Apparently it means that your bosses are allowed to micro manage your every single movement and track everything without your consent.

I work for a security service in which I do armed response. We have a camera/GPS system in our cars. We have a GPS on the phones they issue. Everything is recorded. Rules and more rules!
Discipline yourself to the point the rules won’t affect you and put yourself in a position where someone or a company doesn’t have that much control over your life!
That’s the problem authoritarians and tyrants think they’re your parents so you have to follow their rules. The ones watching you to find a reason to intrude in your life are the ones who should have rules placed on them.

I completely agree. When I was just an E-nothing in the Navy I knew I didn't like the idea of someone giving me orders to do something. So I took initiative instead. Guess what? No one ever told me what to do. Everyone just stood back and allowed me to do my thing. It's been like that my entire life.
This was gold...a profound verse from James 125 related to this came to mind too: "But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it-not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it-they will be blessed in what they do." Also implying lack of aggency is just victem mentality, escape we all have personal agency to grow and escape our vices, do it. Stay hard.

We got to make our own rules and parent our selfs, growing up I didn't had much supervision, for circumstance, and did what I wanted many times. I learned that if I don't tell my self " No Saralee, you can't!" I will screw my self, "No drugs".... etc..
I still work on it, but when I say No alcohol, it meana NO!
'Have learned a lot from Jocko. Disciplining yourself, discipline within a Team, discipline from good parents, discipline from a good Company with whom your in a mutually beneficial relationship are all different from discipline from less benign places. Breaking the rules of less benign places is tactically sound and sometimes the only way to protect yourself and your charges.

I usually agree with most everything Jocko says... But this time he is just plain wrong. If you work hard and make a lot of money the money doesn't stop ruling you. It can, but most of the time it doesn't. And if you eat healthy and work out you won't be ruled by disease and sickness? Again, that can correlate but is not always true. Someone perfectly fit can get a disease and die at 35. Someone who eats super healthy can still get sick.
