Your telling the story of the woman with an issue to blood struck me so hard. Yesterday, my daughter turned 41. She has been ill since a few weeks old. No doctors can help her and she's been bedridden most of her life. The pain she suffers is indescribable. She knows all about being ostracized, ridiculed, ignored, mocked and hated. Even today, noncontagious people are the untouchables. Yet we keep praying that we might touch the hem, even a thread of Christ's robe. Your inspired words have lifted my heart and given the hope I need to continue on. I pray you will be blessed for your gift to us.

I can't imagine just how hard this has surely been. So incredible what your family has surely had to and continues to go through. You have my prayers. You have my deepest and sincerest prayers.
Oh Father, please, please, please, let this incredible daughter touch the hem, even just a thread of Christ's robe. Oh Father, please have mercy. Surely, surely, it has been long enough. Surely, it has been more than long enough.
But, if not, oh Father, please give strength to her and her family to continue to endure it well and bless all those that come in contact with this special soul, to be inspired to serve her and her family. Send all the angels that can be sent. Send all the blessings that can be sent. Send all the miracles that can be sent. Oh Father, mercy, please, mercy. In the name of the Lord of Mercy, Jesus Christ, Amen.

Our purpose on earth is to develop a relationship with Christ. To be His. Pride stops us. Pride keeps us out of the Temple. Do not puff up in pride and blame those with sufficient faith for refusing to honor non believers in the House of God. Great sacrifice and martyrdom prepared the way. There is no room for ill content in it. Replace such with faith, love and good works thus you too can let the miracles in as you step onto holy ground. Repent all ye unbelievers for time is short. Behold He cometh quickly and is even at the door.

One thing occurred to me during your explanation of the woman with the issue of blood.
During menopause I had a similar thing happen to me for 4 weeks straight and I collapsed and was unable to move and needed a transfusion.
That woman who had suffered so much for so long must have been so weak that the effort to get to Jesus must have taken every last ounce of strength and will she possessed.
This makes her faith all the more real to me.

While listening to your intensely insightful teaching on the healing of the woman with an issue of blood, the thought came to me that we all, men and women, have "an issue of blood". It is our blood that makes us mortal, that drives our mortal bodies, which house the 'natural' human being. The 'natural man' (and woman) is an enemy to God and as we constantly repent of our mortal issues - breaking commandments and forgetting covenants, we need constant healing. And as you so appropriately pointed out, we need to take those issues to the sacrament table each week with broken hearts and contrite spirits and accept the grace so mercifully offered to us each time we renew our covenants. The Gospel is not just "Good News" - it is the Best News ever! Thank you so much for the amazing insights you share with us.

I really relate to the woman with an issue of blood. I had a fungus in my blood from drinking raw milk that left me totally exhausted for 15 yrs. Which was the same time I was birthing our children. The doctors I went to couldn't figure out the problem and I was diagnosed with everything from low blood sugar, to depression, to suppressing terrible memories. I went to a doctor of natural medicine that was immediately able to correctly diagnose the problem. I thought about this woman from the scriptures a lot during my "issue of Blood" years.

The interesting thought for me was that many others had touched the Lord as they were walking, but, only the woman was healed.

Brother Jared…to your emphasis on being timid, even unworthy to approach the Lord in all our unworthiness, our sins and guilt….these things are constantly used against us by the adversary. His desire is to keep us bound eternally in our fears, and guilty feelings…. This I was convinced of for 19 years of turning away from the Lord.. once I realized how willing the Lord is to embrace me in the arms of His merciful love…my whole life was changed…and now I walk in His light every day upon the covenant path…my confidence waxing stronger and stronger in our Fathers pure light of truth and wisdom…His Only Begotten Son…who’s arms are stretched wide to receive all who will come to Him. Jared, your lessons over these past years have been part of this light that I now have eyes to see…Keep up the good work my brother❤️😇. David

Bro Jared, your tender and compassionate understanding of this woman with the issue of blood brought me to tears.
After 12 years she would have been dangerously anemic and suffering from physical exhaustion...another possible reason that she instantly knew she was healed might have been because her anemia was healed along with the issue of blood. Suddenly, she had energy and knew she was healed.

