      An explanation for the planet’s high gravity (as well as the ridiculously high gravity of other planets in the Halo universe compared to their natives (Doisac)) could just be the activation of the Halo array.
      When the rings went off they flooded the Universe with a ridiculous amount of radiation, which has its own gravitational weight. And when all the organic life absorbed that radiation and were later disintegrated, that radiation just presumably stuck around buried in the planet weighing it down. So given that Sangheili evolved prior to the Halo array’s activation and then were reseeded on their home world, perhaps they and other species in the Halo universe were made more muscular and resilient than their pre-activation ancestors because of the added gravity?

    Elites have really impressive strength, speed and agility but they would have terrible endurance. They're huge and they have thick scaly/ leathery skin, so they wouldn't have skin pores and wouldn't be able to sweat so they would overheat really quickly.
    Also, because their legs mostly bend _behind_ them and because of their weird hoof feet, that would make it really hard for them to climb.
    Oh, and their clawed finger tips would make them less dexterous and delicate with their hands.

    • @RoanokeGaming

      Roanoke Gaming faster maybe, but longer distances? I am no biologist, but if I remember correctly the layout of the human leg maximizes stamina while walking/running on two legs. Wouldn’t the digitagrade legs of elites burn more stamina as well?

    • @troopergames8173
      @troopergames8173 Před 5 lety +1

      Jackson Almodobar+ on the front of overheating, maybe they pant? I'm no biologist and im aware they are not mammalian by far. Another thought I had was an increased oxogen presence in their homeworld. Again I'm no biologist I just thought I'd add more to the conversation

    • @midshipman8654
      @midshipman8654 Před 5 lety +4

      trooper games even still, panting is no where near as effective as sweating, it’s why horses sweat too. Also I don’t believe reptilians can vent as much heat has a mammal like a dog can, but idk. The oxygen thing could be a factor, but then they would need to have some device to provide them with more oxygen on earth and earth like environments (which is largely were the elite are stationed in game) for them not to loose breath real quick on places like Reach, Halo, or earth.

      1.375 G. While a person would be able to survive those conditions for a little while, I imagine prolonged exposure would lead to increased pressure on the heart to pump blood to the brain which could leave to aneurysms in the aorta or blood vessels elsewhere! Actually, everything the Covenant build is purple because the material it's made of is that colour by default. Kinda like objects made of steel are always grey or silvery in colour when not painted, it is the same with their stuff. And since covering everything from a small cargo crate to a 21 kilometers long Assault Carrier with a paintjob would be too expensive and a waste of resources for little purpose, they just kept it purple.

They're literally good at everything, their evolutionary history doesn't even make sense considering their planet's gravity, they're amazing warriors, they're jacked - the males have a "leathery" scent and the females a "flowery" scent - like, I bet whomever wrote that also would write that they're shits smell like fresh-baked gingerbread or something and to top it off they're ridiculously long-lived. Like - what the fuck? Gary Stuism aside I've always thought the idea of an alien species literally besting humanity in almost all categories was a good concept to explore. We're basically Grunts to these guys.

      2 years late but I'm adding my two cents. Elites may be physically superior to us in every way, but we're a bit more clever and cunning from what I've seen in lore. Elites in war have a very honorific system that revolves around following set rules of engagement, while we humans pay lip service to these rules while blatantly and obviously disobeying them. A perfect example of this would be how every covenant force lead by an elite would seem to follow the same strategy of applying force from the front and nowhere else (explaining why Regret, a prophet, managed to crack Earth's defenses with a fleet only 2% the size of the Fleet of Particular Justice on Reach.) Juxtapose this with humanity's varying and adaptive use of many strategies and you can see how we managed to hold out for as long as we did against the Alpha Bravos. One other thing of note is that Elites would rather die than to receive medical treatment in combat, so their casualties are usually deaths while ours can sometimes be frankensteined back together well enough to go back out and get vaporized again, thus giving us a slightly higher effective troop count than theirs in a 1:1 fight. A bit of a read, but from what I can tell it's all completely lore accurate and explains a lot of what was implied about the Human-Covenant War, so I hope that makes up for the extreme lateness.

    Ok, so a question. Considering you are a biology guy while I'm just someone who spends way to much time looking at the Sangheili. Do they have hooves or not? from an anatomical perspective at least. Because from what I can tell they don't. The closest example that I can be being the elites seen in the Mona Lisa motion comic, in which you can see that the toes of the foot are dominated by a hard surface like a cloven hoof, while every other example has a very skin covered foot with small nails located towards the tip. Then while inconsistent, you have the amount of dexterity in the toes which has been depicted in both subtle and unsubtle moments with the beautiful reptiles. Then you have the fact that the sold pad seen in some of the games at the bottom of the foot often seen as a Hoof simply an armoured sole. Then you also have the drastic differences between the feet from game to game but that could be written off in the same way as the mandibles are.

    Dinosaurs were not large because there was extra oxygen necessarily. When you factor in bird lungs, which are driven by a system of air sacks that constantly pump air through the lungs, with blood vessels parralel to airflow, ensuring that birds can have 20-30% more oxygen saturation in their blood its no wonder why they could get so big. The warmblooded and highly active ancestors of crocodiles also had some pretty sophisticated lungs, which is why modern crocs have lungs which are extremely overbuilt for a semi aquatic ambush predator.
    I would imagine the sangheli would have something similar to these very efficent archosaurian lung systems.

    Roanoke Gaming Looking to their morphology I really doubt they are fast and agile creatures like they are portrayed. With their horse-like feet it would be really hard for them to walk on soft ground, their bulky morphology would also makes them incapable to run, climb or swim efficiently. Their two thumbs hands would not give any advantage compared to a human hand outside of pure combat, it would also be really hard for them to do precision work. For me, all the evidences shows that they are actually ambush predators like crocodiles: they spend most of the time motionless and can deliver a really strong and short attack when they see a prey, that would explain their strong, slow and bulky morphology.
