Got my tool in 2016. Last week, I was cutting a screw when it suddenly died. Repair the Dremel 3000 took a bit of tinkering. Took me 4 hours to get it working again. First, the stator coil wires on both of the contacts were broken. Had to unwind a full turn of wire to repair one and the other had to be joined by soldering. Next the switch thumb clip came off. Had to pry open the switch casing to push thumb clip back onto the switch. Assembly was a nightmare. Took me 6 attempts to get it right. Can't fasten the screws too tight, just enough to keep the parts in place. Finally when I turned it on, the SWEET sound of spinning rotor turned on, setting it to lowest and highest speed as it should. Everything worked out finally. No parts required to repair this time. Hope this tool could last me for another 5 years. I really love this tool for light grinding works. Polishing rust, knife sharpening, fishing hooks, drill holes and crafting works.

I took the switch apart, cleaned the contacts, bend the copper contacts a bit and saved money and time not buying a new switch. Works great.

Wish you had taken a video of that!! So my contacts look okay... Which makes me think switch. Watched this video hoping to see how to diagnose the switch. I'm not having a good go at this....
When I took the tool apart things kinda fell out... The wires connecting to my power cord aren't held in place with a circuit board... I guess it's made only for the U.S.🤷🤷 I'm not sure if I'm putting them back in the wrong place.

Yes. You can use a voltmeter. You will be checking ohms for continuity. Type in your search engine " test a 110v power switch " . You'll find lots to read or videos on it.

Thank you ive owned a dremel since the early 80s never had an issue replacing the brushes ever till today . Both sides jammed and springs pulled free. Upon going to the switch i couldnt remove the switch over the bearing then because of your instruction saw the brushes were extended in preventing it to slip off. Easy once i saw a small screwdriver inserted from the side both brushes freed and slipped out . then back to re assembly . Sometimes you just need to see the normal way to figure out the flubs. But something to add wipe out the housing while its disassembled mine had heavy red dust inside no idea from what but cleaned up easily. Why leave grit inside to cause future issues Great help thank you
