    • @johnnyd5687
      @johnnyd5687 Před 3 lety +1

      @@doyoeven when that happens to me its usually because i had my gun too far away from the panel im painting, moving the gun too fast, or the temperature of the panel was too cold. Make sure you panel is AT LEAST 60 degrees. The warmer the better. The paint will flow out better. You can “cut and buff” the panel to try and correct you problem. If its really bad start sanding down with 800 grit WET. then move to 1200 grit then 1500 then 2000 grit. WET SANDING. Stay away from corners and edges or you will burn through the paint. I sometimes tape corners so i don’t accidentally sand them. Then move to buffing compounds with a buffer and a wool pad to bring back the shine. Google “cut and buff paint job” good luck

      What Mike said, more risky to blend silver without some sort of clear bed underneath, some systems a little worse than others... And I've found waterborne to be even more susceptible to showing sand scratches in your blend area than solvent.

      Let's say I'm done all the body work and sanded it to 600.
      I don't need a clear wet bed before the base blue to stop the scratches coming through if I do 2 sealer coats first right?
      I plan on 2 sealer coats, 2 base coats, then the drop coat, then 2 or 3 clear coats.

But if I'm sanding the truck but not taking it to bare metal do I need to use primer and sealer or just the sealer. Secondly I've heard you mention in a lot of your videos about using a sealer close to your color. since it's a 2 tone truck with dark and a light colors should I 2 tone sealer too, or will one lighter color sealer all over be ok?

    Great video! Great technique to solve the streaking that is soooo easy to do with silvers.

    That was awesome Brian. Metallic can be tricky. I found out it's difficult to try to blend part of a panel without doing the whole thing. I see you like to make a complete pass, that's a good point.

    hey man love your vids i have been painting since i was 15 now im 21 but working at body shops and at a dealership you see a big difference and the way you explain things its basically what i had to kinda learn on my own with help of my dad. but keep it up awesome content and hey you should come do a video at my shop lol

    I noticed with a high metallic color, if you hang your paint gun up between coats for 10 minutes etc, the metallic will settle in the gun and if you don’t give it a little shake when starting to use it, you will use up the metallic in a few seconds

    Keeping the gun parallel to the panel, higher temp reducer, and orientation coat is key. I will always turn the lights off in the booth, and check the base before clear with a sun gun. If you need to do another orientation coat while you are looking at the base with the sun gun, and the booth lights off. Great video!

    Slow reducer is the trick! First thing i learned from my dad, i remember seeing a kandy paint job with tiger stripes on the hood and trunk, and first thing my pops said was " thats what happens when u dont use slow reducer" 😂

      Paint Society hi. Brian Have you ever happened to you that applying too much wet bed you will end up with depth issues (darken up) specially on metallics paints