I love how you draw out every good point, and look at the different facets of the events, and expound upon details. Thinking about the woman with the issue of blood, I was moved to tears, and felt like that could so easily be applied to myself and others, with whatever "issues" or circumstances we find ourselves in. I love listening to Bro. Jared lesson. When I woke up early, the first thing I did is to play the CZcams of your lesson and really...you made it as if we are on the scene of event. I understand the Gospel deeper and my battle now is to exercise obedience with exactness. But with how you presented the Savior...how He is so loving, forgiving, merciful and all attributes that He is there...always extending His hand to let us feel that He is always reaching and loving and helping to have hope for the hopeless...particularly this lesson. Really I was one of those in need of SPIRITUAL HEALING so as PHYSICAL that it may always have strength to obey.
AS I LEARN AND KNOW MORE ABOUT THE SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST, I know...I can overcome all and improve more.

I can understand the anxiety of the Woman with the Issue as she feared she may be discovered . As a woman training to work with Orthodox Jewish Women in our community about thirty years ago, I was warned very clearly, that I must never offer to shake hands with the father in the home I was visiting, as he would decline because I could be, yes , ritually unclean at that time. I learned to respect the customs of these beautiful people and was also taught of the importance of the Mikvah (Ritual Bath) in our community in regards ritual regular cleansing today, We even had a mobile Mikvah in the streets of the suburb where I worked.

Making the connection of the girl’s age and the number of years the woman had suffered gave me goose bumps. So beautiful. It made me think of a possible other connection. 12 years old is often when girls begin to menstruate. Could this also be a poetic connection of the joy of the beginning of womanhood for one girl as the the difficulties of womanhood manifests in another?

Did Jarius have faith enough when his daughter was “only” sick, enough faith to seek Jesus under that condition. Was the faith of Jarius pushed to its limits after hearing word that she is dead, but then wrestling mentally with Jesus’ comforting & reassuring words. When Jarius entered his home, a home of chaos with mourners weeping & wailing that then turned into scorning laughter-a roller coaster of thoughts & emotions-his faith really being put to test of believing, sorting through the information & feelings. Did he need to dismiss people inside his home/lives in order to have the faith needed/sufficient for the miracle of Jesus to take place? He had to listen, hear, adhere & follow through with what Jesus was telling him to do. Then finally the miracle hoped for, was brought to past & enjoyed.

  • @sarahhaman35

In last weeks lesson on Jesus’ miracles, you pointed out evidences of faith that preceded the miracles and also Jesus’ attributes, why he would want to preform them. Thinking about that with this weeks lesson, some things came to mind. Jesus has “ time” for everyone, the woman with the issue of blood got the time she needed, he didn’t tell her “wait. You’re next”. And the ambulance driver, was his faith being tested? I wasn’t hearing any complaints from him, no hurry! hurry! even tho his daughter was on the brink of death or already there. Was he clinging to that faith or resting comfortably in it?
And becos of his faith, his great patient faith, he was rewarded/ blessed with his daughters life.
Just some early morning musings from the back of the class…
And then I turn you on this morning to continue, and you’re talking about more than one miracle taking place, and while we’re impatiently waiting our turn, someone who has been waiting a long, long time is being helped..

I also wonder if the woman with an issue of blood, maybe this means she hasn’t been able to have any children for the past 12 years or worse, what if the birth of a child was what initiated the initial cause of the issue of blood & so she had to remove herself from her child for the past 12 years, thinking about the child’s health & safety above the possibility of contaminating the child, thus she has been away from her child over the past 12 years…a true heart ache.

13:40 You ought to be careful regarding the term "gender issues". If one were to use the colloquial parlance in understanding your comment, they could infer that you are advocating something contrary to the family proclamation. Your point is of course valid that Jesus was ahead of his time on empowering women, the outcast, etc. But your terminology left open the doorway open for inferring far more than appears intended. Be careful adopting the popular secular parlance.

Thank you for your caution! I definitely wouldn't want to take that to the extreme the world has, but would love to catch up to Jesus in that and every other regard!
