    Did you change out the rear brake lever for a Gs style? Or the gear shift lever? I have a GS clone I recently bought and I’d like to convert those over.

      Still on the standard levers. I’m not sure how difficult that would be tbh. The Frame mounts might be significantly different.

    That looks like a fun bike. I've got a 78 R100s & have been thinking of doing something like this with it. Did you do anything like put longer rear shocks on it, or change the bevelbox for lower gearing? Also where did you get that rear mudguard.

    • @rustynuts82
      @rustynuts82  Před rokem

      Hi, glad you like it. The mudguards are UFO classic range. The shocks are 370mm eye to eye from a triumph scrambler. Ive just put some 400mm Hagon enduro shocks on. I would say 380/90 max as the uj is looking a bit stressed, but works fine. Yep, 1000cc motor with 800 bevel drive….it goes!

    Great work! Love it! Does the front wheel have to come from a GS? Can the original hub be laced with a 21 inch rim?

    • @rustynuts82

      A three rib hub is jus fine. The wheel needs two spacers to centre it, one either side….different sizes.

    • @rustynuts82
      @rustynuts82  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I was lucky, a UK firm had just rebuilt a front wheel and put it on fleabay. I went for R100RT brembo forks which are the same as the original 80G/S. so the bmw wheel went straight in with the spacers. A lot of folk put an alternative front end on, KTM etc off an enduro. Obviously a certain amount of home fetling is required. Any bm hub can be laced with a 21 hoop of course. My mate put a later gs marzocchi front end on his.

    What’s the estimated weight? I’m considering jumping from my Guzzi small block scrambler over to an airhead and converting whichever I’d get to a scrambler as well. Hoping I could get it under 475 lb.

    • @rustynuts82
      @rustynuts82  Před rokem +1

      I expect it is under 475lb, just!
      The later engine with nicasil barrels and light flywheel would help. The guzzi might be better for really narrow gnarly stuff. Those pots do hit sometimes, especially in deep ruts. The BM gets defeated by very steep, very loose tracks with rock steps where you lose momentum. Otherwise it’s surprising what it’ll manage.
