Biology of Spartan II Muscle Augmentation Explored | Consequences of growth and cardiac Function

- The Spartan Muscle Augmentation was one that could lead to congestive heart failure if the body were to reject the injections. That being said, roughly 95% of participants exposed to these injections were viable and able to thrive with newly acquired muscle mass which allowed them to combat the forces of the covenant. Without this overhaul of the musculature of a person, humans were just too weak to stand against their alien foe. In this episode we will talk about the biology of these enhancements as well as their consequences!

Glad you are learning and enjoying!

So true
It’s like school but it’s actually engaging and keeps your attention for more than 5 minutes (at best), along with teaching things that people are actually interested in and it doesn’t cost an ungodly amount of money to continue it.
Damn that description of the muscle enhancement pain had me grinding me teeth.
It sounds entirely unpleasant for sure haha

the books tried their best to create an immersive, fleshed out, world fill with deep lore and great stories. The videos games past halo 2 have ripped that world apart at every turn unfortunately.

So would humans be able to augment our body structure similar to Spartan 3's and 4's? The procedure is less dangerous and doesn't really differ from the Spartan 2's, at least on an average ability range.
we need to develop more tech for it, but I would imagine it would be totally possible
@@RoanokeGaming we have the tech. It's called anabolic steroids, myostatin inhibitors and synthetic human growth hormone.
@@halo3pownage I think a more effective route would be doing the augmentation before birth. Delete myostatin of the fetus (increases muscle fiber count), constant mechano growth factor injections into the growing fetus, and other genetic editing which would increase their height, bone density, and size of their frame
It hurts less and is cheaper
@@troy3423 too bad crispr isn't approved for human use yet.
With today's tech exogenous androgens, myostatin inhibitors, and exogenous growth hormone are what's gonna closely simulate what a Spartans augmentations are going to be like(assuming you train like a Spartan as well)
I learn more here about the human body than I have in the last 2 months in anatomy

Dude I love how you went into the science of it all. I’m going into kinesiology and this actually really helped and made sense.
Yall we all know spartan 2's real reason for their strength. They figured out the secret of the krabby patty formula
So corny
Real protien
if i knew id survive such a procedure, id do through with it even if it felt like i was being set on fire
It'd feel like dying several times but no adrenaline just straight pain
The later Spartan versions are more successful and have less invasive procedures, so you could volunteer for that
@@Cmdr_DarkNite inferior to the spartan 2 and 3 sure but still much faster and stronger than top tier athletes
@@Cmdr_DarkNite Still comparing them to athletes is ridiculous, SIV's are ridiculously strong too

Hey no problem for the lore mess up. We all have those weeks where we are really tired from school. Any new mass effect videos like for turains or quarian?
Does asthma contribute to that "stitch in the side" feeling? If so, how would one breath in a way to alleviate that pain?
Just give marines pcp that should help the war effort

Thanks for the episode Roanoke. :) I'm sad the viewpocalyose has hit your channel though.
I have probably learnt more from your videos than I have from biology in school, thanks for rekindling my love for the subject.
When you've got some of these other series done, I'd LOVE to see you take on the kooky biology of the creatures inhabiting the *Monster Hunter* franchise. Each individual species is a video to itself, and there are PLENTY of them to make.
Or the Hunters themselves, they're monsters in it of themselves.

I liked the part about compartment syndrome. 2 years ago I suffered a serious work accident which resulted in compartment syndrome in my left forearm, wrist, and hand. You confuse them with Star wars fans. In the grim darkness of the 41st millennium there are only memes
40k is a science fiction that you can't defy it with normal science, you have to go deep to fictional science, remember, 40k is toooooooooooooo grim dark for having logical science
Dreams of becoming a Super Saiyan are now overshadowed by becoming a Spartan...
Scary thing is, the Spartan II augmentation procedure is possible now, with a little bit of bending the rules of Halo lore in our reality of course in order for it to fit in. We just don’t have the necessary means of needing an actual Spartan II right now, and due to moral reasons when it comes to body modification and children training to become Spartans.
Would you do a Spartan II vs Spartan IV augments breakdown? It seems like a fun way to go back to this topic.
Damnit! Now you have me thinking about taking a biology class!
I'm not sure if you covered this at all but one of the main reasons ONI had decided to do the augmentation program was also because a regular built human could not handle the movement accelerators of the MJOLNIR armor and many test subjects suffered severe injuries when conducting movement experiments like shattered bones in their legs, feet, and arms as well as one death by decapitation. I read this either in the novels Halo: The Fall Of Reach or First Strike by Eric Nylund
Damn, humans really are horror film villains, like yeah you can outsprint me, but for how long?
Great video as usual! I always love to see more Halo.
Glad you enjoyed it bro!

