the hardest part for me now is putting myself in my boys shoes when im telling them something and listening to how i sound. i feel regret everyday, while not around them, that i let my impulsions and impatients run how i am disciplining or teaching them. hindsight is so much easier to manage compared to in the moment under pressure making a point or scolding to stop a behaviour. i know what i must do, but its not so simple in the moment.
Thank for all of your podcasts.

You sound like you care very much and are very self-aware of your shortcomings and mistakes. I'm sure there's a lot of things you do very well that you don't give yourself credit for, too. I know I beat myself up for the mistake sive made as a parent as well. Whatever mistakes you've made, just try to do better now and in the future. Keep trying your best. I wish you the best.

I used to do this with my 2 boys with food or clothes. I would give them 2 option say, do you want carrots or peas with dinner? Or which of these 2 outfits would you like to wear today? This way they were doing what I wanted but felt like they had a choice or option. Worked wonderfully.

if you want determination in life for your children, colleague, friends and yourself plus you have good intentions for them cultivate a culture where people have first: the feeling of an own agenda, second have the abilities to solve given tasks and third feel they do something that serves a higher purpose or common goal. i mean i can get a super annoying task at work, but i try to reframe it that works for me, sometimes i just need more details from my colleague etc.

The tool at work they shared - that helped me was
WIIFM - What's in it for me?
It sure helps understand where management and change is coming from.
At least it gives us an understanding of the need/desire for culture change.
Even if the future is better - we resist. This is the way of things.
When I see a benefit and understand the vision for the future it gets me on board, fired up and willing to become part of the solution. I speak from experience. Change is hard - the needle does not want to budge.
Do not fear to speak the words. Words are our friends - the truth - honesty is best - least expensive and ultimately less painful for all concerned - imho
    Till the ground
    spread the fertilizer
    plant the seeds
    water, sunshine, love
    They will grow.
We are not afraid to get our hands dirty.
Look if I made a mistake - spell it out. Dad would say grab your ankles. He took off his belt. He made it clear, I new it was coming and deserved what I got. It was harder on him that it was on me - but that is not something I learned until it was my time to have to correct behavior.
That being said good testing is the first, the last and random in the middle.
We have to stretch that bubble - test the boundaries - Preaching to the choir.
    Yes Sir.
I would love to give some people a whoopin but let us try diplomacy first.

Yeah my boyfriend and I have this issue a lot. He’s insecure and passive so I naturally take charge most of the time and then he silently stews about it and gets resentful and passive aggressive towards me. In his passive aggression he is constantly micromanaging me and telling me how to do things which is a huge no-go for me. My last partner was super controlling and I will not put up with that shit. A lot of men micromanage though.

Living with anarchists the number one point of conflict is "Don't tell me what to do" because there is no central authority, its volunteer, and there are bunch of hyper independent people who have all these ideas of what should be. The worst is a group of anarchists putting up a camp for an extended time. Its funny as hell to watch but is hell if you are there trying to make things happen and have a functioning camp . Like for weeks or a whole year. Can they work together solving the problems that come up? Freeloading happens all the time (not washing dishes and other chores) and for anything to work the people have to be very mature to have the community work. Tons of personal responsibility. THings get dropped and fallout happens. It only takes one bad apple to ruin your day. ✌

Other cultures see this differently. Like for example in Asia, conformity to social rules and norms has a much higher value. Plus, a lot of people are not doing well with too much freedom to choose and an infinite amount of choices available. I'm not anto choices, but I caution against believing that having infinite choices is an ideal situation for all humans.

People don’t want their illusions shattered. That also has something to do with it. They get used to life, being cozy and warm and bright, and when you threaten to change the light source or the temperature, or the way they exist, they will resist no matter what, even if it’s good for them. The same way that the drug addict will resist help knowing that he needs it. It’s up to him to get the help in his mind not for you to try to help.

It really backfires when parents impose their will on their children all the time.

    • @ChristopherGray00
      @ChristopherGray00 Před rokem +1

i think it roots in paranoia that most parents have for their child, i noticed with my father that he was very paranoid with me, even as an adult taking medication for my severe anxiety disorder, he thinks the medication is detrimental to me, but i see better results in my life than previous to when i would take the medication.
the problem with imposing your will onto another person's individual choice (and by individual choice, i mean a choice that only has a result for the person making the choice), is that you don't have as good of an idea of their situation as much as they do, you can be completely convinced in your mind they are making the wrong call for themselves, while in their mind they are satisfied with their choice and have gotten success from it.
this problem is why i NEVER impose my will onto another person's individual choices, yes i will make suggestions if i think someone is doing something wrong, but i will never tell them what to do with their own choices. that is theirs to make so long as it only concerns them and so long as they are an adult.

Making sure traits and effects can be seen cross-culturally is a basic precondition for studies. This effect is in human nature. But all effects are threshold based. So depending on your personality / upbringing your threshold to feel too restricted varies. Unless you feel threatened, reactance wont kick in. So the phenomenon is universal, but when it starts to happen is somewhat personal.

Thomas George was a game changer for me , ever since we met and began my journey in 2021 I’ve made over $650k in profits! He’s the only one I can recommend and also he is a FINRA agent so he’s well experienced all round.
