will pick up on that detail & I don't want to see any cheap excuse to criticize your art. (Man, I'm actually getting protective about you now! Maybe because I'm a bit of an old fart, getting paternalistic, maybe your putting subliminal messages in your films!!! 😳).
The urban cat motif strikes again! I'm saying nothing more...
Case in point, I do go on! Thank you again for your kind reply & all your unique, inspiring, beautiful work. Hope all is well with you & your loved ones. Hope everything is going fine with the engineering course too. Take care, my friend.

@@dickslayer111 Hey, Brian. I hope you're well! This is all kinda weird, isn't it? I mean, like you (I suspect), I think we have had the good fortune to stumble across an exceptional artist, maybe even somebody conceivably possessed of genius. I don't get excited often, I surprise myself at how much I like illneas' output - old & cynical! - but this guy seems to bring everything together in a deceptively simple way that really touches people, way, way, down deep. I have appreciated Bukowski for more than 30 years. This dude somehow brings something fresh & magical to the table. I totally agree with your assertion. He should keep going, no matter what! Anyway, I liked your comments. Be happy, bro.
