    Hi Brian, just had to say that was the best explanation of blending I have ever see. I have been a painter for a long time, opened my first shop almost 50 years ago. Unfortunately back then we did not have all the fabulous chemicals you have available today, they would have been such a blessing for the thousands of blend jobs I did for Braman in Miami. It was a lot of NC Lacquer and very slow thinners, so perfect jobs were difficult with our frequent weather changes I still love to do bodywork and paint but I don't have a professional booth nowadays, since retiring and selling the last business decades ago. I noticed you have an Acura shirt and work at the Pembrook Pines Dealership, I'm in Palm Beach now but lived in PP about a mile from your shop. I would love to shake your hand someday, no problem if you put on gloves and wear that HD Mask and a Trevek suit. (;-) Keep safe, Gary

Thanks to you I got up the nerve to try a base coat clear coat repaint on a badly pealing hood on a silver 2006 Jeep Liberty and it came out amazing even though it was painted under a fold up awning in the driveway. I'm going to try some blending of the fender flairs and window sills on it now thanks to your very good how to on the subject. Thanks Brian. PS i have never painted car body parts before this. only sprayed small parts and things around the house. So proof that your passed on knowledge works for the beginner.

    I have stumbled upon your channel at the right time. I’m just getting into painting again after about 30 years away from it and your channel and how-to’s are a Godsend. I’m getting fairly consistent results now but still struggle when things get wonky. I will be needing the blending techniques shown in this video pretty often in my flip projects. One thing I would love you to cover is paint matching for the DIY’er. I’ve been getting base just using the manufacturer paint code and they’ve been ok (blendable) until my last project. Apparently GM changed the formulation so much that I can’t really even blend it. Consequently I’m having to do a sand and paint on the whole car. Is there a way for a consumer to get an exact match without taking the car to a body shop for paint?

    • @PaintSociety
      @PaintSociety  Před 4 lety +1

      I’m glad you’re getting back into painting! For the diy you’re at the mercy of the paint shop. Some matches are good but most aren’t. I suggest you find a good jobber that will go the extra mile and show you the chips to help you match the color. It’s best to bring a part of the car in. Fuel door is ideal.

I like this video because I don't have the time or weather to do an entire panel. I'm only at the stage of prepping the surface and feathering the paint edge. I can only pray I get half the results you do. I'll try to send pics of the finished product hopefully for some tips on how to fix it, lol.
