Wow!!! Thanks so much for this video!! I had jo idea there was a filter that needed to be cleaned!!!!! Never since we got it! Probably 10 years ago!!! I took this photo. Not sure if it was parts of the washer. The tube thing is like a metal or plastic, and a screw type thing And how the heck did it get in there!!! Doesnt look like i can add a photo

That was helpful. I am trying to find if I can remove the drawer inside the pedestals without moving the entire washer or dryer.

So I basically did as video shows and it worked! My unit had total blackout with no codes no power and a wet load .The only difference is my unit is newer kenmore he4t and the 7mil bolts were 3 hex screws . Ended up using a scissors Jack but wasn’t needed. If the feet on your unit are tall enough you will be able to do it without lifting..cheers for the video.I thought I knew everything but never thought of filter for washing machines..Makes sense…

THANKS! Great instructions. I put a large flat pan under the front of the machine to catch the water.

Love the tip “put them back”. Sounded like I hated myself in the past for not putting them back in the moment

Wow. Had no idea this wa supposed to be done. 5 year old Kenmore washer and the trap was pretty nasty. On the good side, almost $2.50 in change was in there! Thanks! LOL

I just found your video. I've had my washer from Sears for 19.5 yrs and although I always clean the interior drum, rubber and dispenser with backing soda and peroxide, my clothes still turns out FOUL. I even used baking soda and vinegar on my actual wash and still a foul odor on my towels. So, as I investigated what i could be missing, it turns out there's is filter that should be cleaned. How would I have ever know this. There is a cover at the bottom that requires unscrewing to know this filter even exist! I never knew this! The sales agent didn't tell me and now I'm about to takle this filter off for the first time in 19.5 yrs. A few months shy of 20 yrs! Oh, dear God, what am I to find? By the way, Thank You so much for making this video.

It is going to fix that smell you have with yours. You will be very happy you clean that out. And it is easy. Have a shop vac near by and on, when you start unscrewing the filter and catch it the water quickly as it comes out. Or that smell will now be on your floor. Good luck!!!

One other thing to check on these is pull back the rubber shield thing around the door opening and make sure no socks or other small clothing is stuck behind it. That was causing a lot of my smell issues in the drum.

Yep these machines are known for small clothing items to get caught in there.

I've had my washer about 15 years. The water isn't draining so I'm not sure if I need to buy a new machine. I never knew there was a filter that needed cleaning! I'm hoping when I take this apart tomorrow it fixes the problem. Who knows what I'll find in there! I always find things in the dryer...
    Thank you for the video!!!

I think this should help your draining issues. I bet your trap is clogged. Let me know what you find when you open up yours

@@MarkenAndSonAdventures I cleaned the filter. But I'm not sure where the drain is. The model# for my Kenmore is 40272900. By chance, are you familiar with that model? Thanks!

The only suggestion I have is one you take the cover off take it off those blocks as that water runs to the slope of your floor and its about 1/4 to a 1/2 gallon of water in there.. OR put 2 towels in the back to catch that water..

It’s more of a catch than a filter. It catches all the large debris from clogging your pipes. Thanks for watching

get yourself a pan brother. I got some rubber feet that lift it up and shock absorb, don't need to lift, although that probably gets a lot of the water out of the way.
Mine stinks. I was hoping this would show how to get rid of the mold that grew in there. I'll just throw in some vinegar the next time.