Wait a minute Spartans aren’t natty??? You going to tell me Larry wheels in juicing too!?!?
I have learned more biology from this video than in 3 months of class lol
I love this video. I would like to just watch a video on muscles and hypertrophy.
Wanna know something? I watch these videos usually when I come home drunk, so yes... I study biology and general lore at 1 in the morning while I make myself some food.
I like the Aug's for the Spartans.
The only problem i have with all this is that it would probably be better just to construct a robotic Body and place the Brain in it or something.
Yo this feels a little personal bro.
@@johnthefox6239 Not at all. I was just thinking that they need to develope all these special materials that are combatible with biology, make special Serums, cut up Children, etc.
Meanwhile, you could just create a robotic Body and (improvment to my previous idea), upload a digitalized Version of the "Pilot"'s Brain.
And yes, i like the Spartans and Space Marines and whatever Super-Soilder-Sci-Fi-Programs there are more, i just think it would make more sense from a monetary and scientific Standpoint.
@@SuperAmaton I was making a joke about Prothstetic limbs, which I now realize was poorly executed. But I totally understand your point of view. Even though I think mechanical suits are cheaper and more probable die to humanities love of his own parts.

Hey Roanoke. After watching this video, im curious to hear your thoughts on the cutscene in Halo Wars where Forge fights the Arbiter on the shield world. I wonder how plausible you think the outcome is considering all the augmentations that Forge did not have as an average marine? Keep up the good content
He died and got the elite mad he also almost died from his wounds and so does due to a planet kabooming
I wish I had you as my high school biology teacher.
Loved that Futurama joke. You don’t see those very often.
I would like to see you do a video on Star trek Augments. They are described as being 5x stronger than a normal man, have Hyper active immune systems, are more intelligent and creative, have powerful cardiovascular systems and are very difficult to stun or kill
Lol found my new channel to binge watch.
A second heart and lungs could make this actually really viable
There is no need in that
1)Spartan hurt and veins are enhanced
2)they have ciber lungs
You should do an episode on the morphology of the monsters in Hunt: Showdown
I would love a video about how the civilian life in HL2 is, and such, In general more info about the half-life universe would be appreciated
I know it’s not really the style of his channel but it would be cool to see him tell us the anatomy of the monsters in monster hunter
Every damn alien has claws, fangs, superstrength, and superior tech. Earth really shortchanged us.
I would love to see you cover the anatomy and possible science between the Space Marines from the Warhammer 40k universe.
Finally a recommendation worth losing sleep for at 3am
We as humans are best designed at a atrange thing called analysis and ingenuity. Not speed, not strength, not durability. But learning a combination of factors like weak spots on the enemy, drugs to enhance preformance and tools to magnify the desured effects like blunt force trauma, we can out match some daunting threats.
The problem? The Covenant have targets both ingenius and superior by default. So now its either match their might to even the playing field or be the fastest hands in the Quadrant.
You can see what was chosen.
Hey Roanoke so i rewatched like all your videos and in the hell knight video you said something about a sanghelli versus a hell knight are you gonna do that
Humans....we are the very monster that terrify us. We slowly chase down our victims until they're exhausted, unable to flee, and ready to die.
Sound like every monster movie I've ever seen.
this was actually really cool to learn about ngl
I'd be willing to have all of this done to me if I was needed on the battlefield.
Will you be covering the Spartan III's and IV's after you finish with the II's? I really love your work even if i don't understand half the humongous medical and biological terms you give out lol
